For the Golden Gate Park SF slalom session Sept. 3rd starting at 1:30 pm, we plan on setting up both a tight and a hybrid course. Hope to see some new folks and old friends there! Anyone coming from East Bay to SF, you will be able to use the Bay Bridge to get to SF. But the East-bound direction of the bridge is closed all weekend, so going back from SF to East Bay you will need to use another bridge (or combo of Golden Gate to San Rafael-Richmond Bridge).
See original post lower on this page for more on slalom session spot and good parking place...

GGP was awesome on Sunday! Thanks to Rich for orchestrating the whole thing. It was great meeting everyone-- can't wait to do it again! As a matter of fact, I'm buying some cones today so watch out! Also thanks to all the guys for jabbering the entire time with eachother-- I slipped in ahead of everyone and got at least 4 runs to their every 1 !! After skating nothing but steep mountain roads since 1975, I am having the time of my life running cones!
P.S. It still amazes me why so many people have yet to discover slalom racing, (spectators & participants) OR just refuse to embrace it for one reason or another. EVERY single person who walked by our course was in awe of all the skateboarders who were running cones. They took pictures, hooted & hollered, clapped, and congratulated us on every run! What am I missing here????

Who's up for Tunnel Rd. next saturday? I won't have a car so I will need a ride but I have a bunch of boards that I can loan out to any who need them -Julien

Right on Rich. Cool to see you guys picking up the torch for the GGP slalom/freestyle stuff. Don't forget to let Lizzie at Purple Skunk know about it. They have gear in the store to suit those disciplines and are down for the cause. Still trying to find some free time to schedule another trip for an encore SK8KINGS/Purple Skunk Jam. Slalom season is making it hard.
PS -- You should post something here too: Nor Cal Connection with Gary
PSS -- If any of you are going to San Diego for the ASR Show next month -- we're having a Jam on Sunday. Details at SK8KINGS.COM.

Hay looking for sk8ers near San Jose There are tons of great hills around here, there are sweet mellow hills for cursing and carving and steep bombs runs also. I have been sk8 this area for over 9 years continuously and know where all the good safe spots and not so safe spots are. If your into Sliding, Slalom, Speed boarding, Streetluge, parks ditches pools even freestyle hit me up. A group of us usually gets together every Sat morning near Bernal rd to practice Slalom. Send me a email if you would like to go riding MJ Here is a small list of folks who i have had the pleasure of riding with in San Jose: Mike Huston Darren Lott Randal Fuller David Price Eli Smouse Justin Ice Cliff Colman Falttown (from England) Ladara Crew (fearless) John Ravitch Judi Oyama Mico Biffel Steven Wu Gary Hole Dan Menapase Chris Sulivan Hung Chang John Hudson John Fryer Josh Zinman John Kim Johanas ???? Conservatory Drive in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco -- they close some roads on Sundays for the skaters and bicyclers to use them. Slalom and downhill sessions starting at 1:30 pm on Sundays August 20 and September 3 (Labor Day Weekend- so you will have Monday to rest your sore muscles). I'm bringing 90 slalom cones and extra beginner and intermediate slalom completes for those who want to try slalom. click here for a map showing the site and "secret" parking spot Here's my sk8 bro Bruce "Norski" at a session earlier this year... If anyone wants to get a freestyle jam going, there's a good flatland spot in front of the Conservatory Building too... Anyone up for a downhill handstand distance contest?... If anyone needs to contact me those days, my cell phone is (925) 787-4726 Rich Sayers __________________ Slash grinds are fun!

Hey all, I'm living down in emeryville at the moment and have noticed that the parking lots over by the big E mall (office max, home depot etc) are very smooth and often quite empty. I was wondering if anyone wanted to get together and run some cyber/flattish slalom I got no cones but I got the stoke -julien
