Hello San Jose crew -- let me know what time slalom starts this Saturday 3/10. Plan to sk8 slalom, then the Sunnyvale Park. Maybe I can get H.C. to come along.
If anyone wants to do some mellow slalom in Martinez -- especially on a rainy day -- I've got two good spots. One is a nice asphalt parking lot on a hill with varying degrees of steepness. Other is a closed parking garage that's great! Have never seen security there, and it's been closed- so there are not any cars! Both are just off of Morello exit on Highway 4.

Saturday was awesome in San Jose. Almost everyone showed this time! The weather could not have been nicer-- 70+ degrees, no wind. Steven King announced his semi-retirement. What does that mean? Will it be like Cher retiring? I don't believe for a second that he will stay gone for very long. I hope not! C'mon Steven, who is going to help Gareth with Hood River? Don't leave us--- please? Sunday was Santa Rosa as usual, however, we got 86'd from out favorite slalom spot AND kicked out of our favorite parking garage. It was quite humerous to see a a bunch of "kids" that range in age from 33 to 51 jump into bushes trying to avoid the security guard at the parking garage. We laughed so hard I thought we were going to pee our pants! We'll probably do it all agoin next weekend. God, I love skateboarding!

Unfortunately, I don't have any good answeres other than the remote possibility that my T/S practice spot in Corvallis(45-ish miles south of Salem) could be dry if Salem is wet, however, what weather Salem recieves usually hits us as well, sometimes not though. Adios-P

So if I don't wear my legs and knees out in the morning, and eat light, the odds of winning all the afternoon races will tip in my favor!
In case it starts to rain while we are up there, what other Oregon slalom hills can we hit between Salem and Northern Cal?

Hey, Just be sure to check weather report before making the drive, our weather in the spring is pretty unpredicatable and often wet, but usually if it says "dry" or "slight chance of preciptitation" or less than 30% chance of precipitation our events are a "GO" plus I'll keep posting stuff relative to the event on the CSA site. Warning: a lot of people (including myself especially) eat BBQ until we can barely walk back up the hill. It's WAY laid back. Adios- Paul

Wow, this sounds like a laid-back fun event! Cat, Eric and Bruce -- I'm OK with car-pooling with you three in my 2005 Sienna Van. It's got the largest interior room of anything called a "mini-van" and comfy seats. If you all could pay for the gas, I'll contribute the wear and tear on my van! Would want to leave early Saturday morning cuz it's gonna be a 9 or 10 hour drive, depending on how much we pit stop.

Hey, If anyone driving northward to my event wants to sleep on our floor(bring a sleeping pad, pillow, and sleeping bag) the Saterday night before and/or the Sunday night after the race, we can probably accomodate 5 people in our humble but interesting apartment. Email me or post on the CSA forum so I know what to expect. Same offer goes for my event in October. Same offer goes for other CSA races if I'm in town. -P

Congrats Eric, Cat and Norski...... looks like Great riding went down. Glad to read you 3 made it down after all! Seeing the posts on the slalom page, and your stoke being shared down south at Steve's Harbor 77 was great. man, I really would've liked to join you down there and i know I'd had fun time too. Too bad the rest of us up here (you know who you are...) <;-) just stayed huddled inside and outta the rain, well at least I did. bad excuse but work got in the way as well.

New plan for the 45 at 45 Tour that spreads the 45 skate parks over 23 days This will allow more people to join me at the parks on weekends. People often don't want to take a weekday off and use up vacation time. Also, if the sponsors donate freebies to distribute, more people will have access to that. Will probably stay at each park 45 minutes to an hour, skating for a half-hour. ( With the 9 day schedule would have limited it to shorter times to get to all the parks and not wear myself out).
Schedule overview: September 29 - 30 4 parks on Saturday, 4 more on Sunday
October 6th to 14th 2007 Nine days in a row. 4 parks each Saturday, 3 each weekday and Sunday. Total of 29 parks in 9 days.
October 20-21 4 parks on Saturday, 4 more on Sunday
That's a total of 45 skate parks to celebrate older dudes being able to skate at 45 years of age!
Any ideas or feedback are welcome!

CAS, I live in the city around the tenderloin and would definitely be down for some night riding. I've got plenty of experience in traffic though usually not at those speeds. I can footbreak comfortably up into the 40s though so I shoud be ok. Shoot me an email or reply here and we can find a time to meet up. Have you ever checked out the run behind the UCSF medical center. Comes down from Twin peaks to parnassus, not sure on the quality of pavement but it has some nice turns and doesn't look like it gets much traffic. -Julien

I am a park junkie too! Sounds like fun Rich.
I rode 16 parks in 9 days during x-mas vacation and boy was beat afterwards (plus a downhill sesh on GMR and slalom at Pump staion and a CCMF slalom race in Cambria, whew!
45 parks is no small task but where there's a will there's a way. You can do it!

Hi all,
This October I turn 45 years young. Will celebrate the occasion by skating 45 different skateparks in Northern Cal over 9 days. (Or at least attempt to pull this off if my body can handle it!) Will visit 5 different skateparks each day from October 6th to 14th 2007. Have reserved the Internet domain name 45at45.com to showcase the plan and plug my sponsors. Will be getting the website up within a month, then posting some notes about the training regimen and test runs to be done over the next 9 months. If anyone wants to join in for some of the 5-parks-in-a-day practice sessions, let me know.
Maybe on one of the Sundays I should do Golden Gate Park slalom as one of the stops. It is a park that closes the roads so people can skate -- guess that makes it a Skate Park!

This Monday Jan. 15th I'm working a short day on the MLK Holiday. Plan to skate at Berkeley Skatepark around 2-3:30 pm.
Weather forecast by Accuweather for 1 until 3pm is 50° F Sunny. Low wind speed of only 8 mph. I skated Walnut Creek yesterday when it was 47 to 48° and it did not feel cold wearing jeans and a light jacket.
