This should be a fun event. FREE beer, wine and pizza.
They will be raffling a Santa Cruz complete skateboard and have other great prizes and swag. The past two events they put on sold out. This place holds 100 people max. Keith Meek, Hut, Don Bostick, and a few others will be there. I am trying to get Blackhart, Goldman, Jamie Hart...to attend.

With the Spring weather improving in the next few weeks, we should organize a Saturday morning Potrero del Sol pool skating session (say from 8:30 to 10 am)followed by a Golden Gate Park slalom session (say from 11 am to 2pm).
Anyone interested?

cunningham is the best for the mighty mites. they do have lessons but I don't know what they are like.
they have the huge bowls, but they have those tiny 8" deep ones for them, then that one little one with the roll-in.
I know when I took my 8 year old and showed him lines and things to try that I accumulated about 6 other 6 to 10 year olds who started following along.
have fun.

Lookin for a little info.... wanted to know if anyone might know of a place or someone in the bay area who does skateboard lessons? My son is 7 and is obsessed with skateboarding. We bought him a miniboard for his 2nd birthday and wouldn't go anywhere without it he even busted out his two front teeth at age 4 on it. Thought maybe some lessons would help him a little more.

Laguna SkateGarden review

After some great sessions I am stoked to report that the new Laguna Skategarden is top notch. Located in Sebastopol just 15 min SW from Santa Rosa, its certainly not one of the bigger parks around although what is there is very well done. In front is a great little beginner bowl (which thankfully keeps the beginners well away from the more advanced tranny.) Next back is a large street area that the toe flippers seem quite happy in that is about 40% of the park. Next is a sweet combi bowl with great flow and the most "accessable" over vert pocket I've ever ridden. With tranny from about 6' to maybe 10' tops its fast and fun with near endless lines to find, and is maybe 30% of the park so its pretty good size. In the back of it all is a nicely shaped and symmetric peanut bowl with "tile" stamped into the 'crete and true pool coping recently given a protective clear coat. Almost as deep as the monster at the bottom of San Rafael's McGinnis Park, this bowl is not for the weak and is atleast 10' to 11' deep and almost 6' in the shallow end. The parks entire concrete surface was given a rusty earth tone color which really gives a nice look to the park, which goes great with the rest of the park which is a community shared garden, already full of life. The local skaters are friendly and take turns being the "guard" who locks the gate so they keep it open until its really hard to see every "sunset." Hours are 9am to Sunset, daily and is free. Being essentially in downtown Sebastopol (albiet on the edge of "downtown") almost any other services you may desire are very close by. Without being biased that this park is so near my home I can say that the Laguna SkateGarden in one of the finest of the 30+ parks I have ridden through 5 states of skate travel adventures. Without truly having it all like the epic Cunningham (a true dream park which I say is near perfect, quite worth the hassle of parking and paying in a "public" park? Like I say, near perfect) this little gem pretty much has it all in a less sizable portion. The vibes are chill, the park is visually interesting and very well poured and shaped everywhere. Hard to beat besides its smaller package, this newest park in Sonoma County is to me our best to date and a worthy stop during your skate travel adventures.
