Hugh's Skatelab session
On 5/5/2001 Glen wrote in from (216.102.nnn.nnn)

I don't know Todd's rates for birthdays. We wanted to rent it out but the rate was too much for us.

I just rented out the Brickyard last Monday.
It was $250.00 for about 4 1/2 hours. It may have been cheaper because
1. it was for a church group.
2. it was on Monday and they normally aren't open on Monday's.

Skatelab
On 5/5/2001 hugh r wrote in from (205.216.nnn.nnn)

All,
I have my 40th coming up in August. I am thinking it might be a good excuse to rent out skatelab for a session.

Anyone have an in? If not on pricing... then maybe on getting it on a day/session that works for most? But hopefully on pricing too...

I'm thinking it would be a good time for us all to get together! Let me know what you think... HR

don't forget the May 12th Revere session.
Maybe some guys with cones and Papa G with his homebrew timer could set up the Cyberslalom. Just an idea to add to the bank riding.

420 Race
On 5/1/2001 darryl wrote in from (209.179.nnn.nnn)

HERE IT IS SHORT AND SWEET.
1996 WE GATHERED A GROUP OF SPEED JUNKIES TO RACE DOWN TANTALUS FOR FUN. WITHIN THREE YEARS IT TURNED INTO AN UNDERGROUND EVENT NOBODY WANTED TO MISS. MARATHON STARTS, 50 RIDERS, 19 HAIRPINS, TWICE AS MANY CAMERAS, AND A MILE LONG FAST SECTION. AFTER WAS THE ALI'I KEGS AND DON'T FORGET THE DATE. H.P.D. HAS BEEN THERE EVERY YEAR... JUST A LITTLE TO LATE UNTIL LAST YEAR. THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD STOP THE RACE BY PARKING AT THE STARTING LINE. HA! WE ALL WALKED AROUND THE CORNER AND THE 5TH ANNUAL 420 WAS ON. THEY DID STOP ALL BUT TWO KIDS FROM MAUI SO WE STILL HAD A WINNER (SUCCESS IN MY BOOK)
YEAR 6 WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. THE POLICE WERE LARGE AND IN CHARGE. THEY LINED THE 4 MILE TRACK WITH CARS AND BIKES AND FLEW JUST OVER HEAD WITH THEIR CHOPPER. ALLRIGHT SO ONE FOR THE BAD GUYS BUT WHO SAYS ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END... WE'LL JUST HAVE TO CHANGE THE DATE. STAY TUNED...

I was looking through the archives for any messages about the 420 Race, I saw your posting about a show with many of us racing. I'm guessing it was the Australian Summer Games. How did it turn out? Where were you when you watched this? what country, chanel, and whats the name of the show? We have still not recieved footage from the event organizers and would like to see it. thanks

It's a total bummer. Barrett Junction and Morro Bay are both the same day. Jack rescheduled Morro not to conflict with Utah, then Marcus had to pick Barrett on the new date! @#$% happens.

Enlightenment
On 4/30/2001 GBJ wrote in from (24.18.nnn.nnn)

The cause of the conflicting competition schedules is the lack of any one "Power That Is". Slalom and its' events came from beneath the radar in a big hurry and longboard bowl riding is rarely seen as conflicting with skateboard or longboard racing. Hopefully, as and if these sports continue to grow, we will hopefully see greater efforts toward cooperative scheduling.

why
On 4/30/2001 concerned skater wrote in from (216.101.nnn.nnn)

I'm just throwing this question out to the powers that be-I don't even compete-but for the life of me I can't figure out why there are multiple events scheduled on the same weekend
For example, the Utah race and Kona contest were both last weekend. How is a rider who has limited longboarding events to begin with going to make it from Utah to Florida in time to compete his/her heat?
Answer: impossible
WHY? please enlighten us all

leo,
when will the competition in Valencia be? I have a friend from Valencia that is going back to visit this summer. I might go along with him. We were also thinking of going to Menorca and Ibizia.
Valencia will beat Leeds!

The first edi event of the season and gravity games qualifyer will take place on the french riviera,
in Nice, exactly Carros,it's a little town in the surrounding area of Nice.
The race is going to be one of the famous tracks ever in an EDI event, more than 1.5 miles long with
many hairpins and lots of turns.... Max speed around 50-55 mph a beautiful race with a giant media
coverage, and many tv broadcastings.

1° competencia de longboard en Valencia
On 4/26/2001 Leo wrote in from (146.18.nnn.nnn)

I am happy the first longboard competition in my hometown! there would be downhill, slalom and tricks modalities.
prices hasnt been decided yet, but i will donate the first deck of my company production. the downhill race is going to be in a 300-500mts street with an aproximate inclination of 30°-35°( i am going to measure it tonite), the slalom competition is going to have a 200mts st with at least 50 cones, and the tricks event will be held in the same road than the dh only shorter.

everyones invited
