SF Sunday

Hugh, I forgot to tell you that traffic into the city on the weekend is pretty bad, but coming back over the bridge is 10X worse. The earlier you can go and come back, the better. There really are no direct freeway routes to Purple Skunk, so you end up dealing with alot of city traffic.

Good Luck

SF Sunday
On 5/12/2001 Misterbill wrote in from (158.252.nnn.nnn)

Hugh,
If you get away today call me. Jason at Comet gave me a 44" deck for you. If you want to build it up for tomorrow I will find a way to get it to you. It is bare so you wmay want to pick up some grip at the Skunk. I live in Hayward so you will be passing close to me on your way to Purple Skunk in SF. Give me a call 510 889 7976 or 510 303 7718 and I will meet you with the board. It is about 10:25am by my watch.

For sunday it would work best for me if we skated after 2:30. I am having lunch in the city so I can just shoot over to the park. I will try to get ahold of HC and see what works best for him.

Bill

It's an EVENT...and it's only a week away! If you live in California, you should try to get to this one.
Check out the 'Slalom' section of this website to see just how big this is becoming.

SFsunday

The park is a pleasant but definitely slow ride including some extended pushing sections.
Some other suggestions: Presidio par, Southgate, Sunset or that spot that you(Dave) were talking about last time Mac Laren Park or something like that?

Anyway, I'll be down with anything.

See you Sunday,

Clayton

sunday sf
On 5/10/2001 hugh r wrote in from (205.216.nnn.nnn)

David,

I'm shooting for a sunday sf skate... I'm in contact with a couple of guys right now working out times and places. Golden Gate park is sounding pretty good.

We won't have a ton of time on sunday (6 hour drive back and then an extra hour for me) but for sure I want to meet up with as many skaters as possible... shoot some pics for my site... put some faces to names sort of thing... and of course SKATE!

I'm bringing my lap top so I'll post more when I have my family details worked out (gotta do the stuff I'm really going up there to do first!)

If we get done early enough on saturday, I might try to do a night session... not exactly sure where though (not even sure if I'll be able to break away on saturday at all!)

Talk to you all soon and look forward to meeting up... HR

If you guys can set up a ride with a week or more notice... I should be able to make a skatepark run with you all... let me know. This week won't work for so cal... next weeks morro bay... week after that is probably cool.

You dogs! Revere sounds so fun this weekend! I'll be out of town, but will be thinking of you.

SF area... been in contact with afew guys and am trying to put together a sunday ride in the SF area... maybe start out at Golden Gate park... then cross the bridge into Marin... still got to meet Wendel and see his shop. Should be a great time!

So Local Boys... what's your thoughts? HR

Anyone interested in doing the
"old fat guys on longboards hostile takeover",
like we've done at Revere, at Temecula?
I never ridden there but all have said it's real good for longboards.
You don't need to be able to drop in, just speed carves.

I wouldn't be right. I'll bring you a sixer of Sam Adams, that has been known to cure many age related issues.

hamm, just be sure to bring the pepto bismol for ed. at his age, everything just shoots straight through. he may as well just eat and drink on the can.

REVERE. FROM S.D.: 405 north, exit sunset (L). at Mandeville canyon, if the gate is open to the parking lot, enter there and go down the side of the school to the banks. if it's locked, continue down sunset and make a left on ALLENFORD. you'll see the school on the left. enter in the driveway closest to you. that will take you to the banks where i'll be RIPPIN' IT UP!! bring me a beer as well. my birthday passed and you DIDN'T GET ME SHIT!! you owe me a beer!!

sorry ed for the raggin'. bs2000 rules.

Kona Longboarding Contest 2001
On 5/8/2001 Marcus wrote in from (64.34.nnn.nnn)

I know that this was a couple weeks ago, but it's definitely still worth mentioning. The longboarding contest at Kona this year was awesome. There weren't a lot of spectators there, mostly staff and other people with "orange wristbands" (as opposed to the spectators white and blue bands). I did see quite a few people taking video, I'm not sure if it's going to be posted somewhere? Hopefully.

The results from the contest and a short article are posted at http://www.silverfish.cc/silverfish.asp. You can also find the results at www.konaskatepark.com if you look.
