Washington D.C. Slalomers!! Come out and play. TONITE!! Come to the Gaithersburg, Maryland, Park and RIDE lot, at the intersection of Md. Rt. 124 and the ramp from southbound I-270, at 9:00 p.m. and you will find our friendly slalom session. Everyone is welcome, veterans and newbies alike. How 'bout BoBo vs Slappy? I'm ready to see some racing! Dave Riordan? Al Chaney? The DC Downhill crew? Where is everybody? ...or are we it? Are there really ONLY 4 serious slalom riders in the whole Baltimore/Washington region? Let's burn a little urethane guys, or is turning your skateboard too much to ask?

I woke up around 8:00am and looked out my window and saw John and Shaggy out there setting couses. Found some Hostel housing right across the street from the event as I pulled into town around 4:00am. I'm too old to being doing this, next year, it's plane or train or at least someone else in the automobile. Great work John, see everyone there next year.

Top of the Prudential building used to be good. High price, but good and best view of city. Cappy's pizza, Hemmingway one block south of Boylston is slumming it but authentic college student food, bring a gun.

I'll be there on the 4th only, will no doubt prove my slalom novice status. Couldn't get my Comet in time, so I'm glad to hear there will be boards to try. Did cut out a chaput-like plank that seems to turn pretty well. See you there.

Expensive but great eats.
Most expensive: L'Espalier fixed price of $85, best french restaurant 30 Gloucester Street, a 4 minute skate. Better dress nicely- no speed suits or baggy jeans.
Icarus Restaurant Amazing deserts real good food. about $60 per person about a 7 minute skate casual dress
Olives in Charlestown real deep flavors abound here. figure $50. top rated gotta cab it for about $10 each way casual dress
Great food at average prices- The Franklin cafe. Shawmut Ave. about $20 for a drink and entree. 15 minute skate wear anything. They make good drinks as well- sort of off the beaten track though. Tway ate there and liked it.

Cheap eats while in Boston. Remember this will be the only day you can practice prior to the race next year.
El Pelon Restaurant authentic Mexican- frankly way better than the Mexican I've had in California. Most entrees are $3.75 all fresh ingredients- better than any expensive mexican food. Winner of "Cheap eats" award. 96 Peterborough St. 617 262-9090 this is a 15 minute skate. go with someone who knows how to get there. Also there is a good thai restaurant near there.
The Wrap- variety of tortilla roll up sandwiches with rice. 137 Mass Ave. 617 369-9087 items such as Peking duck sandwich and Caesar wrap are good. About $5. Within 3 minute skate. right on the same street as the Mass Ave. bridge.
Best Ice cream on the East coast and possibly the USA. Emac and Bolios. Winner of Best of Boston for past 7 years. Winner of Best desert in New York city 4 years running. 290 Newbury street. (617) 247-8772 $ blocks on massa ve- then take left on Newbury if skating and it is two blocks down. best flavors. Purple Cow, Raspberry Truffle, Vanilla - all the soft serve is made in house. Winner of best smoothies such as Passion cooler. About a 5 minute skate
Quick fast food . Boston Market. 245 Mass Ave. your basic cicken dinner with all the fixins. (617) 236-4447 about 5 minute skate.
Au Bon Pain french bakery cafe also fst food but okay. Thai Chicken sandwich is good. next to Boston Market.
Better food. Table service and take out. La Famiglia 250 Newbury Street (617) 247-1560. Humongous Pasta dishes. In fact if you can finish Mista de Pece, about 20 clams, 10 mussels, huge hunk of fish, 10 shrimp the meal is free for the whole table. (Don't even try to do it- only 2 people in Boston have finished it). Better to order the chicken Margarita- amazing. $15. Luncheon speacials start at $5.75.
Sonsie restaurant. 327 Newbury Street. (617) 351-2500. They might be busy so there could be a 15 minute wait for a table on the 4th. Excellent Mussels $9.95, calamari, fantstic Duck $20. Burgers are 9.95. It is more fancy but even as a grimy skater you won't be noticed in the cafe area. Outdoor and indoor dining. Don't forget to order the John Pierre Tea- even if you hate tea.
Stephanies restaurant on Newbury Street corner of exeter street. Best Yellowfin tuna Salad and Filet Mignon salad. about $15.
Basically it is hard to go wrong anywhere on Newbury St. Cafes abound. And of course any cafe is skater friendly. Within a 6 minute skate of the course you will find. 2 italian restaurants Davios, LA Famiglia, , , 2 indian restarants Kashmir (the Best) and Safron (no so hot) , 1 mexican (Casa Romero), a spanish restaurant with tapas, 2 chinese restaurants, 3 american cafes, armani restaurant, TGIF fridays, Steves greek restaurant, a thai restaurant, super cheap and really good sushi at Shino Suishi express (32 pieces for 25 bucks),
Cash Machine is on Mass ave. Fleet bank. there are two, one atm location is locked after 9pm.
Hopefully we will all eat together.
