I'll be there both nights. GBJ is that the Shady Grove Metro station that I somewhat pass by on 270 on the way north?
I can stop by there on my way up and pickup anyone that is vehicularly challenged.

I'll be down with another nightskate session. how about tomorrow evening or night. I'll be up for a ride around 7pm, as suggested, as long as traffic is not too heavy. a late night southgate session (car required) would be nice too.

let me know,

Clayton

erika, i'm down to ride whenever. night time weekly, or early morning weekends seem to be the standard best running times. whenever you get back, post or drop an e-mail, cool?

hey clayton, david, manolo, and others in the bay area: presidio runs sometime this week? manolo, you say there are some good runs to be had after seven? that's alot better than one in the morning, so let me know when you want to skate.

D.C. Summer Night Slalom Sessions
On 7/15/2001 GBJ wrote in from (24.18.nnn.nnn)

Friday AND Saturday nights, July 20 and 21, we will be running cones at the Gaithersburg, MD, Park-n-RIDE. The first course of each night will be ready at 9:00 pm, and we'll be riding 'til whenever. I know KMG and Yvonne will be making the trip from Pennsylvania, and expect that most or all of the regular crew will be there as well. I also know I promised to scout some sites that were more accessible to the whole D.C. area, but decided not to experiment with new locations when we're also expecting out-of-town visitors. So, who else is going to be there? Riordan? Gale? Chaney? Let's see if we can get enough guys to start breaking into ability classes and actually having some races. The Gaithersburg Park-n-RIDE lot is located at the intersection of MD Rt. 124 (Quince Orchard Road) and the ramp from southbound I-270 onto Rt. 124. If you're not sure whether this is for you, whether you can find it, or whether you might embarass yourself by riding with this crowd, just drop me an e-mail. That way I can send you an e-mail back that says, "Yes it is. Yes you can, and no you won't."

grinch and n.c.surfer-
it would be fun to skate with you guys up north. i'm in ireland right now, but i'll be back in the area in a few weeks. if you ever plan on running some hills in the area post it or email me, i'll join in. if you want to be crazier than i'm willing, i'll spot you guys or be the driver. it would be nice to skate with people for a change...

West LA College is located in Culver City near the 405 and 10 freeways, just southeast of Jefferson and Overland, at 4800 Freshman Drive. We'll skate on Sophomore Drive behind West LA College, which is closed to traffic on Sundays. To get there, take Freshman Drive to the right turn, and then up the hill, where the name changes to Sophomore Drive. We'll be past the "do not enter" sign. We'll be up a bit further.

Gaithersburg Tonite! (sounds like a tv show)
On 7/14/2001 GBJ wrote in from (24.18.nnn.nnn)

Mitch, et al., My back is in such a state of spasm that there is no way I'll be riding tonight. I'll probably drop by to watch and hang anyway. Stay tuned for information on next week's effort to really increase the numbers of people attending the D.C. area sessions. I am researching new riding venues that'll be more generally accessible to the whole region and will announce next weekend's sessions before the end of this weekend. I know KMG is coming down from Pennsylvania for sessions on both next Friday night and Saturday night. Tway's not going to make it this time, but he'll be around later in the month. Longboardkook needs to rally up the Virginia troups. Thus far, the only visitor we've been seeing from across the Potomac is Slappy Maxwell. Dave Gale's part of the country has recently suffered a serious multi-round bout with nature, so I understand that he's busy and all, buuuuuuut... sometimes, Dave, you've just got to say, "what the ****?", and do what you have to do.

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that for anyone who's been considering travelling to the D.C. area to get in on our sessions, next weekend's looking like a good time. If we can actually attract some decent number of skaters, I'll begin working on a D.C. Summer Nights Slalom Series point system, we can begin to divide into some competitive classes, and start really racing. It'd be for bragging rights only, but sooner or later, we're going to have to start competing amongst ourselves. There's no experience like race experience, where one must give his/her best at a given time, with no rebates or re-runs. To the winner goes the glory and to the losers go the motivations to work harder. See ya next week.

GGP 2001
On 7/13/2001 Hamm wrote in from (24.88.nnn.nnn)

I shot Don an email, but wanted to formally appoligize
to Adam & Fat City Racing for the 'tone' of my post regarding GGP 2001. Re-reading it I realize that it may have come across as negitive engery and I was not trying to play 'devils advocate'. Actually it was typed in excited haste as I was trying to garner as much info as possible to use in the race that some of you may have heard I'm putting on.

Great job guys! The slalom movement is really moving!
