GBJ - We still have 15th Street as a fallback for the DC Downhill, but we felt the zoo run is better and more technical.

DC Downhill...

Nevermind, Doug, I see from Anthony's post on the Speedboarding page that you are referring to the September race. Was running on 15th Street an option this year? The road seemed a little dodgy last year, but there's no mistaking that the intersection of 15th and New Hampshire Ave. NW is a much higher-profile location than is Rock Creek Park. The reason I'm asking, completely understanding that the conditions and the course will probably be improved and that the decision is a good one, I was standing next to two City Councilmen at last year's race, and they seemed quite stoked. I'm just curious to know whether that "support" evaporated, or whether the move to the new site was just based on conditions and convenience?

Doug, Are you referring to the DC Downhill Race in September, or the second installment of the race that was held last Spring?

We just got approved by the National Zoo to hold the race on their grounds this year. The course is definitely more challenging than last year's. It is on a smoothly paved road that leads to the National Zoo's vetenarian facility's in Rock Creek Park. I will put up video of the course after this weekend. There are several news groups and videographers that should provide some good footage. ps If the circus continues following Gary Condit, we can count on extra news coverage - he lives across the street from the course.

Anyone in the Denver area interested in getting together for some informal slalom? Jeffs and I are trying to get something going, to see if there's any interest.
Thanks, Duane

Red Bull Streets of SF Big Air

And the winners are...
4-Man Race ========== 1. Chris Chaput 2. Brent De Keyser 3. Jeffrey Schonzeit
6-Man Race ========== 1. Lee Dansie (again) 2. Chris Chaput 3. Brent De Keyser
Big Air Competition =================== 1. Waldo Autry (Over 90') 2. Chris Chaput (86' 6") 3. Jeffrey Schonzeit (83')
Big Money ========= $2,500 - Chris Chaput $1,500 - Brent De Keyser $1,500 - Lee Dansie $1,000 - Waldo Autry $ 500 - Jeffrey Schonzeit
In typical Red Bull fashion, we rocked, we rolled, we soared (we sore now), we crashed and burned and replaced equipment (11 hangers for me alone!) and we can't wait to get back to the top. The Afterburner Party sent us into the night with our war stories and memories intact. Tom Mason has once again lead us to the promised land, where a Red Bull sits at the gate and says "Luge Your Mind, drink this".
