Hey All,
I've been tooling around on a REAL WOOD Long Board for the last couple of years and would really like to get involved in the whole slalom scene. I'm in Fresno, Ca., and I'm looking for places to practice/learn and if there are any races you would recommend for the novice. Any info would greatly help the newbie!

The first race at West LA College in a year featured warm and sunny weather and heated competition in the skateboard races. In the skates and gates slalom on the big hill, Steve Olsen's time on the first run was fast enough to win the race, but he went ahead and improved it on the second run. In the tight slalom, Attila Aszodi clocked the fastest time (not counting penalties), but after adding penalties Richy Carrasco was fastest by 0.03. Richy also took the combined title.
Skates and Gates Slalom (best of 2 runs): Intermediate skateboard: Ryan Shaw 14.907 Advanced skateboard: Steve Olsen 28.453 Richard Carrasco 28.885 John O'Shei 29.003 Don O'Shei 29.391 Chicken Deck 30.228 Chris Chaput 30.882 Attila Aszodi 31.730 Roger Jennings 32.264 Sean Mallard 34.581 Michael Gorman 37.899 Floyd Reid 41.081
Tight Slalom (best of 4 runs): Richard Carrasco 14.267 Attila Aszodi 14.297 Chicken Deck 14.762 Steve Olsen 14.924 John O'Shei 15.520 Floyd Reid 15.818 Sean Mallard 16.770 Don O'Shei 16.959 Roger Jennings 18.747 Michael Gorman 18.752

weeknight slalom sounds good and yes I am proud owner of 50 cones ;) . Tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday would be perfect. There are at least two parking lots in the Presidio that would work. Maybe we can do slalom and some downhill.
anyway, send me an e-mail or give me a call,
see you,
Clayton

We should probably move this to Misc. Equipment if it goes any further.

Julius, I have 70 "cheer phone" cones that you can take a look at. They run $0.61-0.69 and there is no shipping charge.
See you guys tomorrow.

Wow, DT that is one sick cool idea. The old single action Colt hasn't been on an outing in a long time. Been wanting to try out the Leemo at the dump road, too. Count me in, we'll figure out the date.

‘LOG’ Longboards, Brixton Cycles and Urban Boards welcome you all to the third of our occasional downhill groop meets, this Sunday 18 Nov, midday onward in Crystal Palace Park, upon the lovely new surface around the auditorium/fishing pond. Bring your board and your broad! We are a non-profit, non-competitive loose unit of friends, bought together by a mutual love of longboarding and networking….
Trains run ½ hourly from Victoria Rail Station. Zone 4 Travel Card needed. Exit Crystal Palace Station, turn right, walk 50 feet and you are in the park. Head uphill and veer right towards the top ponds.
If its raining, we hit Meanwhile 2 Sausage Bowl under the Westway….. Royal Oak Tube – exit station, cross road, turn right then left for 1 min. Keep under the Westway and veer left. Seek and ye shall find!

Yea, I feel lucky. Just did gmr two days in a row, bottom, top, ridge, back, the whole thing. Two days of sliding through corners and not falling once. We got rides on motorcycles, road crew, and some very cute (too) young girls. I kid you not, they can back the next day for more rides up the hill, niiiice.
DT, Count me in. I'll be ready for a good dump after eating at that mexican food place! For target practice I can pitch small rocks off the corner of my wheels to hit targets on the side of the road. It all makes sense to me!
