WLAC, Pad up boys. That surface is rough.
Good luck to everyone there! I wish I was there to race with you.

Go into the park until you run into the closed gate. There will probably be a number of cars already parked at the bottom, park in this area. Walk around the gate and the road forks going uphill and then merges back together going downhill. I've set up courses on both roads this weekend. I would say the left might be better. This is good place to start because you're still near the cars to tweak equipment. I bring a backpack with me to carry cones and water. It's not a long walk but it makes it easier. There's another gate past these hills that goes into park to the trails and marina. In this section there are two spots to set up some nice GS courses. It's all a loop so its easy to find people. But I would start in the first section until people show up.
Screw it! I was going to see DJ Krush spin at Buzz friday night but I'll go to Vans instead. After the 9pm session we could hit the Occoquan Park road. It's only two exits north up 95 from Potomac Mills same exit as the Park & Ride.

Hey, I don't mean to mislead anyone. I copied and pasted Scott Peer's earlier post about this race for people too lazy to scroll down. I myself have zero information about this race except to say that I will be there to hang with the bros and race whatever they come up with. AAA baby!

Sunday December 16 features IGSA regional races for gravity bike, street luge, and classic luge (buttboard). Also, there will be a giant slalom race on D Street with separate classes for skateboards and inline skates. The giant slalom course will be set in an open style allowing fast riding. There will also be slalom practice.
Dec. 16 Schedule: 9:00 Setup 10:00 Registration and practice starts 12:00 Giant slalom race 1:00 Classic luge (buttboard) race 1:30 Street luge race 2:00 Gravity bike races 3:00 Awards ceremony
We're starting to plan the 2002 season, now that permits and insurance are all worked out. Please help us shape the calendar! More slalom? Giant slalom? Faster courses? Easier? Ideas for sponsors? IGSA points for slalom? All inputs are welcome.
West LA College is located in Culver City near the 405 and 10 freeways, 2 signals southeast of Jefferson and Overland, at 4800 Freshman Drive. Enter through the first open gate (A Street) into campus. There's a big parking lot for warming up, a gentle hill for beginners and tight slalom, the main slalom hill (up to 10 percent grade), and the luge and bike hill (C Street, over 10 percent grade, steep!).

Well, yesterday was the fisrt legal comp in My hometown, it consisted on 2 modalities, speedboarding and slalom(just 5 cones and u have to make any technique going down) slalom was female and male categories and speedboard just male.
riders gathering started at 730am and guys from Caracas(capital of country) and other cities arrived the night bfore and some slept in there in their cars, at first a poor organization was clear to all, there were only one coordinator to the whole event and he made a lot of effort to put a great event. the course was a 700mts road with just one right cambered curve and then a long straight were top speeds were reached, around 70kph+ , the finish was a hard part cause it was on a mellow curve that had speedbumps where most of the crashes took place. Practices started around 8:00am and the same course for speedboarding was also for the slalom( i hate to use that word on this event). this practices were very hard to make specially for speedboarders becuase there were ladies practicing, and some guys ripping. one of the speedboarders reached the curve at 35mph+ and found that 2 guys were sliding and he tried to pass them by the outside and hitthed the curb and went down and broke his ankle. most of the guys were racing in shorts without any protective equipment and some only used regular helmets. so u can imagina how the rashes were when they hitted the asphalt. the riding level of the ladies were very high, they can do colemans, BS and FS, 2 handed colemans, stand up slides and pendulums, and its great to see chicks skating!. the male slalom competition was fierce, some just made 2 high speed slides and some guys like me did a lot of slides at medium velocity, trying to pass at least 3 cones at 5mts each. the DH comp. started around 2pm adn consisted on 4 heats of 3 riders and one of 4 riders, 1st and 2nd passed to next round. i got to race on the 1st heat against the champ and another fast guy that both weights around 90-100kgs, the start was the most crucial part, we started at the same time and we were head to head until we reached the curve, this curve its better to take it by the outside cause the inenr part has a deep sewer cover and bad asphalt and a lot of patch holes, well all the right aprt of the course consisted in that, grills and pathc holes, the left part of the road was very neat. i had to airbrake for a sec and passed the curve very cole one to another, then the weight took its advantge, they started to pull in front of me and i started t draft them we arrivd at the finish the less than a sec of difference between us, for me was the glory, i have raced the champ 2 times and this was the closest we have arrvd the finish line, i know that this would be his last time. the final consisted in a 4 man heat and it was so fierce that at the end they were so cloes that all of them crashed during stop, it was fun and painfull, it was just like the crash at "the monkey"... as this event was sponsores by a lot of bransa including TVS skateboards the winner o}f the DH received a complete deck, also the rest of the winners get shoes, clothes, lenses, bags, and a medals.
this was the first legal comp after the outlaw one i made back in august, this is good cause the sport was on a coma state and we needed this kind of event.
i still have the dream of making an intl event in Caracas, a 1,2 km road with a lot of curves one of the its a 90° left very hard to take.

Well it looks like the rain won't get us(according to forecast) but winds of 20+mph will. I Probably won't skate today unless someone in the city tells me that conditions are good. Clayton, Jon, HC, or anybody else, let me know. 510 303 7718 Leave a message.

I'll be there this sunday morning... Take the 5 to San Juan Capistrano, exit Ortega Hwy. Go South/east on Ortega for a few miles, past all the houses. Make a right at the corner of the soccer field, it will have a sign saying dump or landfill. Go all the way to the end, watch out for skaters carving/bombing down the hill.
