I am heading out for the Vans park. Not sure what other DC area riders are going to be there.
$14 bucks is steep. I remember the 80's when I was to hardcore to pay to skate. But then again, I did not have these disney land parks either.
Hopefully I wont break my Knucklehead.

I won't be going to Vans, unless someone can get some strings pulled for me. I doubt I'd be able to fill my "team list" again. The amount that Vans increased their session fees to is too much for people to sustain. Sorry I 'waited' this long to mention that, but it took me as long just to find out the specifics of Vans' new fees.
See you all Sat &/or Sunday.
Mitch, I'll bring the trucks for you.

Sorry PCB, that cut-away now resides in Canada [they need good slalom gear too]. Sold it about a month ago. Now it's just my Response and my Turner. Seems like they'll be all I need.
See you in Gaithersburg on Sunday.

Isn't not knowing and guessing and being able to figure out courses on the spot part of the fun. I've been watching some skiing on OLN, don't they just set the courses on the spot. I like the ISSA idea of having coaches from a visiting team set the course. Although it might not work here to consider the different states/areas, the way ISSA considers the different countries. But we could have let's say a Bostonian set the course at a National Event in Cali, and maybe a Californian reciprocate or a Mid-Atlantic skater or a Midwesterner or North Coast or Floridian or South Coast or NorthWesterner. Since most of the skaters are concentrated in Cali and it is such a big state, maybe divide the different parts of Cali into regions as well.

Mitch, be sure to bring the trade stuff. I'll bring the deck.
Looking forward to seeing all you guys. It's been a while hasn't it?
Quadgal will be there in spirit. She can't make it this time, but there's always the Gathering.
I'll only be there Sun. Have to work late Fri and Sat.
See yall there.

Please accept my apologies if you've seen this too many times, but here's one last post:
Sunday December 16 features IGSA regional races for gravity bike, street luge, and classic luge (buttboard). Also, there will be a giant slalom race on D Street with separate classes for skateboards and inline skates. The giant slalom course will be set in an open style allowing fast riding. There will also be tight slalom practice.

Entry fees for club members are $25 for competitors, and riding the practice hill only will be $10 for those not racing (free for paid racers). Joining Westwood Ski and Sports Club as a full member is encouraged, and entitles you to participate in ski and snowboard races and trips, water ski trips, parties, skating practices, equipment discounts, and more. Please bring your checkbook to become a full member ($30/year). Day memberships are available for $5/day, and are required for all riders who are not full members (i.e.: non-member fees are $30 and $15). Juniors (under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and will be charged only a practice fee even if they race. Spectators are free. Also, the first few who come early to help with the street cleaning and setup in the morning will receive a free race entry!
Race awards include wheels from Kryptonics and Turner Downhill, Converse luge shoes, Darren Lott Streetluge Survival Guides, Westwood glasses, and more.
Protective gear: for slalom and giant slalom helmets, pads (elbow and knee), and hand protection (gloves and/or wrist guards) are required, and hip pads are recommended. Please, no short shorts or tank tops. For street luge, buttboard, and gravity bikes, IGSA equipment rules will be used (helmets, leathers, and leather gloves are required).

Cool idea of swapping "permanent courses" in DC & Boston. I'll make sure GBJ returns the favor even if we have to break his other thumb.

Mostly cloudy and in the low-50s on Sunday with rain coming in during the evening and continuing through Monday. I don't know what the original intent of the trip was, but it doesn't look like a slalom safari. You really need to be here on Saturday, if you wanna ride, although I won't be there. We can hang a bit Sunday, but I've an early start on Monday and work 'til after sunset every day. Hmmm... Let me know, I could probably pick you up on Sunday too, So you and Slappy, or whoever, just let me know what you're going to do. E-mail's fine.

GBJ, I ain't no flake. If I were I would say I was coming and then not show up ;)
Money is not the object this time as the ticket is already paid for. I'll be going stir crazy after 7 hours on a choo-choo. I'll have to race almost as soon as I get off the giant metal millapede. I'll get in at 3pm. Not much daylight to work with then. What's the temps in DC now?

I chose to arrive on Sunday so I would not have to eat crow in fronty of Lbk I'm in DC until Tuesday afternoon. GBJ is out of commission too and so is Bobo so who's gonna ride?
I'll set a bunch of courses. For everyone, that way people will have an idea of what type of stuff I might set for the 4th of July. I want there to be no suprises- just everyone ready and prepared to race.
I would like to check out more than 1 dc slalom spot and set a few "permanent courses" so people can pick what they like about the courses and what they don't like. When GBJ comes up for the 4th I would also like him to set a few "permanent courses". I'm sure people are always happier if they can run a course that might have something in commmon with a course they might see in competition. That way racers can have some level of preparedness and know roughly what to practice for.
Hester is losing weight, but through his powers of voodoo he is giving it all to me... 180 lbs at 22% body fat and counting.

Alright, Gilmour, you flake. Don't keep us all waiting to make our plans. The D.C. crew is one of the friendliest, most helpful bunch of guys you'd ever want to meet. I am sure someone can get you to wherever you need to be, but don't keep us waiting until the last minute to let us know where you're going to be and when.

Here's what been discussed with some additions, feel free to chime in. Van's Friday night 9:00pm session, with possible late night slalom nearby. Saturday 11:00am Fountainhead Park. Sunday 1:00pm Gaithersburg Park and Race. Maybe a Virginian can swing by and get JG on his way to G'burg.

Much better than dump road, but still rough enough that you probably would set a course elsewhere. It is very rideable though you just have to pick from the zillion wheel duro's carefully. Ride hte same Duro front and back for the pavement.

JG, If your leaving Boston on a fast train at 8:00am sunday, that puts you in DC around noon Sunday? If you aren't carrying a ton of gear you can hop on a metro to Shady Grove station and I could pick you up there, just 10 minutes from Park and Race.
