We're scheduling the first/last Grassroot Slalom event of 2001 for Monday, December 31, at 1pm, at the famed La Costa del Norte in Shell Beach. We'll set a dual course on the flats for beginners, plus a practice GS course on the steeper portion of the hill. Contact me for directions and details - email hgordon@surveyor.com

Hey guys, sorry I didn't make it out this weekend, family and things got in the way of the addiction. About the blue hairs on Drumaldry, they probably have kids our age who use to bomb those hills. Probably brought back some memories of when they bought those properties in the 70's. Kook you should've just parked and started skating. I'm up for going next weekend, my kids will be away and I'm not expecting anyone to be flying in.

The wind died down by the time I got to Pentagon.
I hit Occoquan Park after an hour.
It would've been the perfect spot to meet all along.
Gate closed, and no rangers the whole time.
You could lay down about 500 cones on the road and still have room for more.
I'm going to ride it next Sunday.
I want to get in as many rides at these places as possible until Mid-March when they open and aren't rideable during the day.

Well, my youngest brother "longboardkook jr" informed me that the Pennsylvania bunny slope resorts should have the lifts running by Wednesday the 26th. I'll be hanging up my slalom skateboard in favor of my snowboarding; however, I'll be there for the dates of the DC OUTLAW WINTER SERIES.
If you are in the Mid-Atlantic area, come and try snowboarding with younger kook and me. You will be able to recognize me. I'm the guy that you will be looking at my back, just like in slalom skateboarding.
What a kook am I.

Looks like the holiday shopping and traffic got the best of DC today. I also hung out at Drumaldry from 2:10 to 2:30 but nobody showed. Must have got there at the wrong time. The hill looks fun to ride but the damn geriatrics were staring me down while I was waiting in my vehicle. I couldn't hang much longer because I was sure one of them blue hairs was going to call the cops. (Yes Mr. Policeman sir, I'm just hanging here to skateboard this nice hill. Well, we plan to block off the road and....) Mitch, you must be related to someone on Drumaldry Dr. Does your grandmother let you put cones down her driveway and then on to Drumaldry? Guess we will have to hit that place some other day.

I went to both G-burg P&R and Drumaldry today. I didn't get a chance to check ncdsa after 9:30am, so I left from where I was at 11, went up to P&R and hoped for the best. It was pretty good weatherwise. The SW wind (or SE?) was pretty much tame, blowing down the hill if at all. After awhile, I left and got to Drumaldry a little after 3. No one there, and the clouds were darkening the sky somewhat. I didn't feel up to carpe viam by myself either, so I holiday shoppa obligatorus instead.

It was another good session at Fountainhead. The weather was not too bad. Mitch and me battled it out. In the end I had the faster time. To tell the truth, I had run Mitch’s runs for him because he didn't make it. Can't blame him, the DC traffic was real bad today. Mitch, how about G-burg Park and Ride for some dual races on Sunday?

Attention DC area racers. I still do not have a timing system. But I might as well shout it out.
DC OUTLAW WINTER SERIES
4 -5 race season starting in January ending in April.
Tentative dates (weather permitting)
January 12th – Gaithersburg Park and Race
February 2nd – Fountianhead Park
February 23rd – Gaithersburg Park and Race
March 16th – Fountianhead Park
April 6th – “ FINALS” Site TBD.
Race time is High Noon. 12PM
Permission and Permits? We don’t need no stinking permission or permits!!!
Skate at your own risk!!!! Pads are optional.
Duel GS or Hybrid courses.
No entry fee. All you need to do is bring a friend.
Divisions:
Groms: 16 and under
Open: 17-29
Masters: 30+
Email with questions or directions.
If it rains or snows. Keep an eye on the events forum. I will post all schedule changes and updates a few days prior to each event.
