Brian you might want to bring along a push broom when you set up for the DC Outlaw Race tomorrow. The county salted and sanded the roads and public parking lot this past week when an ice storm hit. Mitch, PCB, Slappy and the rest of the crew might also want to bring a broom if they have one. Also, John Dillon called and he said he will be there but will likely have to borrow someone’s board.
Oh and I think PA Dan meant to say he will be expecting a first behind me.

Anyone in driving distance to DC, you should come to the race tomorrow! Show your support for slalom racing, and that the east coast has serious people! BTW, I'll be expecting 1st place.

so bill, are you not sure if you are coming or not? i will be there, but if you get there at noonish that would be better because even though it probably is'nt going to rain, sometimes the thick morning fog can make things wet in the early morning hours. skating is always a good way to work off a hang-over. i'll be there, bill, bring my comet for me!

1st race of the DC winter slalom series is on for tomorrow at the Gaithersburg Park and Ride.
Pray for dry weather and no wind.
I will be there around 11am to set and mark the courses. Since we have two untested timing systems the race will be duel hybrid. I will bring a stop watch just in case. Since we hopefully will have several new racers. The courses will be set easy with mild offsets. I will be able to easily run them on my 47 inch hyper carve.
The main idea is to have fun and introduce new people to slalom racing.
If anyone has any questions or needs additional info or directions. Send me a note or check www.eastcoastslalom.com.
I will be bringing extra boards and pads so no one has an excuse for not showing up.
Hope to see some new and old faces tomorrow. Practice will start at 12pm.

IGSA and Westwood Ski and Sports Club are now in the process of getting permits for the 2002 season on Sundays at West LA College. We'll have racing for STREET LUGE * GRAVITY BIKE * CLASSIC LUGE * INLINE * SKATEBOARD, with tight slalom on almost all dates and either downhill, fast slalom or GS races, too. On dates with downhill racing, the giant slalom hill will be open for practice. We anticipate that all races (including slalom) will be scored in the IGSA world rankings at least as regional events (and some may gain higher status). Season titles will be awarded for: street luge, bike (2 classes), classic luge/buttboard, inline downhill, downhill skateboard (maybe?), slalom/GS skateboard, and slalom/GS inline, using the IGSA points formula (with tiebreakers if needed). As the permits progress watch for more postings here and on the contest calendar. The first race is planned for early February! If you're not on the email list for announcements and would like to be, please email me and indicate which disciplines interest you.

Take HWY1 north past Morro Bay, past Cayucos; check the waves at both places if you have time, it's gonna be good. Keep going until you get to the town of Cambria. Go through 3 lights. Shorty after the third light, your'll see a cross street, NO LIGHT. At Weymouth St. turn right. Go up the hill to the FIRST cross street, Brighton, turn left. Follow the road to the cul de sac. Park. Look for the kooks on slalom boards, you're there! We'll have pads and boards for demo. Hope to see you there.

ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! IMPORTANT 2nd GATHERING Information!
The State of Maryland has just thrown me a MAJOR curveball by calling and informing me that allowing me to reserve The Gathering site on the weekend was a mistake made by a person who didn’t know better, and since it was not yet secured by payment they are either canceling or moving my reservation!!
This is not a huge problem for me, but I have nearly 50 people coming from all over the U.S. for whom a schedule change may represent a problem.
If you are currently registered for The 2nd Gathering, please send an e-mail to gbjphotoworks@hotmail.com or secondgathering@hotmail.com, and let me know whether moving this event back by one weekend, to the weekend of May 3, 4 and 5, will upset any plans already made. Please let me know ASAP!! I have already re-rented The Gathering site for the new weekend, secured with payment this time.
I apologize for all of the inconveniences that this may cause. This is the second time they’ve done this to me (once for an event that then never happened, last year). I hope everyone can still make it! If nothing else, this puts TWO weeks between The Catalina Classic and The 2nd Gathering. If I’m really lucky, a bunch of you will write to me and tell me that this option is MUCH BETTER.
Let me know SOON!

The DC Winter Slalom Series is on... I will also have my timing system by this weekend. So we should be all set.. The big question is the weather. Pray for it to be dry. And bring your goggles. Also, remember the entry fee. BRING A FRIEND TO INTRODUCE TO SLALOM. Or not.
I have acquired several new boards already this winter so if anyone needs to borrow a board, I have got you covered. So not having a slalom board is no excuse for not showing up.
I know the weather is unpredictable. If it rains or snows, Maybe we can do banked slalom course on the street course at the VANS park.
Check out www.eastcoastslalom.com for additional details.

The larger question looms, and that is whether we're still on. I haven't heard from Brian in awhile, but the way I see it is that we're supposed to be at the G-Burg Park and Race at noon. I've heard nothing to the contrary. I'll be there.
