The weather man says cloudy for Saturday, might rain
including Sunday. I will post conditions in Palo Alto
Late Friday Night, and Saturday Early AM.
Hopefuly a few hours of flatland dual slalom,
and if the weather is decent, we can hit the PATH for
a 70 cone single track speed runs.
Only 2 more weeks before TLP!!!
Erik T. Thanks for the great race @ GGP last weekend!!!
E-mail for directions to GRS Palo Alto

You guys pick a spot and I will show up. I will also ride Vans if anyone wants to do that. If Fountianhead is closed that would be a good location. Still close to Occoquan and Vans.

Have you guys scoped out those full pipes in Alexandria. Are they real or a myth?

Sorry the Occoquan plan sounds a little half-baked to me. What are you going to do if they decide to open early?

I'm going to check out other spots. And if they really are closed this weekend I'd rather ride Fountainhead for slalom. (much better pavement, and again, Occoquan is still available at night because of street lights.)

PWFP

Slappy, don't bother checking out PWFP. The pavement is less than optimal, skateboarding is "illegal" there and the ranger lives on premesis. I checked the entire place out, with the exception of the closed off road by the Visiter's Center. Take it from me, you don't want to be caught on that road, let alone on a skateboard.

According to the web site Occoquan and Fountainhead don't open to the public until Monday. I have 2 votes for Occoquan for saturday. Start the race at noon, do a GS and a slalom. After that eat then hit vans for banked slalom from 7-9. Want to get one last run at Occoquan before it's open to the public for the season.

Slappy, not sure where you live but give me a ring if you
feel like practicing. That hill off Beulah is fun. Saturdays
a Deli is open at the high rise but sunday is deserted. I think
the bust factor is minimal. Oh yeah, I live in Kingstowne and
to my surprise they are opening a Chipotle!

On 3/6/2002 slappy wrote in from (64.236.nnn.nnn)

Ohm, funny you should post about that area.
i was scouting it out last night on my way home from work.
i thought i saw a road behind the beulah cemetary but it had no pitch.
the kohl's parking lot in kingstowne also looks good but is a sure bust.

Fountainhead and Occoquan are both probably gone for day riding until next Fall. Occoquan is still rideable at night when the gates close.

We're thinking of doing a GRS race this upcoming Sunday, March 10. Location hasn't been set, but it will be in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Los Osos, or Cambria as a fallback. Let me know if you're interested.

Wes, I've been scouting new spots to ride in VA. I was thinking of checking out Prince William Forest Park right near Quantico on Saturday. I've ridden the trials a few times on my mountain board. I remember it having some really nice paved hills as well.

Mitch,
Predicted weather for this weekend is nice Saturday and then rain late, leading on into Sunday. In order to prevent a repeat of last Sunday, how about changing the race to Saturday?
