Dear all, I have been thinking of hosting an underground race, basically show up with a board and you can run. maybe catagorize it by weight or something. But I want to know is this a cool thing or is it kinda frowned upon by the skate gods. I live in Michigan so there are no real races, and I have found a really awesome hill that would be great for downhill race. If we run during the day there is no problem with traffic. If any one can give any advice on how to set one up, please email me or post here. Thank you all

Dogtown promo tour

It's 9:30am Tuesday, and I just got to work a little while ago. I've been to Eisenberg's Skatepark (Plano, TX) this morning. Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva made an appearance there to do a short TV spot to promote the new Dogtown movie. Got to watch TA skate a ramp (on approx. 36" double kick deck) as video was fed live to TV. The man may be 44, but he can still rip, and when he bails, he gets right up again just like a kid. Peralta looked like he was tired (or barely awake), and talked about the busy promo tour. I had to get my cherry 1977 G&S Warptail signed, and Stacy commented on how the equipment "has come a long way", and he was impressed with the like-new condition of my old setup. The rest of today won't matter much - I met two of my old heroes this morning! Can't wait for the film, I know it will be insane. The really old school still rules!

Scabs-I spent last week skating at Kona with lil' Joe and Yancey Meyer. I took them to see my old bandmates from LA who now call themselves Flogging Molly. It was a BLAST. I'm planning on skating the banked slalom too, but I'm waiting to see if my parents are going to stay here the weekend. If they do, then I won't be able to beat you! Here's to hoping my lovely parents want to leave Friday. You along with some others might have to be our "east coast representas". sk8hard!

Five days to the Banked Slalom event (sat) followed by the Florida Oldschool Jam (sat nite) and I`m already getting nervous. I`ve been buisy and haven`t practiced on trannys but I`ll do that tomorrow or wed. I don`t have high expectations of a podium place but ya never know. It should be a gas anyhoos. Secret weapon will be fine tuned tomorrow (I just got the ABEC II proto Flashbacks) and riding on pure stoke.
If anyone from here wants to hook up Friday nite, email me and I`ll shoot ya my cell phone#. Also, any out of towners needing to travel light, I should have a big box of goodies. Power drill and wrenches too.
Now if I can only get some sleep..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yestaerday took place LomasXtremE,(the names is a game of words, "lomas" is "hill" in spanish and also "Lo mas" means "the more"). the event consisted in 3 competitions: Speedboarding, techiniques and SG slalom.
We had many sponsors including: Landyachtz, Gravis, Ambigous, Von Zipper, Black Flys, Sector 9, Accel, and some local surf & skate shops.
The competition started with the SG slalom competition(it was more a longoboard slalom) 120mts long with 10 cones, 1st cone was placed at 10mts from the start. it was a medium steep road so when u started to pass the cones u enter pretty fast. it was the 1st time that we placed a slalom competition, everyone was very excited and nervous because of the skill needed to make the cones. the rules were, eacho cone knocked down added 1 sec at the end, and each cone missed added 2 second. this was because when u misseed a cone u gained more speed and could recover from the missing. if u fell of the board it was considered a dq run. times were between 21.54secs for the first time and 39secs for the latest places. it was very fun to see. winner won on a s9 with green kryptos, and 2nd place used a s9 with red kryptos 76mm.
the following event was techniques of women. only 4 riders signed up, they rock the house!, those girls can slide thay can do colemans, pendulums, one handed, 2 handedwhatver u asked. that was a very nice comoetition.
after that it was men´s turn. 18 contestants givin all their best, the guy who won made this sick heelside 2 handed slide arms all stretched, he almost touches his face with the asphalt, also power slides, colemans, 360°´s, 2 wheel slides were present.
after a good brake the event that always get more attentio: Downhill. the road was about 1km long the start was on a steep 1 line street about 30 mts long with excellent surface, then a 90° right turn that lead to a 3 lines avenue but with a gnarly full of holes and cracks, most of the crashes were on that turn. after that turn was a 500+mts long mellow steep road a little bit turned to the left. It was difficult to mantain a nice tuck due to the cracks on the road. then it was the hardest part of the course a tight chicane left-right that lead to the final and fastest straight of the course, top speeds were in the range of 40+mph. the heats were of 4 heats of 3 men and 2 heats of 4 men. 1st and 2nd passed to second round, the final was of 4 men.
it was a beautiful day, and the comoetitions were excellent. one guy apporached to me and told me "this is the best competition i ever assisted" (we ahd only 4 competitions before this one). those words made my day and pay the hard work that my friends and i invesdted on the organizaation.
pics will be posted soon.
cheers

Finally, the skaterelated.com page has been updated!, great job CC, best thing is that we can see all kind of events, from slalom to street luge, now, when God is going to hear my prayers about a unified calendar, theres room for every organization and its pretty lame that 2 events are scheduled the same days. i wonder how many will go to hotheels and how many will go to maryhill, hmmm..

Cascade Slalom Association will be hosting a regular slalom session every Sunday at North Seattle Community College (SE parking lot) starting this upcoming Sunday April 7th at 2:00.
Several different courses will be set as this area is big enough to run both a dual and a GS/hybrid course.
I will bring the cones and enough slalom boards for everyone to try out. All you need to bring is your helmet and pads and a slalom board if you have one.
Please send me an e-mail if you want to be added to the regular notification e-mail list or need directions to the site. You can also call me (Gareth Roe) at 206/371-9710.

Wait a minute..Does this thing supercede the Gaithsburg event on May 4/5 ? And if it does, why the short notice? I got work to consider man,the snow isn't gone yet up here! Maybe I ought to have a combined snow/skate Slalom event and see who wins That One..? One more month, and we'll be out of 'mud' season in New England. My skateboard is itchin' to Race!
