Barrett Junction Open
On 1/27/2000 Scott Peer wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

Thanks to everyone for the posts about the race in Barrett Junction this weekend, Jan 29-30. In case anyone is concerned, this is not really an outlaw race. The liability insurance is already paid for, and the permit is set for closing the road. Give Frank "Homemade" Waterhouse a call at the number below if you have any questions.

race
On 1/27/2000 DT wrote in from (209.223.nnn.nnn)

Since this is an outlaw race there is no organization or required med insurance. you do need to have full pads or leathers. and i believe leathers are required for luge. even if planet x comes it would be great to have other photogs and camaras out there. and the race will probally still go on even if it rains.

Does Anyone know the regulations of safety equipment necessary for the event? And if you have to be a member of any organization? Or just prove you have med. insurance and pads and a helmet?

Mt.Tam
On 1/4/2000 Glen wrote in from (216.102.nnn.nnn)

Mt. Tam is also the "birthplace" of mountain biking and has been written up more times than any other spot for the last 12 years in all of the mountain bike mags. It's to mountain biking what Revere and Kenter are to skateboarding. None of which are considered secret spots. The "locals only" mentality is a real problem in surfing and was a big problem in skateboarding in the 70's. Let's not get into that type of crap again.

Hello BUBBA
On 1/3/2000 DT wrote in from (209.223.nnn.nnn)

I just noticed something that you might ought to know. YOU are the first person to say what CITY it is in and the CITY which has all the other "sacred" spots. There is more than one Mt. Tam but now that i know it is in the sacred city of marin, i'll be sure to go skate there and thanx for the tip about the Mountain Home Inn, now i know where i'll stay. thanx for keeping it real.

Hello Cliff
On 1/3/2000 Bubba wrote in from (166.77.nnn.nnn)

I'm sorry to have hurt your ego. I'm sure you are a sick skater that enjoys downhilling as much as I do. But I don't see the need to post OUR riding spot on the internet. Does it not have enough people riding it yet? And the rangers are more hip to your game than you think. And in the past they've gravelled the road to East Peak as I'm sure you know because it has spoiled many a good full moon for me. So Cliff, if you've done so much for the sport I hope it doesn't involve posting sacred riding spots on the internet. Oh, by the way, I hope you skate the whole way to the Mountain Home Inn because anything else is just...... not skating The Mountain. Just do me a favor and don't post any other riding spots in Marin. Peace out.

Hey BUBBA

i fed up with the guys who are always talking for nothing,
couldn't you express yourself by riding gently and stop
your stupids defiances, you don't prove anything this way
exept you're not a real rider but a sweet dreamer.
Just a thing, it's not because you succeed in a stupid challenge
that you are more than another one, prove us you're a rider
by riding in peace.
Best wishes and hope you'll become better for 2000...

All Time
On 12/25/1999 DT wrote in from (209.223.nnn.nnn)

This last week has been unbelievable! The moon is SO bright and there has been no clouds! I've been able to skate everynight. And since its Christmas there hasnt been that much traffic the last two nights. I cant wait to go tonight.
Theres several hills that have no city lights and are so Lit. The hills arent the only ones lit, i cant believe it. One of the hills is almost two miles and 4 lanes wide. it is less than one year old. and so smooth. its also really fast, somewhere in the mid to upper 40s if you just straight bomb it. but since its so wide you can completely control speed if you so desire.

If anyone wants to skate in so. cal let me know. i'll be more than happy to show you da kine spots. (theres even better ones than above)

D.T.
