It turns out you cant even inline skate, and when i brought up my TVS longboard, i got denied. Plus it was so cold and it was raining so hard i could barely move. maybe next year, if enough people inliners, quads and skaters get together they would let us skate it.

Soon as I read this, my ears perked up! Word to Omar! I am gonna enter the EDI soon but I think some amature races would boost my confidence and expirience. I f there is the slightest talk of an amature race in southern California, please e-mail me and tell me. Thanks

EDI Change of venue
Posted by Amy Kentner on Friday, 3 March 19100, at 2:02 p.m.
Sorry for the dealy in getting race details to you guys. I understand that you guys need to know what is going on so you can get time off work, get flights, plan your season etc. Please understand that it takes alot to organize these races and we are doing the best that we can.
The City of Poway desided against having our event in their town. It is a long story, that I will not bore you all with, but the good news is, we have an even better hill! It will be in East San Diego County. I will work this weekend to prepare all the details to mail and post on our web site next week. We are still planning on the same weekend, April 29-30, 2000.
Please bear with me a couple more days and you will have all the info you need, including Gravity Games qualifying criteria.
We would like to work with some of you east coast guys to get races organized for next year. Please understand that it is expensive for us to travel to these places to get the event organized, plus sending a crew of 15-20 people is considerably more money than driving. But, hopefully, next year, it will be more of a reality. If anyone has a good venue, please e-mail me so we can get the ball rolling. We hope you east coast guys will be able to come to our races. You are all welcome and we sincerely hope you can make it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at amy@dregsskateboards.com
Best regards to all, Amy Kentner EDI Event Coordinator

Are there any races for teens and amateurs? Me and my friends like bombing hills but there's no way we could compete with pro's. Are there any teens that compete in 50 mph+ races?

Barret:
i doubt the hill will ever be paved again, it is no longer used by anyone except Border Patrol, lost drivers, and gravity powered vehicles.
GRA:
this is from Scott Peer:
Come to West LA College for gravity racing practice this Sunday, February 13! This will be the first get together of the year for the Gravity Racers Association (GRA) (presented by Westwood Sports Club). We'll set up on Sophomore Drive (the back road), which is wide enough to support inline and skateboard super G, giant slalom, or slalom, and an open lane for buttboarding, speedboarding, and gravity bikes. I'll bring a stack of cones, Frank will bring the jumps, and you can feel free to bring more cones if you'd like. Let's start around 11:00, and ride into the afternoon. There's no charge for this practice. Helmets and pads are required for all riders. Buttboarders and gravity bike riders should wear full leathers or long pants with full pads, and buttboarders must wear a full face helmet. See the web page for directions, more details, and old race results. Feel free to contact us with your questions. Also, let's all start thinking about what events we'd like this season, which locations we'd like to go to, and start putting together a calendar.See you at the hill!

Barrett Junction Race Results

The Barrett Junction Open Competition was held on Jan. 29-30, 2000 in Barrett Juntion (near San Diego), California. The race featured streetluge, buttboard, speedboard, gravity bike, and downhill inline racing. The weather was beautiful and warm and mostly sunny. The course was a challenging 2 km course with 2 hairpin turns, several 90 degree turns, and many smaller turns. The pavement was fairly rough, with some small cracks and defects which added to the challenge. The field was relatively small (35 racers), but included many of the world's top riders.
Frank and Michelle Waterhouse did an exceptional job organizing their first race. The entry fee was only $20, and there was some prize money ($70 per event) and very nice award plaques. There were also nice touches, including sodas and pastries at the course, and a delicious barbeque on Saturday night.
The one blemish on the race was a street luge crash involving Jarrett "Dr. Go Fast" Ewanek and Marvin Malzhan. They were both seriously injured from the collision that happened after Doc crashed and then bounced back into the course in front of Marvin. They were airlifted to a hospital, where they are still recovering. You can find out more about their recoveries in the messages on www.streetluge.com
We all look forward to returning to Barrett Junction for more racing in the future, possibly within months. Thanks to everyone for making the race a success!

Melting !Melting!Well it snowed, again. But the good news is its warming. After 3 or 4 warm winter N.J./N.Y. got put on ice,not really a lot but enough to efup skating, but its gonna get warm ,soon and maybe some sort of end of winter ride is in order, meet in a shopping center and head for the hills, I'd like to get an idea of how many people would be interested in this kind of thing.
