between the GS and the TS, the course will be "clear". one person at the top, one person at bottom with walkie talkies. start from side road above start ramps. each rider goes at 10 second intervals, differences figured at the bottom. $5 per rider, winner takes all. don'r ask the event organizers about it(it's not happening). just be ready with yer $5... I'm looking for rides to either Reading on Saturday or Noah's on Sunday. If I can get a ride to Reading, I might be able to hitch a ride with John Dillon to Noah's on Sunday.

Geezer X,
Now, this is getting scary. Kind of like meeting somebody you think you have nothing in common with who's totalling into the same obscure band as you.
Details on Saturday. In addition to hitting Coronado first thing Saturday, looks like we might be going to a second park in Clairemont as well. A couple of the guys are coming quite a distance, and want to do two parks to justify the drive.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Chris

I cant ride Walker RD tonight but I will be in NJ on Sunday. Still considering the Reading PA session tomorrow. Not sure if I can swing it and the poop paddle to.
Wes T, Charleston in the Fall?? I love it. I can't make any commitments yet but sounds like a really good idea.
Do a flat slalom event at the bus terminal...That would rock.

The day nixon resigned, the day the bomb fell on Nagasaki, the day Jerry Garcia dropped dead: Hugh, Chris, and Geezer X's birthday. Is that weird or what. Back on topic; the Cambrias showed up today, and I'm gonna try to set a course and run on either saturday or sunday morning. email me by 5:15 today or call 301-793-BIKE if anyone is in. Park n' Ride? Parking lots? Whatever. Happy birthday to us. Cambrias and Avalons came in the mail at work, and my Ick should be on the doorstep when I get home....

I would hit Reading Saturday and then Noah's on Sunday, and probably fit in a stop at FDR somewhere along the way. Unfortunately, my car has a bad tie-rod that won't be fixed until Monday.

Running the Bus Terminal in November?

Nothing in November?
From the looks of things, it would appear as though the 2002 racing season will pretty much conclude with the West Virginia race on October 20. Now, I know that for the guys up north this will be a good time to stop. I have to say, though, that late October to mid November is great riding weather down here. The temps stay pretty much in the '50s and '60s and the rain is predictable. Also, although the Weather Service says the Hurricane season lasts til November 30, it pretty is over around here by the end of September.
Looking at the calendar shows that November 16 is a great weekend to ride. It's two weeks before Thanksgiving, a month after West Virginia and the weather trends are favorable. Would anyone be up for an Outlaw race at the Bus Terminal that weekend? I can find out two weeks in advance if there are any sceduled weddings or receptions and the tourist season is pretty much in a lull in November (things do start picking up though after Christmas. Plus the weather is really weird around here in December, January and Feburary.)
If anyone would be hip to an Autumn weekend in Charleston, let me know. Do the tourist thing all day, spend the weekend at a nice hotel, ride like madmen after dark at what John Gilmours has described as "the finest tight slalom location on the East Coast!"
If 10 people respond and say they're interested, I'll do the leg work.

Noah, I'd head up there but my CSA passport only permits two transits a year into enemy territory. One was Boston, the other 'da Farm.
I'd hoped NAFDA would improve things across the borders, but so far it's just been a lot of talk.
Of course, that's not stopping any of y'all from headin' on down to Jaw-ja next month, now does it?

Reading Death Session & the Clean Water Paddle w/ Surfrider Foundation

Damn, wish I could do both however this will be my 5th year protesting pollution of our beaches and watersheds by paddling in the not so healthy Potomac River right down from the famed Watergate Hotel. Anyone that is crazy enough should paddle with us first (8am) and then drive on up to hit the Reading Death Session.
I would do the Reading Session also but I will be attending the wedding of one of the hardest pool skaters in Northern Virginia, Jon Bolduc and his wife to be Sarah.
BTW, Mitch T. has the timing system for the banked slalom. Might also be able to use Brian P.’s system.

Coronado Skatepark Saturday

In honor of my 40th birthday, D'oh!, Friday, we're going to be hitting Coronado Skatepark this Saturday at 9:00 am when they open. So far, we've got a few definites and a couple of maybes. I realize that this is kind of short notice for people not local to San Diego, but I'm just getting back from vacation. Anyway, we'll probably skate for two or three hours or until it gets super crowded. Afterwards, I was thinking of barbeque and brews at my house, about ten minutes away. If you have any questions or anything, post here or e-mail me. If you definitely can make it, please e-mail so we can figure how much beer/food to buy.
Thanks,
Chris
