Mr. Brady Scabs, I find your most recent post rather funny. The constant name dropping about you helping Alan G with his party is a sad attempt, from a hanger on, to justify themselves. Both funny and sad.
The other thing I loved was, to quote you, "So shut up, show up, and race....Or stay home but quit the bitchin!". that was a good one coming from you, Mr. ncdsa armchair quaterback/IP address detective, given that for a good solid 14 months that is all you did on this site was complain, second guess and in general "bitch and moan".
thanks for the laugh scabs.

Is anyone doing any skating, cones or just cruising or whatever, this weekend or next week in New York City and have an extra board? I'm on a little vacation from LA and didn't pack a cruiser. I did, however, bring some balmy SoCal weather, apparently. So if anyone's skatin' and wouldn't mind me shoehorning in, drop a line. I'd much appreciate it. Beers on me! Or Sody Pop, as the case may be. -Andy

I would say the surface is fair. The hill can be fast and the bottom has some rough spots that are challenging. The runout is good and long though.
Perfect for an outlaw race. Current weather maps show rain on sat but clear on sunday with temps in the mid 70`s.
Back up site at a car park if needed.
All that talk about events and fees and swag, what a bunch of whiners. I`m helping Alan G set up for this weekends party and he`s gotta have a couple of G`s into it already. And it`s a NO FEE event. Guess what that means...yep, outa pocket expense.
Youse want swag, youse want an organised race, and youse want it ta be free. Whatta tryin` ta do? Flip this middle of the road Democrat over to da other side of da fense?
Even my free events has expenses. Part of the swag is outa my pocket. The drinks are on me (need plenty in FL sun) and the lunch afterwards. Throw in the killer jam invite @ OLLiewood if you come down saturday and ya got the makings of an epic weekend.
So shut up, show up, and race....
Or stay home but quit the bitchin!

Thank you all for your kind words. We tried hard. I know I had a few problems. Keeping it all flowing is difficult with cone counts and such. We're learning.
I was worried about y'all and the weather. Glad you made it OK. Speeding ticket? Damn!
It was fun to have such a wide geographical representation at the race. Slalom is not the race or the board you ride, it's the people that travel and support.
I hear you about the steps. We'll work on that and a simple starting gate design.

I`ll draw a map tomorrow, take pic w/ digital camera, and upload it and post a link. Any and all can then print it along with directions posted below. It`s really simple to find. Almost all roads in So FL are straight. They either go east and west or north and south.

Coming from the north...
Take I-95 or the Florida Turnpike south to Ft Lauderdale. Get off on I 595 WEST. Continue west about 8 miles to Flamingo Rd. Turn south (left) on Flamingo Rd and continue for about 4 miles to Orange Dr or also known as SW 45 St. Turn west (right) on Orange Drive and continue for about 2 miles to Boyscout Rd. Turn north (right) on Boyscout about one block. The entrance is yo the park is on the left but the gate will be locked. There is a hole on either side of the fence.
I`m thinking we should park at the crossroads of Orange Drive and Boyscout Rd next to the brand new pavilion by the canal and shuttle racers to the entrance. My truck seats 5 and holds plenty of equipment. Be on site around 8:30 am sunday morning.
There will be a timer supplied by r,. mendino and we`ll work out the details from there. The course is open for an unanimous assistance and then set in stone. I will have it swept on saturday so it`ll be ready to rock.
I`ll also supply cold water and maybe some soft drinks. Working on lunch details still...
If you are coming from the south, you can`t cross Flaming Rd at Orange Dr. Take Griffen Rd eest of Flamingo to the first traffic light. Turn right over the canal bridge and then left on Orange Dr and then to Boyscout Rd..

First off I would like to thank NCDSA if it was not for this community I would have never found the world of slalom skateboarding thus the great event in Mississippi. Next, Ricky it was great to meet you and your family, wish I could had made it out last year but you can bet all be there next year. Thank you I had a blast. Your hill was nice, great spot, I hope it last. I want to thank your crew, its great to have people lend a hand, your wife and all the cone girls were great. Josh keep it up bro! Your style is great. Its good to see kids younger than me riding slalom board. I can see you have inspired kids in your town, good work its not easy to get people to try new things keep it up the more the better. Mark M good to see you, do me a favor and make sure your steps go to the top of the launch ramp that you are building. So we don't need a step ladder. I will keep in touch and see you next year for sure. Rick had a great time hanging with you. I was blasted to see you when we pulled up. Your skating was looking real nice, keep it up and have a good time in Flo. Hope to hook up with you soon to do so more skating and good company. And last Sarah, so cool seeing you skate I told my daughter Sasha (7) all about you when I got home she could not believe that there was a young girl that raced, maybe you to are inspiring and don't even know it. Keep it up Mississippi!

The Mississippi contest was a real departure, so to speak--no preparation, just get in the truck with Steven and Jeff "Hit the Road" Goad and go. We left at 5:15 a.m. and got to MS by 12:30 or so. Great weather, almost felt *too* hot after leaving the 40s of St. Louis! Excellent starting ramps, timing system worked without a hitch, and man, them southern boys can skate! "66" is being much too modest about his abilities. The key word there is that I *almost* beat him (once).
Thanks to Mark McCree for graciously lending (and then selling) me a set of Cambrias, and no thanks for beating me in the race for third. :-) And of course, thanks to Ricky Byrd for putting on the race, and to everyone who showed up.

fast? nah bp, i'm slow - but over the past six months i've paid careful attention to the fast guys at the races i attended
the absolute best thing about the races that i've been to is seeing the kids eyes light up when they realize there's more to skateboarding than kickflips, and that you can still be riding a skateboard when you're 30, 40, 50 and beyond!!!
brady, i just sent you an email - see you this weekend!
slalom is a blast
and one more thing - keep an eye on st. louis, jeff g.'s enthusiasm is overflowing, steve's form on the downhill was hut-like, and jonathan on his 25 year old quiksilver just about beat me in mississippi!!!!
thanks again to everyone who contributes to the scene
