Just wanted to thank Rudy Project Eyewear for spondoring the Stand-up event at Front Royal. They provided shades and other gear as prizes. Thanks to the organizers and the other racers, especially team "KebbeK".You guys absolutely rock, and your pretty good riders too! Everyone should mark Memorial Day Weekend on your calender as Bob and Neil are sure to improve and expand on an already awesome event. Also congrats to Doug Dupin on the birth of his due-any-day son Max! Future ripper!

Front Royal Downhill Challenge
On 12/1/2002 DrNo wrote in from (172.140.nnn.nnn)

Kim, Bob and I would like to thank all who made it out to join in the fun (and snow! Oh yeah, and hail! And rain!). The weather threatened us with disaster but never really caused a problem. We had a small drizzle of rain that at one point turned into snow flakes then hail. All were short bursts that did wet the course and make it slippery but alas the sun popped back out and the course dried back up (no, it did not warm up, just dried the course)

The racing was tight and good competition throughout all the classes. All racers gave it their best while racing as safe as possible, only one sprained wrist as a result of the days racing!

It was a pleasure to see all of you again and I look forward to seeing you again at the races next season.

Front Royal-awsome race
On 12/1/2002 Justin/lugedemon3 wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

I was proud to be part of this sucessful event. This was my first race, i learned a lot. One thing i learned: Don't follow a pro going all out on a timed run (streetluge), If he wipes out because he is pushing the envelope, u will too because u are trying to match that speed. I ended up flying over the haybails and landing on my back 15 feet away. I pinched a nerve in my spine and still can't feel my right pointer finger. That was only practice. When it came time to race, right after i completed my first heat i had a full body cramp (very painfull i may add), i found out today it was a reaction from the pinched nerve, i still had to make 3 more runs. I was just trying to hang on. Even though my phyisical strengh let me down, i HAD A BLAST ALL DAY. There is no better group of people to race with. It was a beautiful hill and the event went flawlessly. I asked Darren Lott if i could run with him in a practice run, i learned a lot. I was proud to run with him, he is awsome. He has the fastest peice of wood on the planet. IN THE END I WAS PROUD TO JUST BE THERE.
p.s. thanx Dave G & Vlad for cheering me on

a windy november day forced us to double up cones, though we still managed to set a basic dual lane course with 6.5' - 8' centers

we even managed to draw a few newschoolers out of concrete and onto the asphalt to give slalom a try

looking forward to another session in december!!!!

Front Royal Downhill and Slalom
On 11/30/2002 GBJ wrote in from (68.49.nnn.nnn)

Well... I would like to offer my sincere apologies to Bob Swartz and those slalomers who are, even at this moment, attending the Front Royal race and were expecting me to set the course. Unfortunately, my car began overheating about half the way out there to Front Royal, and I've only just arrived from nursing it back here to Gaithersburg four hours later. All things considered, today seems like it's going to be fairly nice (not too cold) weatherwise, so I hope everyone has a good time.

Yes Free for spectators. But just a few words. We have no accomidations for spectators. This event is a designed as a test for a much bigger deal next year. We invited potential sponsors and marketing people to see what we do in hopes they are sparked with ideas for the big charity event. YOu are welcome to come, but please stay off the road and only cross where there is a course worker with a flag. None of the gravity racers make noise coming down the hill so there is no advanced warning that you are about to get cut off at the ankles. IF you show up after 8am you will have to wait for up to 15 minutes for the road to open so you can park at the top of the hill.

see you there

Yes, all the events are still on. Luge , Slalom, Standup, buttboards and Gravity bike. Even though it will be cold and possible flurrys in the air, we are full steam ahead. Don't forget we have indoor heated pit area and real toilets.

Goto

http://www.gravitysportsinternational.com/frontroyal.htm

for the details.
Unfortunatly Brian P will not be with us because of his real job, but he told me Andy Bittner will be course setting
Slappy Maxwell and WesE will be working to run things as volunteers.
Let me know if you need more info

Unfortunatly we are not hosting a free ride. This event has some real costs involved and I need to recover some of the money for my kids christmas presents. Slalom is $50, other sports are $60 with $30 charge for second sport. All sports except Slalom require GSI membership.
Party starts at the Quality Inn Fri at 9pm
Have a great Thanksgiving
