Thanks PADan. I'll take those wheels off your hands on the 25th if your willing to give them up. Maybe you'll trade them for a carton of smokes. I just quit so I don't need mine anymore. LOL My board should be at my house waiting for me when I get home. I am so stoked. It just started snowing here in LaPlata but I will go out and cruise for a few minutes anyways. Later.

LAW (Longboarders Against War) will be joining the antiwar demonstration in Washington DC this Saturday January 18, 2003. The last protest march yielded wide-open smooth hills to carve our longboards.
Info:
The rally is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the Mall near Third Street and Constitution Avenue NW just beyond the west front of the Capitol (3rd St. NW at the National Mall, which runs between the Capitol and the White House).
After the rally, there will be a march to the gates of the Washington Navy Yard (located on M St. between 1st and 11th Sts. SE).
No civil disobedience is planned UNLESS YOU CONSIDER SKATEBOARDING AN ACT OF CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.

Ben, I think the soft wheels are required in the spec class. Go ahead and get the harder ones, you'll probably want to use them in the open race. I have a set of 78s never used, I'll bring them along on the 25th. Dan

You might need some lace savers next time geez. My laces break all the time too but it's usually from doing flippy tricks. (my regular hobby) I think I found a new kick though. I can't wait till my Bahne board comes later this week. Hey, a guy from their company called me on sunday to tell me that the standard La Costa wheels which come with the complete were unavailable. He said that at 200 pounds, I should go with the harder of the two wheel options he gave me. What do you think. Should I get some softer wheels to put on the back or what? Good times bro!!!!!

And can I just say that every single person you'll meet at the DC races are the nicest and most helpful people you could ever hope to meet. And some of the funniest. If you are looking for the intense serious hush of the gallery at a golf tournament while you're in the box about to start, our races would not be for you. Cabbage said something that made my hot chocolate practically come out my nose. Everyone helps everyone. I think at least 3 people raced longboard on my board, and when I slammed in practice someone found my ground off shoelace for me and made a relatively amusing joke about the position I was in (on all 4s) as I slid about 25 feet. I think the coolest part is seeing new people come out and trying slalom for the first time and digging it. The first time the pump works ...the first time they make the bottom 1/2 clean...If you live anywhere within driving distance, you really owe it to yourself to come out and race with us. Oh, right, I forgot to talk some obligatory smack...My heel will be better by the 25th, and I'm gonna kick at least some of y'alls asses (but not with my right foot...)

My 14.07 time in the open class was on one of those Black hills. That time was only .05 behind the first place guy in the spec class. Do the math yourself and keep in mind that it was my first time out!! Be prepared for me, cuz next time, I will be on my own B.H. board which will be dialed in for the race. Ima cummin and U can't stop me!!!!!!!!

Belvedere Overpass

We had a nice little session again at the newly constructed overpass at Belvedere Rd and I-95 yesterday. We had originally planned to skate Iris St but that was a bust due to some semi-trailers parked on the street. The Belvedere spot is the one the Mark McCree had secured a permit to skate 2 weeks ago. this time it was an outlaw session,
Anyhoos, Mark had the cones but hadn`t stopped for water or breakfast prior to his arrival and he dropped the cones off and left to procure his dire needs saying, "Go ahead and set the course" thinking the previous marked courses were still there...NOT.
It was getting late in the morn by now so I just grabbed the cones and put them down. I started with 6` straights into 7 footers with 6" to 1` offsets, back to straights and so forth. I did add an S-curve that was booger to me. I kept saying to Mark that we should tame it down but he kept saying it was fun, Fun like driving your car into a curve with your eyes closed. As you were hittinng this curve, you had your body leaning over and you had to manuever your board around the course and it was a bitch `cause you felt like you`d lose it at any moment.
Well after a while, we (Chuck, Mark, and I) were finally doing clean runs. Still i wanted to remove it but Mark insisted we run with it. He kept saying it was fun, while I was saying it was hairy. And Mark said yeah, that`s why it`s fun.
Hopefully these weekend sessions will turn into more. We are currently awaiting to here if Mark gets the OK from the city of West Palm to hold a sanctioned event.
We also talked about slalom...truck geometry, wheels, board construction...oh, and who would be this weeks Floorida World Hybrid-tight, Semi-GS Champion....but none of us had a coin to toss LOL.

DC OUTLAW RACE RESULTS!!!

We finally had an opportunity to hold another Outlaw race in DC. The weather threatened again with below freezing temps but all of us got a quick cure to our cabin fever. This race was lacking some of the regular racers due to the conflict with the ECES snowboard event in Vermont but we still had a great turnout with several new guys showing up to give slalom racing a try.
It is no surprise that Mike Ohm took the win in open slalom. This guy just keeps on getting faster.
Dan Mitchell took the win I the longboard division just ahead of Cabbage. Cabbage’s fastest time and mine were the same, so we had a runoff for 2nd place. Cabbage laid down the fastest time of the day in the runoff with a 13.61 on a 47-inch Hypercarve. It was sick. I gladly gave up 2nd place.
By the time we got to running the spec race the temperature had dropped and most of the guys decided to pack it in. A few of us diehards stayed and raced it. I have to say the Bahne Black Hill is a great slalom setup. Several of the new guys raced them in the open slalom and I felt very confident on it during the spec race. Everyone had a blast racing them.
We had about six new guys out running cones today. New guy Ben shows up and made the course on his first run and just ripped all day long. Also newbie Jason by the end of the day was making the course with great style and speed.
It was great to be back outside racing.
Our next attempt at another Winter Series race is Saturday January 25th at the Gaithersburg park and ride.
Results:
Open Slalom 1. Mike Ohm 11.95 2. Brian Parsons 12.79 3. Dan Mitchell 12.90 4. WesE 13.33 5. Geezer X 13.52 6. Cabbage 13.59 7. Ben 14.07 8. Slappy Maxwell 14.54 9. Mitch Temoche 14.57 10. Ron Saah 17.41 11. Matt V. 18.05 12. Dan D, Jason
Longboard 1. Dan Mitchell 13.80 2. Cabbage 14.18 3. Brian Parsons 14.18 4. Ben 14.19 5. Mitch Temoche 14.25, Geezer X 14.25 7. WesE 14.48 8. Ron Saah 15.41 9. Slappy Maxwell 15.51 10. Timbobwi 16.07 11. Dan D 16.11 12. Matt V. 17.45 13. Wayne 17.48

How many races are there in the series and when does it end? If all goes well this weekend, when would the next race happen? I'm going out of town for the weekend, so hopefully I'll catch the next one. Looking forward to my first time!! But I'm wondering, do I need protection? I was told there would be STD's floating around. (slaloming 'til dark) Have fun !

Howdy Outlaws, I'll be there on Sat. The Weather is looking nice. This will be my first race on a slalom course.(besides that $5 elbow skinner bet last year Zoller) I am in desparate need of some trucks this weekend. If anyone can help me out I would offer to trade a new board for a pair of good wide trucks. E-mail me for some pics of my boards and I'll meet you at the race with it. I also have some boards on E-bay (search for *Littletree*)Later all I'll see you there. Jason

Thanks Slappy...The weather is warming up and the snow is melting...Looks like Saturday is going to be a go. I am going by the hill tomorrow to make sure there are not any unexpected obstacles.
Remember that there will be a Bahne Black Hill Spec class race, longboards and traditional slalom.
The start will be a push start about 15 ft to the first cone. Single Lane. Hybrid beginner friendly course.
For those that have never been to Fountainhead, park at the gate and walk about 100 yards into the park you cannot miss us.
I will be at Vans tomorrow night 9-11.

Hey Cabbage and others, Here's the address to use for Mapquest, etc.
Fountainhead Regional Park 10875 Hampton Road Fairfax Station, VA
It's not too far off of RT.123 Anyone coming from points North it's probably easiest to go I-95 to the Occoquan/Rt. 123 exit. (Just a few exits before Vans).

I'm glad to hear y'all are gearing up for it. Things may change as far as date. A new wrinkle has come up and we are talking to the neighborhood committee today. The Tour Le Fluer bike race is on our street on April 12th. Red Bull has asked if we can race at night. I'm not really feeling good about that no matter what lighting we have.
