Ma Skate is getting bigger
On 5/31/2003 BoBo wrote in from (172.164.nnn.nnn)

Glad to see the enthusiasm mounting. I'll coordinate with Wentzle to get a time and place and post it in plenty of time for all who are close [and those that aren't].

I'll need cones though. Say 70....... or more. Mixed is fine.

I gave my 35 to Brian Parsons and currently have none.

Other than that we'll have a blast.

Keep em coming.

Bobo I'm all for getting together to skate in Mass. Let me know when and where. I just got a turner board and the slalom thing is new to me ... but I'm digging these seismic trucks and ripping fast turns big time.

I've been chatting with Wentzle Ruml and he wants to session here in Ma. He says he has a few places to run cones so I'll be getting a get-together with him for possibly next week. If you're interested drop me a line.

Skate in Ma with an OG Z-Boy [and little ole me]

Well, I cant believe it .. one week to the longboard race in Central Park ... I am so psyched my good friend Brian Petrie from Earthwing Boards is building me a board for the race ... I think this year we are going to have the biggest turn out so far.
Remember we are giving away a full gravity board with Randal trucks for first prize. And Randal Trucks 150's for 2nd and 3rd .
Did I mention that there will be a video available for the Broadway Bomb race on DVD .. please email me back if you want a DVD so I know how many to burn .. they will be $5 a piece to cover cost .

Athens Georgia Slalom Sunday
On 5/28/2003 N. Former wrote in from (63.171.nnn.nnn)

Athens Sunday Slalom Skateboard Sessions…
In preparation for the upcoming Georgia State Slalom Skateboard Championships, there will be practice sessions on the first and third Sunday of each month leading up to the August 30th race.
These practice sessions will help to hone the skills of experienced riders, and will serve as a clinic to help those who are just starting out.
We will meet at Holland Youth Sports Complex in Athens, GA. This park is located at the intersection of Newton Bridge road and Vincent Drive(#10 on the map). Here is a link to the map: http://www.athensclarkecounty.com/documents/pdf/leisureservices/facilities_map.pdf
Go to the back of the park, past the baseball fields. There is a back entrance to the park that remains locked, therefore there is no vehicular traffic on the road there. This is where we will be riding.
We will start at 5pm. Dates; June 1&15, July 6&20, August 3&17…
Hope to see you there!

NorCal 100 Cone Wiggle
On 5/26/2003 Gary H. wrote in from (17.219.nnn.nnn)

Shoreline 100 Cone Wiggle Fest

We had a small gathering here in NorCal today to try the 100 Cone Challenge.

Here are the rules we established:
100 cones, 6' on center...unlimited push....tape switch set just before the 1st cone and just after the last. Trak Mate timer. 10 Cones = DQ,
.2 penalty per cone.
The course has a slight downhill then uphill, then downhill then uphill, then downhill, and the whole run sloped slightly to the right. Also, somewhere near the 70 cone mark we had a slight seam that was right on the fall line..this made for a weird pull to the right.

Results:
1st Place Gary Holl, Sponsors: RoeRacing, 3dm, ProDesigned, Etnies, Seismic
24.104+4 cones or 24.901

2nd Place Mike Maysey, Sponsors: Turner, 3dm, ProDesigned, Etnies, A42, Tracker
25.297+5 cones or 26.297

3rd Place John "JR" Ravitch,Sponsors: Comet Bomb Squad
27.669 +7 cones or 29.069

4th Place John "sweet spot" Kim, Riding a Turner
27.687 + 9 cones or 29.487

5th Place Julius "Orange Julius" Pleshakov riding a Turner
30.554 + 7 cones or 31.954

6th Place Vance "I'm digging my new Turner" Prather, Riding a Turner
31.405 +8 cones or 33.005

7th Place Bill Evans, Riding a Turner
50.979 Clean...nice very nice.

8th Place "HC", riding a custom cut down "HC Whacky Board".
Although he never finished the course he had several
ripping runs...one run he was clean to about the 70 cone
mark and then he just slammed on his knees and elbow.

Hutson, Judi, Miko.....we missed you guys....where was the rest of the Bomb Squad?

Special Thanks to Julius and John K. for setting a perfect course and for helping cram cones on the sprinklers that began dumping water on the course during the early mornig set up.
