Settle down Paul!!!! We're all stoked for you and sure its a great park. But I'm afraid God probably does not spend too much time in parks that are 24,000 square feet. Not with all the 35,000+ footers opening all around the country right now. Anyway, have a ton of fun and skate safe

Newberg Skatepark Opening, Oregon

The Newberg Skatepark is opening the first weekend in July (this weekend). It is the best skatepark on Earth. This is not an exaggeration. When the skating world witnesses Newberg, it will explode. It has a 9' vert capsule and 12' quarters, to say the least. It's unbelievable. God help you if you don't see this park. The website www.skateoregon.com has pictures. Dreamland Skateparks designed and built the $600,000, 24,000 sq ft monster. It has no dead ends. It has a double rail like a roller coaster. Dreamland Skateparks built Lincoln City and is run by Mark "Red" Scott, who was Burnside's main force. This park is insane, completely amazing. God skates it at night. Check it out.

Ya...Zurich looked like a lot of fun!!
There is a big difference between downhill for ultimate speed and racing man-on-man. I prefer the Boarder-X style myself.
If I sponsor myself, would anybody like to pay for me to go to Europe??
PLEASE???
That's ok..the homegrown scene is just getting started.

The contest will be held this Saturday morning at the Arcata Skatepark. It is named after a young skater that lost his life while doing what he loved-skating-by a car.It is one of the reasons the park was built. No admission price for the park but pads and helmets are required.Check it out if you're in the N.Coast area...

Does anyone know if downhill skateboarding will be in the x-games this year? I know street luge will, it always is. Eventhough it takes bigger nuts to go 50 down a hill on a skatebaord that on a luge. (and I don't want to hear any crap, because I do both). Thanks.

Hey I was thinking of doing the dump road this Sunday. Yeah, I know it's Father's Day, but hey I'm a Father, what better way to celebrate than ditch the wife and kids and go skating. If you're on the sc_longsk8 mailing list, I'm going to try to get a message out, but I've been real busy and it hasn't happened yet. If you have any questions, let me know.

I wish so hard I could have been there! The hill looks soooo sweet! I'd really enjoyed meeting all the people I've been exchanging emails or posts on ncdsa. Too bad I live in Europe.
Is anybody coming to the Downhill Grandprix on 17./18.June? When yes, tell me. I haven't found anybody to come with me yet.
Greetings,

As these guys said, the day was great. I personally had 5 runs at 45 mph (the fastest I've been in 20 years) Sean and DT made 50+ look easy, looks like they could have done it on one foot! Don't believe Chris when he tells you he's slow. That old dude, I mean young man, jams!
I did learn a few things this past sunday... Leathers make you go faster... competition makes you go faster... I need faster accelerating wheels (my brother just picked up some cherry bombs he's going to let me use)
I hope to have some more pix from this ride up on my site soon (Glen... hint... hint... hint!!) Have fun... HR

Thank you to everyone who came out, all in all we had 15 and one late Gary Hardwick who showed up right after everyone headed to Pauls house to bbq. I was stoked to see Hugh and Chris charging it. The conditions were all time, for the first time that i rode it, we had a full on tail wind. Usually i can barely hit 43, but that day Sean and i were killing the 50mph mark. Everyone had fun, there was all types of boards: old vintage boards, full on speedboards, CARVE boards, Freebords, buttboards, and sliders. You can check out some of the pics on Hugh web page by clicking here.

Had a great time with everybody at dump road. The hill was faster than I thought it would be with 6-7 guys doing 45 mph or so. I clocked in at 38-40mph max which was the fastest I've gone. Pretty smooth surface compared to what I expected after reading descriptions here. Mallard & Dt were the fastest but everyone had a good carving/bombing time. Even spotted a Freeboard and Carve board. Let's keep this spot happening once a month or so. Too bad I had to bail so early.

Hamm,
Don't sweat it. Here's the deal on the hill.
The hill is about a half mile long with a quarter mile runout up a slight rise, so there's plenty of room to stop at the bottom. It's fairly steep in spots but is full carvable the whole way down. If you can carve, you shouldn't have any problem keeping your speed down, whether you know how to slide or not. On sliding, there will be a number of people there who know how, so it would be a good time to learn. It's probably a good idea to bring helmets and pads, but other than that it should be no problem.
As for time, let's just go for 9:30 or so. I'm not sure what the deal is on the BBQ. I don't have Paul's number with me. I'd say we should just go to the store on the way to Paul's house. That way we don't have to worry about planning.
Beyond that, I'll bring my 8-wheel contrapion thingy that we can't mention here, so people can try them if they want. Plus with the number of people we have coming there are bound to be lots of board/wheel/truck combos to try out. I'm getting psyched.
