X-Games
On 7/7/2000 DT wrote in from (63.36.nnn.nnn)

There is no speedboarding in this years x-games. However, there will be a demo put on by Gary Hardwick and Darryl Freeman. They will bw going for the world's longest traveled skateboard air, and will most likely put on a slide show.

X-Games

Anyone going to the X-Games this year? Anyone know anything about them (when they are, where they are)?

I know there is street luging, and I think there is downhill skating (there is, isn't there) and I would like to see that action.

Anybody interested in meeting at Vans Ontario on Sun AM.
I think a few of us from San Diego may roll up there for the early just to do something different. It would be cool to get a bunch of us skating a train thru the snake run Old School Style.

Hey Hugh,
I saw the pics, and they were cool. You did get a couple of me in there! On your first page of pics, I was on the top right one in last place, and in the second page I was on the bottom left one in second place. I had blue, black, and white leathers, and a blue helmet with a bunch of stickers on it. Now I have my own little claime to fame! Thanks.

Hawk @ KONA
On 6/29/2000 Hamm wrote in from (63.27.nnn.nnn)

Hawk at Kona is just part of Tony's tour this summer.
He and his bro's are cruising the country like rock stars in one of those super custom tour buses. You can't miss it when you see it. It says "Tony Hawk's Great Summer Skateboard Park Tour" on the side in huge letters. The wife and I saw it in front of the Boll Weeval(a San Diego hambuger joint about 2 weeks ago.

I'm not able to ID most of the riders by sight, so I don't know who had what. But I can tell you that far and away the wheels of choice seemed to be cherry bombs. The choice of trucks seemed to gravitate towards the Randal Comp-II and luge trucks and the Independent 215's... HR

1. Any results posted from Mammoth?

2. What's up with the big boys (Dregs, etc.) getting smoked by the Euros? Different type of course? Jet lag? Already qualified for xgames/gravgames so they held back? The Euros are better riders?

3. Anybody know the decks/trucks/wheels the Euros were riding?

6-25-00 race
On 6/29/2000 DOOBIE wrote in from (63.252.nnn.nnn)

I was talking about the S9 video "big stick" and trying to say i didn't mean the intro with a girl in a 7-11 grabbing a "big stick" popsicle. They had parts of what I think was an EDI race(although I've never been to one). Manu and Rob Molt and the Darryl Freedman were some featured in the film. Just was curious if it was at a Mammoth race.

Cool pics Hugh... looks kind of like the beginning of big stick (no, not the girl in the 7-11). Is this the same place? I don't think so, but I am not sure, we used to camp in Mammoth before we moved to FL then to KS, it's a great place.

Hamm,
Glad the pictures came out (thanks to the good eyes of my son Steve)... my brothers buddy (who happens to be a pretty good photog) took around 100 shots that hopefully will arrive on CD in a week or so. Might get 40 or more good ones to post out of that. (So rooney, put some pressure on ol' paul)

This was the first event I have been able to attend. I am hoping to actually compete in the upcoming one in september. I have the equipment, but not sure I have the nerve.

Probably the most interesting part of the racing was to watch the pro stand up guys jockying NOT to be at the front of the pack. Those guys were very technical skaters (who just happen to haul butt too!!) I would recommend attending a race, and bringing the kids too.

The people were actually quite nice and approachable, especially considering this was a competition. All in all it was a very good time. Well run and pretty organized. Which is no small task considering they were dealing with a bunch-o-skaters... HR
