When can we commence to seein the lowdown 'n' partikulurs purtainin' to Davey G's 2003 shindig? Will the bridge be closed all day on Saturday? Iffin it is closed, how will any Yankee outsiders get downtown iffin they hole up North of the bridge the night afore the race?

DC Downhill Classic, Sat. Sept. 6
On 9/5/2003 Doug wrote in from (208.59.nnn.nnn)

I just returned from the DC Govt. offices who denied us the street for the event tomorrow. However, for whatever reason, ultimate say is with the cops and they say "it's on". So, slalom starts at 9:00 and Speedboard at 12:00.
Hail to the DC Police Force.

DC instead
On 9/4/2003 Duane wrote in from (64.223.nnn.nnn)

Those missing Chicago should come to DC instead. Looks like the event will come off.

Henry - I've made it to DC in 3 hours 40 minutes from Carnegie Mellon, and don't give me that homework excuse- freshman year is cake and you know it ! And MUCH better looking women around than at CMU

CHICAGO EVENT POSTPONED
On 9/4/2003 Jonathan Harms wrote in from (165.134.nnn.nnn)

I just got an e-mail from Cfavero, the organizer of the Chicago all-around contest, saying that he has to postpone it until Sept. 20. He also posted a similar announcement on the "Slalom" forum, FWIW.

Chicago all-around contest
On 9/4/2003 Jonathan Harms wrote in from (165.134.nnn.nnn)

Anyone in Chicago have extra room for a couple of out-of-towners on Friday and/or Saturday nights? Paul Graf and I will be showing up somewhere around 11:00 on Friday night and would appreciate a cheap/free place to stay. We'll get a motel if we have to, but would like to keep things as inexpensive as possible. E-mail me or call (314) 645-4272 and leave a message. Thanks.

P.S. If you can hook us up, I'll even try to refrain from making any snide remarks about that NL baseball team of yours. :-)

DC Downhill Classic, Sept. 6
On 8/30/2003 Doug wrote in from (208.59.nnn.nnn)

It looks like the DC Downhill Classic on Saturday Sept. 6 will include both Super-G Slalom and Downhill Racing. As part of Adams Morgan Day, the community is giving us 15th Street next to Malcolm X Park for skateboard races. I imagine the top speed for the Super-G will be about 25mph and 35-40mph for the downhill. Email if you are interested. Anybody wanting to use my Migration Speedboards for racing is welcome to use them.

Chuck,
From Delray Beeotch to Athens takes;
9.5-10hrs if you get in with fast traffic, bring sammiches, and limit pee/gas stops.
a "normal" drive with relaxed stops and all from delray to athens is 11-12hrs.
Jupiter is 30 minutes north of Delray...you know how to do the math...
the Varsity will be a couple miles from your HO tell.
hey rick, do they have water in the hotel pool?
that's a tight little teardrop jewel...

Athens, GA
On 8/22/2003 Chuck wrote in from (65.139.nnn.nnn)

Okay, back in my Georgia Tech days we all knew how to get to Athens...go east until you smell it then north until you step in it. But getting there from South Florida...I have no idea. What's the quickest way, go through Atlanta then take 78 to Athens, or get off the interstate in Macon and take 129 (I think) north?

I will be leaving Friday morning and want to get there in time for the evening festivities.

NYC StyleSessions Sept. 13th
On 8/19/2003 Robin wrote in from (209.73.nnn.nnn)

New York StyleSession by Freshpaved:

StyleSessions are groups of longboarders and photographers who meet at designated hills to ride and take photographs. StyleSessions promote amateur photography and capture the aesthetics of long skateboarding.

This summer, a series of StyleSessions is underway. At the end of the summer, a long skateboard competition will be held focusing on the individual style of each rider. Unlike many other longboard competitions, the StyleSessions competition is not a speed race. Similar to traditional surfing competitions, the StyleSessions competition is judged on factors like best maneuvers and rider form.

The StyleSessions competition will take place on Saturday, September 13th, at 8:00am. To promote amateur photography, a concurrent competition will be held for the best photo from the StyleSessions competition.

For more information please visit www.freshpaved.com or contact Jeff Gaites at jgaites@yahoo.com

Hope to see you in September!!!
