This is to let you know that the contest will be posted for registration withim the next couple of days.
We will run a hybrid race with a straight line finnish. Not really fast nor really long. We plan on running it from 9am till 2 pm. In case it gets just as hot as it has been the last couple of years. If anyone wants to we can go to another location later and run some single lane stuff. At this point I still don't know the extent of my ankle injury so I may not be participating but the racing will go on.
The event will be Sponsored by the Ottawa Sk8park - Sk8city and the Dovercourt Community Centre. We have also been invited to sleep at the community centre overnight in lieu of the Sk8park. They have showers and even a swimming pool we may have access too.
We will list some hotels nearby as well for any of you that would prefer that.
We need a timming system. Anyone wishing to send prizes please contact us at 613-798-7275.
Alan I don't think Chicago is possible BUT it may be a lsat minute descision.

The construction at West LA College is just days away, and no news of any delay. So it looks like we're out of racing there for at least a couple of months. I'll post as I hear more. I'm also going to Mammoth this weekend, and will be sure to do some runs at the race hill there that we hope to schedule for August. I think it's a good spot for a giant slalom cross (dual GS plus some head to head in the same course). Be sure to respond if you think that is or isn't a good idea.

2004 Georgia State Championship Slalom Skateboard Races
Friday, September 10th 5:00pm - 9:00pm (dark) - Outlaw Giant Slalom - short but fast, single lane jam format - excellent surface, long runout, might get dark quick, I'll try to get there around 4pm.
Saturday, September 11th 7:00pm - 11:pm - Downtown Athens Saturday evening. Washington Street, in front of the 40 Watt Club, infamous in more ways than one. Due to inconsistencies in the road surface, this will likely be a tight'ish hybrid course.
Sunday, September 12th 9:00am - I'm hosting a session on my home hill, tight slalom on the freshly paved alley behind my house (fast right hand curve) & free carving, bombing, soul cruising down the buttery 1/2 mile stretch of Woodhaven Parkway I get to enjoy every single day of my life.
Newest Tway timer (false start detector), steep start ramps on Saturday night.
Yes, racers from out of state will be put up in a nearby hotel, either the Foundry Park Inn ('03 race accomodations) or Courtyard by Marriot, just west of the venue (walking/skating distance).
Yes, we will be providing transportation to and from the Atlanta airport.
$500 guaranteed winner take all at each race (Friday and Saturday) - not to mention the coveted Red Clay Cup to the overall winner.
Mean Bean is feeding us again, Red Clay Real Estate & Development is on board, other sponsors as added.
$50 to enter covers all events AND covers your entry fee into the Mountain State Slalom Skate, Fayetteville, WV, on October 17, 2004.

EastCoast Board Co Skate Shop is hosting three ALL GIRL LONGBOARD SESSIONS this summer in Fairfax, VA (just outside of Washington DC). We did one of these last year and it was a huge success. This years dates will be JUNE 19th, JULY 17th, and AUGUST 14th. All sessions are limited to 25 girls for each date and the times are on the above Saturdays from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.
The DC Outlaw Crew will be lending a hand to Brett Roper, Special Afro Force Member (Afroman Skateboard Team Rider) who is now working for EastCoast Board Co. Brett is the contact point on the All Girl Longboard Sessions this summer.
At last year's All Girl Longboard Session, we took a group of 25 female riders and talked about how to longboard, reviewed how to start on a longboard, how to stop including foot dragging, and then moved on to the basic carve turns. We then split the group into two sub-groups, the total beginners and those that had the basic skateboard skills. By the end of the session, all the girls were carving it up with STYLE!!!! We then held a "for fun" head to head longboard slalom race. This summer should be the same format.
So get your wife, girlfriend, sister, mom or the girl next door and have them sign up now for one of the ECBS All Girl Slalom Session. ECBS will be providing loaner longboards and safety pads if you need/want them.
If you would like to know more info visit http://www.ecboardco.com/girllongboard.htm or email: brett.r@ecboardco.com
DR
BTW, we are also looking for both men or women to help teach, so post on up here or contact Brett Roper and tell them David "LBK" Riordon sent you.

2004 Gorge Games

(24.18.nnn.nnn)
Slalom Skateboard Racing returns to glorious Hood River, Oregon as part of the 2004 Gorge Games and the second stop of the American Cup Slalom Series.
The Town of Hood River is all a buzz with activity this weekend and slalom skateboard racing will take center stage. There are plenty of other exciting activities going on in town this weekend as well that are all part of the 2004 Gorge Games.
Saturday's race will take place on Columbia Street in front of the Full Sail Brewery with a throng of spectators, televison cameras rolling and a stiff tail wind. This hill was the scene of the 2002 Haulin' in the Hood - FCR slalom Skateboard Race.
Sunday’s event will take place on the on the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway east of downtown. Expect this course to be fast and technical. The fastest times of the day will be from those racers who posses a delicate balance of; guts, brute force, endurance and the agility of a ballet dancer. This is a 1,400' long course, on excellent pavement with a decent pitch and two sweeping turns. The veiw from here aint bad either!
Gorge Game Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all the following categories; Open Men, Open Women, Junior Boys (14 and under), and Junior Girls (14 and under). That'll sure look nice in the ol' trophy case! In addition, points will be awarded towards the American Cup Slalom Series. Who will be the points leader after this event?
Make your Hotel, Motel or campground reservations soon.
Please register online here: http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registration.asp?ContestID=140
See you in Hood River!

gentlemen, check the speedboarding forum. The maine race is York, Maine on saturday see sean's posts, for DC Downhill search that topic on speedboarding, it is usually late summer or September in DC (duh), with possible last-minute announcement. It has been the same day as Adams' Morgan day in the past which last year was Sept 6. Ask Anthony in the speedboarding forum to put you on the mailing list. DC should be OK for beginners if 40 mph is for you, but I wouldn't recommend Maine for the first go, the course looks gnarly.

Yes, Geoff, the DC Outlaw races still include longboard (30" axle to axle minimum) races. There was some discussion last week about making it a "run what ya brung" race with no WB requirement. There are also some who feel the Longboard class should be "Real" longboards with a 36" or so wheelbase minimum. The DC races are so fun, you would do well to check them out no matter what you ride. Intense racing for those who want it, yet a very mellow and fun vibe. Come on out!
