Perhaps inspired by Dan's pumping, I had one of the most memorable sessions just before the last Cyber Slalom Cup in Paso Robles, CA a few years ago. The venue was an indoor roller/inline skating rink and the linoleum floor was mirror smooth and clean as a whistle.
Before everyone arrived, and before it got dusted up, I was pumping my Seismic truck-equipped slalom deck around and around that rink.. what a blast! The speed I was building up was insane given the minimal effort I was expending. It was easy to get to the limits of traction on that fast flooring. I often regret not living closer as that was a most enjoyable workout.

Daniel rules!! The first time I saw Daniel skate was in the mid 1980's at an indoor event sponored by Surf Ohio in Dayton Ohio. Daniel's style is one of a kind.

Cool mag cover! I've never seen that publication before. Nice photo of the vintage nose wheelie too. Check out this not-so-vintage video that includes Dan Gesmer's version of the nose wheelie.. Click here for link

OK OK Here it is ...
I got to the point of fully squatting so my rear was touching my heals but this pic gives you the idea of what the samoan squat was all about back then.

1. There was an earlier discussion regarding Stewart Singer. Anyone have any idea when his "Who's Hot!" appeared in Skateboarder?
2. Regarding Arthur's request on 3/26/2007: "Hi I'm trying to locate any info out there on a skateboarder named Allan F. Houck who owned 'Daytona Street Skates' in Daytona Beach, Fl in the late 70s and opened the 'Moon Forest Skateboard Park' in Ormond Beach in 1980. His partner Ed Baxter was also a skateboarder and won three titles during that time period. Thanks!"
Arthur, I don't know if that person is around at all. His name has never come up during my interviews with people. I know Charley Gonzalez in Daytona Beach. He who rode for NHS (Santa Cruz and Road Rider), and later had a one or two pro models with Daytona Street Skates around 1980. I'm quite sure he lost contact with these people 20 years ago as well. Good luck.

Any one know his whereabouts? Use to skate/hang out with Bob at Gremic, Summit Ramp, Rinconda hills-testing his fish shaped helmet for the Capitol race in 1979. Just wondering how to get intouch with him. On a side note I'm looking forward to meeting Kat at the Luna race next week. Finally some one from my old home state NOR. CAL. Now back to the history lessons.
