Wow Lemonboy, that totally stokes me that this picture got you racing. Shouldn't that earn me a .5 bonus discount in my next time against you head to head? I think so.
BTW, I still have the board I am riding in that picture, stuck up in the rafters of the garage. In fact I rode that deck at the Farm in the vintage in 05.

Haven't seen that in awhile, very cool. Fyi, that's Jim Goodrich standing to my right and Steve Cathy laying on the ground next to Sherman.

Cool pic of Skitcher. I was there for the Hang Ten event at Carlsbad. So many cool memories like screaming at the top of my lungs as my mentor, Big Bad H came back to beat Alva in the Slalom final. I rode for Brewer then so I hung out with Mentor # 2 BP a lot too. Very cool to be able to call guys like H and Piercy "Mentors" but it was true. Both guys took me under thier respective wings and turned a 15 year old kid from University City into a pretty decent racer. It didn't hurt that every Sunday at La Costa was like a final 16 at the Worlds. Anybody and everybody that was fast showed up.
When you convert that pic please send it to me, My bros would get a kick out of seeing it again.

Hey Marty, I made a .pdf of the Skateboarder magazine article on the 1977 Catalina Classic. It has you on the first page of the piece, racing Steve Sherman. Piercy features prominently, of course. I need to reduce the file size and then I'm gonna make it available on the web.

The other night my mother and I ran into Bob Ballou at The Crab Cooker Restaurant, in Tustin, Ca.
Bob owned Powerflex Skateboards - back in the mid 1970'S. He helped out a lot of young skaters, and helped them go on to bigger things in life.

My prayers go out for Skitch Hitchcock....a tremendous talent in Skateboarding.

My good friend in Kona knew of Skitch living in a neighbors backyard. He was recently told to leave the island according to a few sources.
He and Ed Nadelin were expert free foot skaters that did interesting moves while gripping the board with their toes.
Man, didn't seem like it was too long ago when we all congregated in Del Mar paving the way to today's industry.
I'm still happy to be hanging in there in good health and still skating :) and will continue to skate for my era proving that some of us old timers like Coleman still find those trucks, boards and wheels a fascinating fun device.
I'm holding up my glass of merlot/cab and toasting the days when Skitch was blowing audiences away with his supreme gymnastic/athletic moves. He'll forever live in my mind as a skateboard hall-of-famer!

Skitch Hitchcock is in Mission Hospital in Laguna Hills suffering from liver failure. He is not expected to last long. If you know anything about skate history you know who he is.

Jack, the one of you being chased by the Mustang is my all time fave, we have used it here at Skate School for ads and and it's on our website. I guess I owe you royalties by now.
I'm looking for a copy of Punkture Madness for Skate School, any leads? I'm obsessed with the Turning Point ramp which I enjoyed at Marina back in '79. Cradles are fun, don't get me wrong, but the 16 degree slope of Turning Point is what made it pumpable and special. I still consider it the first real loop and it was mastered by many. Any pictures out there? Ambitious builders?

Hey Adam- could you please copy this thread/forum into an archive because I doubt people will go to the trouble to scan photos in again and it would be a shame to see some of these vanish to dead links in a months from now.
