Check out the longboard (skateboard) photo essay in the new Longboard (surf) magazine. It isn't exactly ground breaking, but it is still kinda cool.

Aloha,
I live in Sterling VA, and my whole neighborhood is built on hills so theres tons of room for me to ride my 4' Gravity board, but no one else to ride with...theres lots of skaters in my hood but Im the only surfer and longboarder. So if anyone lives in the Northern VA area drop me a line.
Happy Surfing or Boardin

I guess i dont have anything right important to say i just wanted to say hey.Oh yeah im not a longboarder either. But longboards are cool. And it is possible to surf a shortboard. Sure i do crooked grinds and stuff but i ride loose ass indies and carve everything. So i just wanna say that some of us "shortboarders" can have some soul too:0)

I am totally stoked on longboard skating and want to hook up with some NorCal skaters for a ride possibly in the Fremont area. So anyone who wants someone to skate with or are interested in putting on an event e-mail me.

I guess I should have thought of this earlier, but I'm in IRC undernet #sidewalksurf right now, Tuesday 7:04 pm Pacific. Anyone who gets this in the next hour or so and wants to chat, be there I'll keep checking back with my IRC program in between net surfing.

Jim,
Your daily rider and you downhill board should not be the same board! Most of the downhill courses I've seen don't have very sharp turns, so Randall Speed Trucks are probably your best choice. Go for the competition model with the free spinning axle. Randals turn better than most other traditional trucks, but nowhere near as well as the new torsion trucks. The torsion trucks will put you on your ass if you try going 50mph; one twitch of your pinky toe at that speed an you'll be puttin that new leather suit to the test!
Good luck!

Someone please get their hands on some Randals, Exkates, Jones, and Seismic to decide which rules downhill, carving, and cruising. I want to buy new trucks but don't know what kind to buy for a speedwobless turnable truck.

What is better for high speed, speed wobbleless performance. I want to start to practice speed boarding to compete in x games. I also don't want to not be able to turn at all considering its going to be a daily rider also. I ride a flexdex k-grip right now and love it but I hate to have to tighten the hell out of my trucks before i ride. Would the new green 88a exkates be good? or maybe the striongest springed seismics? E-mail me please

Hey,
Just wanted to say that I'm going to try to do the IRC thing tonight (Tuesday 7:00 pm, US Pacific time, undernet #sidewalksurf). The last few times I've tried this, there hasn't been anyone there. Figured I'd post a note here to see if anyone else can show up.
I'll try to get there about 7:00 and wait around for about ten or fifteen minutes, then check back at about 7:30 if no one shows.

GOOD NEWS!!!
1. My cast came off last week. I still have a broken elbow and a sprained wrist, but at least I can bend my arm now. I just can't wait till the Upstate NY weather clears up so I can get out and try my new Black 29 again. (Note to self: tighten trucks to avoid wheel bite this time)
2. The October issue of "Mens Journal" is in stores now. It does have the article about longboarding we've mentioned before. It's a one page deal that is not mentioned in the contents section. Take the time to find it in the store and read it there. It's not worth buying the whole mag just for the one page. It IS a good article though. It shows our sport in a very good light and even has three little board reviews in the corner. They feature a Sector 9 pintail, a Gravity and another board (sorry...forgot the name, cool shape though)
3. Be on the lookout for ANOTHER article in "Longboard" magazine in the near future. (surf mag) I am told that along with the article a Black 29 "ROYALE" will be featured. It's my board! #1276......How cool. Be sure to check it out to see the beast that broke my elbow. (actually...it's my own damn fault for not tightening my trucks enough) Once I can ride it for a few days I will post a full review in the Completes section of NCDSA. I have to go buy some elbow pads first.

I make and sell my own longboard skateboards in Australia. All of my boards are concaved and some have kicks. They come in traditional longboard shapes at 55 and 60 inches, and in a showboard shape at 45 inches. Custom orders are also encouraged - for the right price we can make ANYTHING!!!. Email me for any info, USA stockists, dealers and distributors welcome.
