I used fingernail polish (clear, of course) once and it worked pretty well.

I recently tried using "white out" as "locktight" on the threads of mine. So far, so good! (Thanks to Steve Cozens of Deplo for the tip!)

I'm not sure about those trucks, maybe there's no way to use regular bolts if you drilled out the threads, but having threads in the base may seem cool but it is not really that cool ,no nylok like in aircraft nuts which are replacable no to mention if you just bolt things together ,like most people will do, no locktight, they will come loose.spots in nyc look across the river or upstate look on a topo map I'm not gonna give ya directions to my favorite spots cause they can be mean and I dont need people getting non skater attention on the few rippin nono trafficed hills in my area, but they are all on the map.

angled risers + exkates

This config is dubious because the eXkate's baseplates are threaded for the four mounting screws that hold the trucks to the deck. If you angled the eXkate baseplate by using an angled riser pad you would have to drill precise diagonal holes through your deck! Believe me, the eXkates turn plenty sharp without angled risers. Of course, if your intent is to detune their responsiveness that's another issue...

i've got a gravity hypercarve 47" which i love. it came with angled risers and B2's - i'm considering trying out the exkate 250mm and i was wondering if they worked with angled risers? anyone have any experience? also, any NYC longboarders here know of good spots in manhattan? (fuck all you cali folks with your perfect weather and endless runs!! ;)

Hey all you exkate users, for removal this is what we do on our production line, as sometimes we need to change bushings, we mostly only sell completes (fluid) with reds, but stock all colors, any how. To change the bushings forget using knifes, they can hurt you. Go to your garage, pull out a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer, make the screwdriver med. to smaller size. Take your board flip upside down, pull the nut off then use the screwdriver with the hammer, point it towards the steel washer thats connected to the bushing, as the truck is alloy and will chip, hit the screwdriver at the bushing closest to the axle first once the thing pops twist the screwdriver with your hand then pop off the axle piece, then hit the other end of the bushing the same way, only point towards the bushing as stee is strngert than alloy. Its that simple, no knifes needed. Then put new bushing on and tighten till snug, if you keep wrenchin on it you will strip the threads on the nut and your screwed, remember that tightening the nut harder and harder will NOT make the truck turn diffrently, its the bushing, these trucks are made under a torsion not compression technology. Enjoy!!

I have and ride both ..... absolute personal preference to which one you prefer. Neither have serious problems. I ride the exkates when I am feeling hyped up and doing some serious park concrete carving and the randals for the more mellow cruising or transport runs where I may get a lot more speed over distance up. I suggest you try both, if you can't get to try them get the exkates if you surf shortboard and want a truck that carves like crazy and get the randals if you have only ever ridden normal trucks and want to do some faster hills, but like I say it's personal preference on the whole.

sO YOU R TR UcKS HA VE A SQUeA KY lEAKY. do nOT oIL YOUR BUSHINGS YOU SILLY BOY! DAT MAKES FOR A TRUCK THAT IS MORE SQUIRreLY THAN A FATHER TAKING HIS 10 YEAR OLD TO sOUTH pARK THE MoVie! Anyhow, the lubricant will attract dirt and when the lube dries up, boom! squeakier thAn ever. So, use a dry lubricant in the pivot finger bushing. Also for extra measure, sand with 100 grit sandpaper the top and bottom of each bushing and the hanger's bushing platform (both sides) Enjoy!

hey, my trucks were squeky and annoying too, just take the nut off the kingpin, take out the bushings, and where the hangar is put a drop of oil in there then just put it back together. this will stop the squeaks, and make a smoother, quieter ride. keep cruisin' longboard guy

I'm thinking of getting different bushings for my exkates. Right now I've got the reds. Based on personal experience, which bushing do you suggest I get if I do more high speed carving than bombing. I'm 150 pounds.

Randall RII vs eXkate

With all the problems people are having with eXkates why don't they just buy a set of Randall trucks and ride happy instead of having to spend so much time in the eXkate support group? The RII's performance is excellent and they are absolutely relisable- maybe folks just need to try 'em. Personal preference is cool too; even the Edsel had it's followers. Have Fun

it looks like only my blue bushings have a metal ring (it may just be paint at that) - my others have no such ring, so just grab a knife and jam it in a mentioned, and yours should pop off.

I posted this on the decks page before I realised it wasn't the trucks page, it was in response the Wades post on kapu, so hereit is again : Hi Wade, Considering that you seem to watch this site I thought I'd post a few questions and comments here ( I presume you were to busy to answer my email ... must have caught it off jason :-). Anyway I went through the whole who ripped who off shit with Jason and Brad (from D'adv) and don't want to get into it again ... I ride exkate on my smaller park board (45") and kapu on my longer cruisers (52 & 60") so I aint biased towrds either. But until you guys get ot the 'dampened' bushings that were promised kapu are going to attract a market of people like like a bit less twitchy feel than the exkates can give at moment. I have all the bushings and while the stiffer ones aren't as twitchy on the straight run but even with the green ones they tend to suddenly give to full carve, the kapu setup gives a more solid feel and a more graduated response. This could be addressed with a dampened feel bushing that will give more of a graduated response. So my questions are : When can we expect the new formula bushings jason told me a guy was bringing the trucks into England and gave me the guys email, I have lost it and wondered if he was still doing it and if so can you post his email as when I get there I need some more sets (still can't get them over here). thanks

exkate bushing removal

be carefull...what I do is take a knife (butterknife or sharper) and slip it between the bushing and the baseplate. This is not easy because you have to be sure to get it between the metal ring on the bushing and the metal of the plate. Once you get the edge in there, just work it back and forth and the bushing should pop off. If this doesn't work, and this may sound crazy, you may want to boil or freeze the truck. Odds are that the urethane and metal contract/expand at different rates and the bushing should pop off (who knows?).

I have been pullin and pryin, wishin and cryin, but they just won't budge! Any suggestions? They are pretty old, so I think they are cursted on. Could you post any suggestions here, so everyone could benifit? Thanks dude!

Speaking of exkates.... Does anyone know if the bolt that keeps the bushings on comes off? You know what I am talking about, the big bolt that goes thru the hanger and the bushing, that attaches them to the base. Anyway, if you hit it with a hammer, does it come off the base? I want to know if anyone has done it before I go smashing my exkates all to hell. Also, Kristen are you sure about your information? I dont know about the new guy, but the old guy that used to work there (you know who I am taking about) was not very good at getting back to people about their problems. Ok, now who knows about that bolt? Later late.

I only have one question: Which truck turns tighter? A truck with the cup that sockets the knobe pointing strait up, or a truck with the cup almost parrallel to the deck so the knobe is bent at alomst 90 degrees away from the king pin. I don't know the terminology for that metal protrution that sticks into the rubber lined hole at the base of the truck, but I hope you get my question. Standard trucks, not the new stuff.

From what I understand, Exkate has a lifetime guarantee on their trucks. Maybe you should call them and see if they'll take care of that for you. Just an idea...

I dont know why everyone is talking about talking so well about these randals. eXkates kick ass over any other truck in the business ...and as far as webb trucks go they were made by skaters for skaters and just because they look "gothic" maybe you need to look beyond the norm and get out of Kansas Toto.
