Ice blades

They do not work at all. They were sharp on the bottom like a knife and just dug into the ice. If you had a set and made them profiled like ice skates they might work OK. Keep in mind that turning on ice skates requires using an edge, something skate trucks were not designed to do. Hugh R now has my old ones.

I've got a set somewhere! The best luck I had w/ them is with a sail on a windy day on a lake!! They are not efficient nor do they turn as well as wheels so it's best to have a large area to play in!! And the sail aspect aids in the constant pushing on a totally flat surface! A lake on a slope would be cool!! now..where to find one

I'm looking into at set of those ice blades (not sure of the real name, can't seem to find them in my old skatebrder mags). But, does anyone have a set they wouldn't mind selling. Also, I should ask, do they work or could they work? I just started a rink in the back yard so I try'em in private without the chance of getting beat up by the guys playing hockey at the local rink.

has an awesome vintage shot of Gregg Weaver at about 10 years old(real young anyway) nearly dragging his butt on a lonboard carve on a big wide street(la costa) with no houses at all. Can't tell if they're a dirty set of original lipless cadillacs(dakine')or even clay wheels. The board looks like he cut it out of a tree with an axe.

These are wierd, metric axle nuts 8.0x1.25, metric 8mm kingpin flipped like a Randal, otherwise tracker rip-off. The small kingpin is bad, regular bushing the hole's too big, these go on the shelf in favor of an extrack in the front.

here is something I picked up at Surfermag.com Some of you Nor. Cal. Doc Ball fans may want to consider a SKATE FOR DOC BALL memorial.
NEWS PADDLE FOR DOC BALL Roy Earnest who did the film Surfing for Life which featured Doc prominently is organizing a paddle out in Doc's honor. Doc had many friends in the Pedro Point area apparently and certainly many people know about him. Roy attended the service for Doc last Saturday and asked me to pass this information along: Roy writes,
"I will be holding a paddle out memorial service for Doc Ball on Saturday, December 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at Linda Mar/Pacifica State Beach in Pacifica. It will be followed by a potluck luncheon on the beach, weather permitting. If you know anyone who would like to attend, please pass on that information."

Motoboard

You know its a good day when your motoboard finally comes in, and the red, unidentified wheels as seen on ebay turn out to be C-70 red kryps in excelent condition, w/ krypto bearings. A very tasteful choice in cored late 70's wheels (have to be cored so you can screw the live axle into the rears)
Some questions: did blizzard make v-lams, this one has maple / mohogany on top of 6 ply plywood, orange "blizzard skateboards" sticker in the center. Someone else thought the board might be a benji board, have to admit it looks like one. I don't think the deck is original, all the more reason to make it a moto-longboard. the front trucks say "kjell 182" anyone heard of those (small pivot tracker geometry).

Mark, The Dog Town doc. is getting good reviews even from nonskates. It's due out in April 2002. Check out upcomingmovies.com for it's release. Also the zboys.com (I think that's the address) has everything else you need to know about D.T. There's even a book on D.T., soon to be released.

1970's skate footage

While we're on the subject, have any of you out there been fortunate enough to see Stacy Peralta's recent movie? I think it is called "Dog Town and the Z-Boys"(?) I heard about it, and am anxious to see it. Supposed to be some killer vintage film.
Getting skate or surf films is tough to do in Dallas. You either buy (sight unseen) or pretty much forget it. This film of Stacy's is too new to be on video. Will it see nationwide release, or is it going to be a very "regional" thing? (Which means: some dumbass 'program director' or 'marketing consultant' decides that Dallas is not the big-bucks market, so I don't get to see it at all. No offense to those professions, it's greed that's the root problem there.)
