1977 Skateboarder mag

So I'm in the basement digging through boxes looking for my old skate stuff, and I run across a perfect 1977 Skateboarder magazine. I start thumbing through, and pause on a picture of Gregg Weaver in a Rector palm pads glove ad. I notice that his signature on the picture is sort of scratchy, and not as slick looking as an art director would approve of. Then I notice that it appears to be in ink, and a few pages later, there's Tom "Wally" Inouye's autograph, and suddenly I remember meeting them and hanging out at a post closing session at Freestyle Skatepark in gaithersburg MD. I seem to recall that there were 3 dudes there... I get to the page with the the picture (and autograph) of Stacy Peralta in a desert pipe doing his patented new move "the fakie". We saw him roll up this big wall at the park that day, and at the lip he did...nothing. Just rolled back down the wrong way. We were dumbstruck. Ah the crucible of nostalgia. And I wore Vans old schools to the lab today.

Yes p...a henert bucks. Pictures don`t do this board justice. One, I am not flagarant (sp?) with throwing around terms like NOS ans MINT. Two, if you haven`t noticed, I never use reserved auctions. And three, I have a lot ($$$) into it.
The board is as close to mint as it gets without calling it mint and I`ve never seen one nearly close to it`s condition.

Just got around to updating my site. Some cool stuff got added. Also, I'm giving away skateboards if you'll donate to the National MS Society. Check out my web site for more info.
Thanks - Alvin

Hey Jonathan!
On the text, it came down to a simple question of server space and bandwidth... posting up the pics in a viewable size will let me do a whole mag in between 5 and 9 megs per issue. When I make it so that all the text can be read, then the size per issue goes up to around 25 or 30 megs or more... and down loads take way to long... and I don't have that much space on the servers I am using although I do get 12 gigs of bandwith per month.
I used to have virtually unlimited space, but now I have to purchase it just like everyone else! Drag!
When all is said and done, I'll have around 20 mags up... If there are paticular interviews and such, I try to post those up on their own, in a readable size... HR

I agree with Duane here [not the first time].
I got a set of 6 Tracks off TK for 175.00 [Near Mint]
I know that's not cheap, but I couldn't find a set anwhere, and I was asking for Stage 1 Indy's at the time that TK offered em.
But 350.00 for those mag Trackers is ridiculous. If memory servers [as it does so often], those were 90.00 a set back then. Expensive, yes. But 350.00?
Reserve has been met at 1100.00 which is very reasonable considering what's there.
I'm considering bidding. But I hate stepping on Alvins toes. He seems to want the stuff. This stuff is indeed rare. But I have all I could ever want [barring a Shogo].
Let's see where it gets in the coming days. There are heavy hitters out there.
Scabs, your call to him seems to smack of a guy who knows what he has, but is clueless to what it takes to make his dream price come true.
He bundled the lot up like a fool. Then is rude to inquiries?
I'll bid, but cautiously.

I don't think so, the beamer is 10.0", and regular sixtracks with 57mm wide powell-peraltas come up at almost exactly 10", those are sixtracks. Look at the copers, standard tracker extrack with sixtrack extensions.
I would avoid this guy like the plague.

BoBo, I spoke to the seller via phone and he wasn`t too sociable. He first said he was a skateoard wholesaler and then he said he was a Pro Skateboarder along with his brother. The guts name is Andre Smith. I asked what is his brothers name and he just asked back "Are you going to bid on it?" I said maybe but still didn`t get his brothers name. He lives in south florida but is not originally from hear. Where? Wouldn`t answer. He was very quick saying he`s recieved literally 100 calls including someone who said he was Tony Hawk. Maybe it was?
What strikes me odd was a while back I spoke to Alan Gelfand and he said that someone nearby had a Beamer and a Turner but no more info than that. He also said the Madnesium 8-tracks? cost $350 wholesale new?
Anyhoos, that`s all I got...

The Turner is especially nice. Not to discount the Beamer though.
