Thanks a ton for all the advice you've given me on the situation. I'm giving the guy about 4 more days to come up with the SIMS board and after that I'm leaving negative feedback and writing some letters to the eBay folks. I really appreciate the help, its been great!

Saw him present on eBay fraud 4 months ago at a meeting of the High-Techology Crimes Investigation Association, Bay Area chapter. Nice guy, from Virginia.
Realize there are 600,000 new listings on eBay each day - not bad. In a market with over 1200 recognized players, eBay commands 80% market share - a virtual monopoly.

Herbn,would that be Dave Dilberg's downhill board?I believe he was sponsored by Pacer Wheels,and I know he had a ridiculously long,skinny,thin race board with wheels that looked remarkably like the Road Weapons of some ten years later.His board ran pretty narrow trucks too. Anyone from 'the day' know more? My curiousity is truly peaked.

Check this!I went riding last night in toasty 28 degree weather,the hill was near a friends house so i stopped by,Kirk is what i would call a middle school skater,quite burly,semi tech.He told me there's this guy who has a halfpipe,where he's been skating,and this guy has a downhill board (1of3)he built in 75 or so,it came in second in the 78 or 79 world championships in longbeach(signal hill?) ,supposedly the guy riding it got his leathers washed and they shrunk so much he couldn't hold a good tuck,what an excuse:),but the board sounds really cool.It's aluminum construction with reinforcment ridges on the rails and in by the trucks, some sort of really low all metal torsion trucks,the wheels are out past the deck, with a very flat lein angle.Kirk does some welding so he commented a couple times about how smooth the welds were(kirk built the new hand rail at the Broklyn Bridge banks)The wheels are metal cored supposedly with some really high quality roller bearings,and maybe one light regular type bearing.It had some sort of ground effects and some sort of disc in the back.I have to check this board out in person.Imagine what this board would do on E bay!even better i'd like to get a ride.Does anyone remember this board,thinking about it,i may have heard the shrunkin leathers excuse before.That kind of Torsion spring truck action would be real easy to make,but if you didn't get the spring materials right,if they break they probabely break completely,no problems for a special occasion board that goes mostly straight,just keep replacing the springs if you want to be sure and at 50ish mph you should be sure.

After giving the "gentleman" the oppourtunity to make good, I would go one step further than neg. feedback and report him to ebay for fraud. Contact ebay customer services and ask for a full investigation. Don't let up. Use the word "FRAUD" as many times as neccessary. This is not simply an noncompliant seller. Email ebay every day and demand that they remove this fraud from the roster. What he has done is, at least incompetent, and at the most illegal. You can also let him know that what he has done also qualifies him to be investigated for "Mail Fraud" and similar scams. Internet auction fraud has become a substantial problem and state and federal government agencies are getting involved. Chances are that he doesn't care about feedback, because it only lowers your rating by one point.
Good luck. It is unlikely you will get "your" board, but you do have a chance at shutting this creep down.

I bought one in 1976 (Tracker trucks, Road rider red wheels, etc)
and foolishly sold it in 1978 for a song. If anyone even has an old ad or picture of same I'd like to see it if possible

I also agree with Eric. I once had a guy accept and cash my check, go missing for several weeks, then finally reply that he sold the magazine to someone else. Unfortunately, I'd been a bit late with my payment (although I did keep him updated regularly), so we ended with him eventually refunding my money and an agreement that neither of us would post any feedback on the transaction. I did so in order to keep my Ebay record clean, as well. To this day I feel a certain sense of regret because I feel his offense was far more egregious than mine and was handled very poorly. In this case, assuming that there were no similar errors on your part, I'd give the guy the chance to make it right, or assuredly I'd give him Neg Feedback.

I agree with Eric....a deal is a deal. I was on the other end (seller) of a similar deal and learned the hard way. It was with collectable fishing tackle and it took me quite a while to get my good rep back. I WAS WRONG!!! Again Erics advice is right on too. I`d email the guy and add that according to eBay, it`s a done deal. If he doesn`t want to comply, NEG feedback. Proper communication and with a good threat should resolve this (did I mention you might add a check into this with Safe-Bay). A man is his word....PERIOD!

Herbn,It's been about 15 months since I last took my Road Riders out for a run,but they're not really slow on good,smooth tar.Of course,hit a small rock,and the no-bounce 'thane stops instantly,while you go for a quick flight(isn't inertia just wonderful!).The cool thing was how sticky they are at speed.Still,they're no match for today's wheels,except in looks.

Man that sucks... I find it highly unlikely that he would have a digital image of the deck and go through the trouble of posting it on ebay if he didn't have it.
I agree with you. Some scum offered him twice(maybe 4X) what you were going to give him and it magically vanished.
People like that really piss me off. I have sold stuff on ebay, often with a $1 opening bid. If the highest bid was $1 it was yours no if ands or buts!
I think he's screwin you and the guy who's buy'n it out from under you is just as bad. If he(the new buyer) was a stand up guy he would of emailed you and offered the cash for it.
If I were you I would email him and let him know the bad feedback is comming. He should not of listed it if he did not have it. He has just broken a legal contract.
I'd be pissed, but hey, it's only a skateboard. Most of the guys on ebay are good people. Half(if not more) of us are buying/selling on ebay now and a bad rep for a sour deal like this could screw that guy for a while.
Nobody likes dealing with someone they don't trust.
(I will tell ya $75 was a killer deal for any Sims deck in good shape)
I know, just makes it worse....sorry.

Thanks for the info man, its much appreciated. It seems that I will not be getting the deck after all, the seller flaked out on me. He is telling me that the deck is missing from his brothers apartment...yadda yadda yadda.
My theory is that someone saw the auction after it was over and offered him more money for it. I'm not certain about it, but more than halfway sure of it.
Should I do anything else besides leave bad feedback? Any suggestions are welcomeI am really bummed about this. Anyone else have this board they wouldn't mind selling to me for around the same price? I'm pretty sure I had a good deal going and I doubt I'll be able to come accross it again.

Looks like a later model stratoglass. Bout 7 1/2 to 8 inches wide
and 27 long. The deck looks later than the truck/wheel combo as it was listed on ebay.
(Yep, I hawk ebay for the deal that slips through now and then. I saw it)The deck looks to be in
good shape. Although it's not highly collectible I allways liked the solid glass Sims/G&S decks because I felt they were stiffer
than the lam jobs. At 16 I was at 6' 170lbs so my glass decks had to be stiff. I think you should hunt down a set of Sims Comps to slap on that thing.
Perhaps with some ACS500's/Bennetts and I think it would look like a primo classic 70's glass board. Don't forget the translucent red 1/4" risers.
Not a bad price on that deck if it is in as good of shape as it looks.
I'd take it over many other decks I've seen out there. But I'm a Sims nut.....

I think theres some new school wheels i can look into for a cheaper wheels. for instance the krptonic 62mm classics? whats the hype? are they any better then the new school wheels?

Let's not forget the really quite rare Sims GS bowlrider,same dimensions as the "Bowlrider" but center set,with reinforcments on the lips,real rare,and even slower than the more common Sims wheels.They didn't fit on many trucks!so not that many people bought them ,so not that many batches were made,maybe only one batch?They didn't fit on my Trackers,they wouldv'e fit on California Slaloms or wide Bahne trucks.I have a virtually unused set of Roadrider 6's,i keep thinking i should mount them up and test them out on a speed run,how far have we come? have any of you checked this out,i know new wheels are faster, but quantifing it would be interesting,a old but unused set of IKS sealed bearings would make things obvious.

Last time at the park we were discussing the ebay craze and the insane amount people are paying for these decks. $3500????? how does that poor dude sit down now?
I payed $100 bucks for an old slalom deck I really really wanted and felt like I went over my self imposed skateboard spending limit. I guess I wanted that deck $100 bad enough and he wanted the "DT" deck $3500 bad enough, go figure.
The thing that bugs me is I know for a fact that a lot of counterfeit equipment was around in the 70's and that was before decks were grabin 3 g's on ebay. Tracker trucks had a bad problem with clones as did Sims, ACS, Dogtown, and just about any other "cool" equipment. Some of the knock offs that came from overseas were excellent. That doesn't even include the clones some of us hammered out in wood shop. We had access to mediocre equipment in school (i.e. presses, silkscreening, finishes) and some of the kids turned out decks that looked as good as if not better than the originals. We loved the Dogtown graphics and took a lot of pride in our "new" dogtown graphics we silkscreened in art class. No doubt one day one of those old boards will make it to ebay. Now that these "rare" or "one of a kind" boards are fetching $600-$3500 on ebay some crook is going to realize that it is a lot more profitable to make knock offs than new boards.

LowRider, Watch EBay. You'll see some old Sims wheels from time to time. Although you may occasionally see some 1980's Sims wheels, the "Pure Juice" line from the 70's is probably more what you're looking for. The first model of which I was aware, was the Sims Pure Juice Competition (or "Comp"). It had fairly "normal" dimensions for the time (2"x2"?), with a flat, logo-screened back and an angled face. The next "Pure Juice" model, in my recollection, was the Bowlrider. This wheel was kind of funky, and is probably fairly collectible. The Bowlrider was, at least, one and a half times, if not twice as wide as it was tall. After that came the revised "Comp II". All three of these models came in the original Sims red "Pure Juice" urethane.
