i've owned one 75 issue since 75 it's a core and a bunch of loose rounded pages, bruce logan interview ,pool riding symposium ect ect. I have another one i bought from ted terrebone that has the skitch hitchcock fiberglass wave thing in it,that one has a kryptonics ad , that doesn't have a picture just a rendering of two wheel shapes i think they're like 57 and 65 mm and only one formula, 85a i know they're blue grey from pics that someone has posted here,i think.

herbn, God, no!!! not more. What is this 'day one, blue/gray' wheel you speak of? Tell me more. I guess this pre-dates the mainstraem production. Are they raised letter like the production 1st gen. what are the chances of me finding any or even one. Anyone got pics. The 'browned' orange wheel rock hard, like the amber very different to the bright red orange. I have a set of old used 60mm amber Kryps that have gone the other way with age, a sort of yellow/gold. Will post Wide-Trac pics when I can get on Tinypic this evening. laurie

i see regular red gen 1 clear orange which was a harder version of yellow an extra grippy less resilient wheel for working your way down very steep fast hills. The odd one is the very shiney looking non transparent orange,is that a very glossy "browned" orange, i've only seen pics of well worn browned orange krypto's.,nice.How about the original "day one" blue/gray?

Clear red krypto? I don't recall a clear red formula. Maybe the clear orange changing color like the Bottle greens turning brown........

Vintage Man. I do like the way you display your wheels; on a shelf, 3 stacked and 1 in front. Mine are stuck in a drawer, but I think some shelf erection is in order.

i find it interesting that in that one photo you managed to fit in the board, the patio, the lawn, your left foot, the dog food and the little empty wrapper you kept the weed in....

Oh my!
It looks like someone has been using that Sims Taperkick as a shelf!
Look at those shelf support marking on the underside and the corresponding screw holes. Oh dear, what a sad end for such a nice board.
I'll post some pics of my mint one on Photobucket soon and put the link here so you can restore it back to its former beauty.

I have recently aquired this Sims Taperkick which as you can see needs some real TLC to bring it back to life. After scouring my UK mags can not find a descent advert to give me some inspiration. Can anyone help.

thats true, but many of them have the right idea, but the wrong vehicle or where-with-all to push the product. That was my example with Mac-Track. Look at the set-up, a fiberglass board with additional strengthening, multiple shapes, etc etc. It cannot be helped that the UK lagged the US with market availability. In the UK, Skateboard Mag was it. And they atleast got their product into there.

thats awesome. I looked at the first 3 issues of skateboard (from my cd), but I did not go any further, becasue I KNEW it had to be too late. Oh well, guess not. Yep there it is in issue 5. I checked in Issue 6 and they have a sweet color ad, but the boards do not have the grip themes, just nice looking fiberform logos.

Ok, found it! I knew I'd seen it in the old mag, and I remember seeing them for sale when I lived in Uxbridge London in 1977. They were stocked in a sports shop in the highstreet. Looks to be some generic fibreglass crap put out by an engineering company, as so many were, just to make a quick buck. Like Buddy said, it seems everyone who knew how to lay fibreglass got in on the act.

Its not going to be in SKateboard Mag. It started too late (aug 77). a board like this is going to have be in an advertisement in a 76 vintage mag, and it may not even be a skateboard magazine. Many times I saw skateboard ads in car mags. For example the hooker skateboard.
Is thing aluminum or glass. If it is a aluminum, there was a company that offered their boards with the center beam and in a variety of shapes. If it is glass, then I just dont know. Also, it does not have to be a popular company.
Case in point, a company called Mac-Track offered a bennett geometry truck with a tracker style base, about 1.5 years before Indy, and even looked quite similar to what Indy put out. But without a large following and heavy marketing focus, they went under.
