Laurie,
Those are 66 mm Zigzags. The original wheels were way too small and hard to use, so while I'm waiting for a set of clear red 66 mm Zigzags 78a, I use these.

My trucks are different, with only the small bolt pattern. They measure about 45 mm, without the nuts that holds the axle, and about 53 mm with them. Looks pretty old.

The rest is history, but these Xcalibers were tuff options back then. ~78mm wide hangers. Either choice of small or large bolt pattern in a pre drilled base plate. Once manufacturers made the stud mount hanger like Tracker ruled with, and then later Indy, they fell out of favor.

Toby, here is attempt at posting image of my Xcaliber deck grafic. I sent you an email with pic as well. These decks are very sturdy and the "T" pre-indy style trucks are impressive. Released before independent came out and has RR2 wheels on this one.

I think its more interesting how people aquire these companies, and they rest on the laurels of the name but really do not have a clue about compmnay or history.
For a company like Kryptonics to be "lost" in their history is a bad thing.
i will check out the ACs site too. My first real skateboard trucks were some 430's on afiberglass board. everything else had been rink inspired products (chicago, sure grip, roller derby)

Its interesting how much historic information does or doesnt exist in these companies.
A few years back, the new marketing VP at Kryptonics contacted me wanting to use some of my photo's for their site revamp and was asking me about the wheels history. I thought this odd at the time; as if nobody there now, was there during the glory years to tell him the history from the company viewpoint.
They revamped the website again recently, and put up a company timeline. I dont know if you've seen it, but its miles out! Years out! Its crazy.
ACS is the same. Their history section on the site mentions only a few of the trucks and products they made back then.

Back around 2003, Krypt sent us some promo stuff for a contest/event. Within that were some nice T-shirts with the 3rd gen style rainbow logo. On the front of the shirt it said something to the effect of Kryptonics being around since 1965. Knowing that Kryptonics had changed hands at least once prior, I figured it was a "lost in translation" attempt that really should have read as 1975, instead of 1965. Anyway, whats the real story on this you Kryptonics gurus out there.
I had never heard of kryptonics beyond when we first saw them in 77, knowing at the time that they had been out about a year or so. in the 60's, urethane was available, but was not used for skateboard wheels that I am aware of. Maybe 1965 is a historic statement for Kryptonics as a company, who knows?

Converting mm to inches

madrat -
I never could find a ruler either. Sweet of Google to help with this. In Google search window, enter what you want to convert, like : 56 mm in inches, then hit key or click search and it will display "56 millimeters = 2.20472441 inches" at the top of the page. It will do that in reverse or any number of combos as all kinds of conversions are available. I believe it is their built-in calculator funciton. Hope it helps!

Just checked the dimensions of the Wide-Tracs, 57mm diameter and 60mm wide. About the only identifying feature of otherwise unmarked wheels. The little Hummers will be even harder to find and identify with no markings, small at just under 50mm x 50mm. Would like to know more about colours. I believe some 'second' quality Star-Trac wheels were sold (in the UK, at least) with the lettering lathed off (Alpine Sport ad, I think). Knowing the colours are differnt would help to tell them apart. Someone out there must have an NOS Wide-Trac!

Kryptonics Wide-Tracs or Hummers

The wide-track dimensions shown as 57mm x 60mm (assumed 57mm as dia), ends up being 2.25 dia x 2.36 wide. this corresponds to the dimensions shown on the B/W ad. However, I never really looked at the text in super detail. There are two different "slick" style wheels, the hummers and wide-tracks.
It looks like they dropped the hummers and adopted the 60mm, to fill out the star-trac product line.

Yeah, you are right, it does read that way. Interesting.
Here is a pic I had on my site for ages, when I was looking for a set of wide tracs. I have a set now, not as minty as Lauries set. The measurements are at the foot of this add. Unfortunately they are in mm not inches, and I dont have a ruler to hand to figure it out.
Its says Wide-Tracs - 58mm x 60mm

I am super curious now. What are the measurements on those clear green Krypts? I have seen that ad many times, and read it(or so I thought), but now I see that there are actually 3 sets of wheels described on that ad. Hummers 2x2, Wide-Tracks 2.25x2.375, AND THEN 2.75x2 70mm. Are those green wheels the Wide-Track or hummers?
the original 70mm versions pretty much stayed the same when they came out as the Star-Trac, but they added the 60mm.
