So missed the 1980s and 1990s as to skateboarding :----) Was also sipping beverages with the devils brew in em as well during those fun years!! Downtown San Fran biz area and weekends at some rugby joint in some city between Monterey Calif and Sacramento California!!! Missed disco though cause of rugby, and career :----) :----) Great info you have been providing.. Thanks, I was not sure what a Gremic was! David

Another interesting local fact (maybe if you are in the San Jose area) is that in the early 80's Bob Denike who was a local area ripper and later became the President of NHS, one of the largest skate distributors/manufacturers in the biz, was the manager and I think owner. NHS has a bunch of brands like Santa Cruz skateboards/surfboards, Indy trucks, Krux, Creature, Norcal, etc. http://www.nhs-inc.com/

Probably is "Gremic" which was a skate shop in Los Gatos, California. Their board brand was "Pegasus" if my memory serves me corectly.

Shaun, not exactly 'vintage correct', but effective, bushings would be Holey or the newer Randal tall conical ones. For more stability, Khiro barrels.

Taperflex per PSR thoughts :----)

PSR in my defense, I was sick past 9 days. Was high on cough medicine when I came up with the Strada idea.. NOBODY likes those wheels with this deck :----) As I took em off the shelf, I was looking at the Red NOS re-issue Tunnels I have!! You mentioned they would look good... I had same thoughts, but the cough medicine and color formations was just to powerful in my mind LOL!! I am partial to Road Rider 4s and should have pictured em on the deck!
Deck is for trade/sale..Think I have a trader. So Taperflex picture mostly for show. As I have removed the trucks/wheels and are back to storage :---) Hobie Weaver restoration this weekend. Complete and OG. Should look great! It will be for trade/sale. Yes I will post and torture all of you! PSR Post a picture of your stuff you mentioned or send to my email address... You have I hope! Cheers to all and back to biz/work!! David

Vintage, how about the 'new' Tunnel Rocks instead of those quad-wheelie Stradas? Just a thought, nothin' against the Stradas, as I used to race on those. Nice resto, I'm a tad jealous... BTW, my Hobie Parkrider now sports Lazers and ABEC 11 Stingers (same core as a Strada, just a few millimeters wider at the tire), but the Tunnels are on my 'wish list' for it (as are a set of Mid-tracks, since that's what was on it for two decades of ridin'). Meanwhile, my 2-1/2 year old twins love the Hobie enough that 'Daddy' here dosen't get to ride it without an arguement from them! ;-)

Yeah, the magazine that was included in The Independent is available on line now
http://en.redbulletin.com/articles/magazine_archive/
There are 4 magazines on this page, the April edition is the top left, black cover. If you click the cover, it loads a clever e-book thing that lets you flip through the pages and click to zoom and read. Under the picture of each edition, you can also load and save it as a PDF
Page 13 is the one with the Quicksilver to modern board comparison.
Last months, also contained an interesting article on skater Don Brown and his move to USA and starting Etnies shoe company Sole Technology.

Still got my eye out for those Variflex connection trucks for you.

I have one of my vintage skateboards featured in 'The Independent' newspaper tomorrow, Tuesday 7th April, which includes a modern sports supplement from 'Red Bull'
Page 13 of the Red Bull supplement magazine features old 'state of the art' skateboard technology compared to today's.
They shot a number of my boards in London and they selected the one you see (Powell Quicksilver) as representing the peak of skateboard technology in 1977 when skateboarding gained its most attention. I wrote a piece for them covering the technical background on the equipment and they have included a shortened version of it.

hey, i finished my makaha today! heres some pics- I used clear grip on the top, cut to show the inlaid wood, im still going to put the stars on the wheels to resemble the brazilian flag at some point. Oh, and for those that may not know, Jairzinho was the first player to score at least once in every game of the world cup. =)
