Here's a few thoughts. Make your own. A lot of the boards from back in the day were made out of oak or other hardwoods, with a wedge glued on to the tail for a kicktail. It's really pretty low tech, even by 1970s standards. If you have access to decent tools or know someone who does, it wouldn't be that hard.
Also www.poolskater.com (in the slalom section of all places) has a reproduction of a 36" Sims oak kicktail. Probably too long for what you're looking for but could easily be cut down and redrilled to fit you needs.
Finally, not all vintage stuff costs an arm and a leg. Big name companies, G&S, Hobie, Sims, Logan Earth Ski, etc., go for big bucks, but there's a lot of other stuff that's priced pretty reasonably. Lots of small companies that didn't have people like Tony Alva riding for them made equipment real similar to what the big names did, and this stuff can be picked up for a quarter of what the name brands bring on the collector's market.

what should some one ride that would be perfect for old 70's era freestyle? i know you can do the same tricks on mostly any board but it's just not the same feeling, you know? i want people to know what kind of skating i do by the kind of board i ride. remember, stuff like old ed nadalin's aren't that common, or cheap for that matter! so remember when anwsering my guestion: stuff that is acsessable and reasonablely priced so that the board, trucks, wheels decribed can be bought again and again.

Why didnt anyone tell me about this forum?I just discovered it last night,and I read every page,I sat and looked at the Skateboarder archive in the russ howell section ,but it seems most of the Freestyle Trick tip pages were gone i was there for so long my eyes wouldnt focus for two hours.

I've had very limited experience with the reverse freestyle deck, but I'd probably just order it as the complete, I really like the reverse freestyle wheels, and the new full tracks fit it perfectly for rail stands/flips.

I have one w/indy 126's and Reverse freestyle wheels. It is a great board. I cannot work it like Lynn Cooper, but I'm getting there. It has a flat nose, which for me lends itself to nose wheelies, etc. Great board!

A question for all you frestylers out there. I am buying the Reverse Freestyle Lillis model deck. Has anyone tried it, and can you give me your feelings on it?
I'm mounting it with Indy 101's and 91a Lester Marbles.

When I was shooting the hill there and doing those classic surf moves by Phill Edwards, Kemp Aaburg,
Mike Doyle, and Micky Munos, I was thinking that on a clear day, you could see Micky's house, from that hill.
Also, just to top it off, I wore my Hawaiian shirt that had
that classic shot of Edwards drop knee turn.

i stopped riding my foster freestyle. i thought i could be "strictly" freestyle, i can't. i found myself getting my street deck out and hitting up that curbs at the park, i'm weak. i have always had a style that mixed the two styles together. i have never went that big like the rest of the people i skate with. i never really been into ramps, gaps, drops, handrails, etc. its just not my thing, you know? i've always liked the old school street, curbs and banks have always been my favorite things to skate, besides just flat ground. i don't thing i'll sell it, i'll break it out every once in awhile. i know one thing i'm going to do, stop trying to be something i'm not...
