...and Mr. Lynn Cooper, you wouldn't happen to be that Christian contemporary songwriter, would you?
lol Sorry, I was jest trying to funny. I know who you are...I use to be a hardcore freestyler in the 80's on the East Coast and recognize your name...I can even (still) picture your face from the mags. Glad to hear you and others are still "kicking". I too still bust out my board and freestyle once in a while, but am more into "low-impact" skating nowadays. I have some old freestyle videos of me, however, they are pretty lame compared to what I use to be able to do. No runs or nothing, just me standing in front of the camera doing tricks. I wish I had video of my runs when I competed and was at my personal best...but Nooooooooooo. I can STILL do an oldskool Steve Day handstand kickflip. Believe it or not, I use to be able to do one of those doing a 360 shove-it. NOT ANYMORE!
Anywho... Take care!

i've seen all the current freestyle videos that have come out. richy carrasco's demo, primo's demo, the casper video and flatlands. the demo tapes are cool but very short and poor quality. lynn's flatlands video was good but the best stuff on it was the old 80's footage. alot of us have never seen guys like pierre andre skate before. but so far the best freestyle video has to be the casper video. all the skaters are really good and the video itself looks more current. tommy harward and daryl grogan blew my mind. but all the skaters were super good and there are alot of crazy tricks.

Hi, Dalton, is Comet in San Diego? If it is you can just come by the Casper Industries Show Room on a week day before 4pm and Bobby and/or I will show you some freestyle basics. Give us a call: 760-439-9944.
The Exodus Skate Rock Jam this week end was great! It was a Christian event put on by Dennis Martinez that drew about 500 skaters. Flatland freestyle demo's by the Casper Team and Primo and Diane rocked the spectators, big time. So much so that the Exodus Tour promoters have invited the freestylers to do a show at the next two events. Since the next one will be in Oceanside, California, Casper is now thinking of having a championship freestyle contest as part of the action (that will be at the original bandshell)!
Two weeks ago, a "pick up" WFSA demo team of current flatland champion from the Casper Team, Daryl Grogan, Staton Team member Robbie Adams, Casper artist and WFSA announcer Nils Hanson, and vintage longboard Pro "steelwheel Bob", preformed a "History of Skateboarding" mini show. Went very well and we got some "invites" to future gigs from the promoter that has an 11 city tour going on called the "Art of Skateboarding"

I've only been sk8ing for about 3 or 4 yrs and I've pretty much been into the "new-school" style because that's what I saw when I started. However, I'm becoming more and more interested in earlier forms of skateboarding, thanks largely to guys like Mullen and Alva. I also work at a place called Comet where they make slalom and longboards in addition to the short ones I ride. I'm not sure where I should start though. What are some good basic tricks to begin learning freestyle? I can do basic railstands but not much else in the way of freestyle.

Hey,
I just called Casper Industries about Dennis Marteniz's Christian Rock/Skate event, see about 10 posts down. It will start at 1:00, and the location is 1440 Hotel Circle North, San Diego (what used to be the Cinema 21 theater). Lots of freestylers will be there. One of my favorites, Primo Desiderio, should be getting there at about 11:00, since he has to leave at about 2:00.
