Well, the word is out and response is GREAT! Thank you all for the fantastic comments about the new "FLATLANDS" movie. We put a lot of work into promoting Freestyle (old and new) within this movie and for those of you that have called or written, your comments made it all worthwhile! :)
Thanks again. If you want to pass this along, please tell people to visit www.skatelegends.com for more details.

Thanks Richy! The long beach Extreme show was a lot of fun. There was not the turn out we had hoped for from a trade and spectator show that was this big, but next year will be better. Thanks to Bobby and Casper Industries for sharing the Casper booth with the other freestyle companies, and the WFSA. Casper Industries will be a sponsor of Dennis Marteniz's Christian Rock/Skate event on July 27th in San Diego. The Casper Team will be doing demo's and jam's and a showing of The Casper Video at this event, like they did at Long Beach. There will be a street and vert course also, with pro demo's and open to the public skate sessions...free food and four great bands...no admission, call 760-439-9944. Casper Industries will also have a booth at the San Diego ASR trade show and will have domo's and jam's. The WFSA has been doing demo's and jam events in the L.A. inner city areas featuring Jonh Pope, George Douville, James Santillan, and whats left of Bob Staton. These events are the work of Hiedi Lemon of the SPA USA organization. SPAUSA and WFSA have formed a group of the more active and consistant inner city kids they call The L.A.Metro All Starz. Next year there will be an L.A. Metro Skate Series that will include street, flatland, and flatland slalom run by SPAUSA, WFSA and Bob Staton's Cal South GRS Chapter. There will be a grand opening of the Hollywood Extreme Sports Theme Park on the 8th of July...Casper team will be there also.

Just came back from my first ride on my new freestyle board, a cut down new skool deck.lol. I shortend and squared off the end, then cut down the nose and redrilled the trucks an inch or so closer togethere. So much more a free ride, the board just does exactly what your feet tell it, great fun. 360 spins never felt so easy (a few months ago I had a scare after i couldnt complete a single 360) and shove its and flips just seem to fly like never before. I cnt belive it took me so long to do it, id have paid 4 a deck designed for freestyle (i was considering the yoyo freestyle) but im so broke its not funny. So there you go, ever stuck for a board, just cut down a 'nu-skool' deck thats unused:)

Scott, good to see some one around here can list tricks off Tony Hawks. I was starting to get worried that no one here was able 2 write lists with the intention of impressing people they had never met. My faith has been restored.

I just ordered the On Skateboarding WInter 02 video from Longskate and the Rodney Mullen Introspective is so beautiful I wanted to cry. The section contains old home video from 1979, footage from the Oceanside contest where he beat Rocco, clips from several more recent videos, and a slew of pros saying "he invented every trick I know how to do" Best $20 I've spent in a long time. And as near as I can tell, a helipop is a 360 trick consisting of a 180 backside nollie to rear wheels and the last 180 pivoting on them.

If I remember correctly a helipop is what would now be called a backside 180 nollie. I know I have the Rodney Mullen trick tip in an old Thrasher that I could scan if you'd like to see it. Probably have to wait until next week sometime.

Patio: the "Freestyle" event is open to all ages and sexes and you will have 2 minutes to do whatever your sk8n heart desires. You will only have the road, your skate(s) and your imagination to show your stuff. There will be no ramps, etc to aid you. You can do more of a "slopestyle" run like Brad did at La Costa, or you can be a Rodney Mullen, or a Russ Howell/Stacy Peralta-it's up to you. Whether you win or not, this will be your chance to "show your soul" and have a little fun at it. All I know is that there will many different looking routines and expressions-just like in surfing we have the "expression session" to showcase talents and emotions that you don't always get to express in tight, strict and structured events. Whatever, come skate!! Tasos

Folly Beach is "slopestyle". is this the same as freestyle? I saw the gravity viddy of Brad Edwards slopestyle, and it was more carvey flow rather than "tricks". all I've done before is "streetstyle" with launch ramps, curbs, etc... I get more confused by the minute... p

I am a die hard longboarder,I took my friend (who is a shorty rider)on this huge hill with a lot of gravel on the turns. He rode his shorty ,hella speed wobble. To make a long story short he rode it out. Renewed respect for the other sport ,you guys rock. I can only see good things in the future. Even though I can't ride a board so small, the love is still there.
