Wow, HughR, where'd you find that score?
I don't recall that deck at all. I'll have to bust out the old Skateboard World and Action Nows to see if I can place it. The wheels look familiar, are there any text/print on them???

SK8KINGS.COM site re-launch
Just wanted to let everyone know that our web site has undergone a pretty major overhaul and after months in the making -- the new version is finally on line.
Some of the new things you will find include extensive photo galleries, a video theatre, team rider profiles, news and much more. The goal for 2004 is to help keep the heart and soul of skateboarding rolling along and hope our SK8KINGS web site can be a tool to grow the stoke. Check it out: SK8KINGS WEB SITE
Happy New Year to all. Looking forward to seeing you all at the next HB flatland event -- date coming soon!!!! Shooting for the second or third week of February.
PS -- Bob -- your plans sound great! I'm working on a calendar for the new web site which will include both flatland and slalom events as well as anything else I get wind of. Should be added next week. If you have a list of events thus far -- please send to me so I can be sure to list. Cheers!

Thanx Rene for the ASR pictures. You have been a great supporter of the WFSA and its events through out the year. Most of us on the inside know you and know how much you are involved with all areas of the skate world and I would like others to be able appreicate your dedication and visit your web site from time to time.
I need to know what the slalom schedule is for 2004. All the jams and contests I do in California must fit around that schedule because so many key skaters that I work with are involved with slalom.
WFSA is in the process of setting up the WFSA International Foundation to be the body that acquires major grants and then gives out the funds to various WFSA chapter groups and their projects. If any of you are interested in being on the board of directors please let me know. The board elections will be on the 20th. It is all about fund raising so board members mostly just review grant applications and proposals both in and out going and make recommendations and vote. Piece of cake.
Officers will be elected at this time also, so Rene, I suggest that you consider running for president. Thanx, Bob

The Venice Flatland Jam scheduled for Dec. 27th at noon has been expanded to include the Venice Skateboard Association and SPAUSA. This will be an end of the year skate party for all three organizations. WFSA-LA, SPAUSA, and VSA have interacted numerous times this year on a variety of skate projects and now it's time to play with the kids and give a little recognition to the hard working volunteers that made the wheels go round.
The party will include street, flatland freestyle, and high jump skate activities in a ghost jam format. Grab bag give aways and probably pizza will round out the event.
So get all your Christmas present return issues out of the way on Friday and join us on Saturday the 27th for hours of fun.

I forgot to give you guys Lynn Coopers web site, in case you don't know it already. It's www.skatelegends.com I don't know if any of you need graphics for anything. whether it's for a web site, shirt, sk8 deck, business card or what not. I am taking graphic design and I also majored in fine art for over 10 years now. I can do these things for a fare price, if any one is interested. You can view samples of my art work at www.artistitouch.biz . I Recommend the flash version of my site, unless you have a really old dinosaur computer that can only handle Javascript. I have a Java version of my site Too. talk to you all later, and If I don't hear back from any of you befor then, Have a Merry Christmas, If you don't Celebrate Christmas, Have a good Holiday!

To all of you that responded back to my last thread, Thankyou for responding back. It's nice to hear back from some people that I vagely remember. I do remember the name John Leathers, I just can't put a picture of you in my head since it's been a while. I haven't heard anything from Jeremy Ramey or Mike Kinney for a long while. My brother Terry is doing o.k. He can't skate any more due to artheritus in his ankles. He works at pearl vision, loves to play with slot cars and play video games. So he is still a big kid at heart, just more limited then before. He has his own web site based on slot car racing. The web site is www.geocities.com/vulcanspeedway/ . I could easily say that Jeremy Ramey was another good entrapanuer for me, as well as Mike Kinney. I saw that Jeremy ranked high scores for doing a lot of power moves, and Mike for his technical tricks. I just thought they all looked pretty cool. So I worked pretty hard on those tricks. I also had the good fortune to Sk8 with these guys atleast 2-3 times a month. I have the most recent SK8 video up on my web site. They are a bunch of short Freestyle clips grouped into one mini movie from the show Reading Rainbow. It has myself, Mike Kinney, Fabian Kravits, My younger Brother Jimmy Trimble Rollerblading, and Credits at the end for my Brother Terry, since he was the one that recruited all the skaters for this t.v. show. I feel that My brother deserves a big hand and hats down to him, since he did a lot for the sport. He not only helped run these casl and nsa contests, but he sponsored skaters during the terror at the towers contest when they lost their other sponsors. He helped build ramps 2 nights before the competitions. He really enjoyed doing these things for all of us and I feel that he still deserves recognition for his efforts to this day. Some people are remembered for their fame, fortune, or athletic abilities, and some are remembered for their infinite desire to help others. That's what Terry did a lot of, He always enjoyed helping people and still does. I gave you his web site link already, and it's your decision whether you want to e-mail him from his site or not. Best Regards, John Trimble p.s. If any of you would like to e-mail me in the near future you may do so by just clicking on my name above each of these threads. Also if you want to see the new video, you can visit it their at www.artistitouch.biz/Talents.html Also If any of you would like to get some videos of you skating in competitions, you probably would want to talk to Lynn Cooper, since he did a lot of filming at a lot of skate events.

John, you are very fortunate to have video of your comp routines. The one thing that bugs me about when I use to compete is that I have no video of those routines. I dug them!
And it was soooo great to see Lynn's video especially him doing a trick I had worked on but never mastered, the pogo impossible to pogo. What a sweet move!
Nice site too. You can be sure I'll be back to look at your artwork. St.John

Thanks for the info Dan, Unfortunately I'm not real familiar with all the names of the people that you threw out on your last thread, since Iv'e been out of skateboarding for almost 6 years now. It would be cool to meet some of these people and you some day. Lynn was a great teacher, brother and freind. I breifely got in contact with him over the phone one night in October 2003, and planned on catching up on old news, but it never happened, he's probably busy. I think it would be cool to jam with him againone day too. Thanks for the compliment on the videos. Sincerely, John

John, I had the good fortune to run into Lynn Cooper at "The Grind For Life" in West Palm Beach Florida a few weeks back. He is total class! I'd been using an older Reverse Freestyle deck that was the closest thing to the old Rodney "Mutt" model that I could find. Indy 109s and a 20 year old set of Powell freestyles! Lynn let me try his setup and I hit 3/4 flip to edge... and edge to edge so easy that you would swear the deck was designed just for me! I just had to have one that day! Thanks Lynn! We've had 3 freestyle contests this year with notables like Frank Lee and Will Sullivan and I'm sure we should equal that number of contests next year. Big thanks should go to Mike Rogers (MR's Skateshop OelsnerYMCA Skatepark) and Steve Marinak (FloridaSkater.com) for promoting Freestyle and all skating in our area. Check out the FloridaSkater.com web site to see what we're all about. It’s got links to photos/Tim's Vintage and MR's sites and ton more.

wheels, yes, a big thing. I met George Powell 1.5 yrs. ago in Germany and asked him to make some Freestyle wheels even w/o graphics; sent him an e-mail again, but no answer. I believe that they still have the molds, so it would be not a big problem. After that I looked for alternatives and have found some great freestyle figure skating wheels which are made by Roll Line. YOu can see them on my webpage in the 'products' section. They are 2mm less wide than the first Powell Freestyle wheels with almost the same shape.

Hi everyone, John Trimble here. Don't know if you know me or not, But I was the near reigning champion in my age division, Factory sponsored group for about 5 years in California. I also placed 9th in the nation at the Arizona championships, (Terror at the Towers) competition in 1989. I was about 13 at the time and had beaten around 25 other people almost twice my age that day. I worked very hard for that significant day for a lot of Freestyle skateboarders around the world. It was a good and fun time for a lot of people, and was also a big moment for me. Now that I'm done bragging, It's really unfortunate that freestyle competitions were stopped all together in C.A.S.L. and N.S.A. The year I was planning on turning pro, was when they decided to stop all freestyle contests. Shortly after that I lost all my sponsors, which I asume all if not most other freestylers did so as well. I decided to get into painting, so now I have my own mural painting business, and I'm going into graphic design as well. I f any of you are intersted, you may take a look at the web sit I developed using Flash, Dream weaver, Photo shop and Illustrator, as well as Movie editing software. You may take a look at my art work or you may be interested in viewing quick movie clips of me in past freestyle contests and 1 commercial so far. (Popsicle Twister). There is also a short movie clip tribute to Lynn Cooper since he was not only my brother inlaw at the time but he was also a big inspiration to me. You can visit my web sit at www.artistitouch.biz and to see the video clips and photos that Lynn Cooper and other epople took of me Skateboarding snowboarding and snorkeling, you may visit it at www.artistitouch.biz/Talents.html or you can simply go directly to the Kids portion of the web site then click on the Sports and Hobbies fish icon to get you there. Hope everyone is doing well, and If anybody knows when and where the next freestyle competition will be held please let me know. I'm still young enogh to compete where I won't hurt my self. Thanks and God bless. John Trimble

There will be a flatland freestyle jam at Venice Beach California on Saturday, December 27th. The jam site is right next to the "plaza skatepark" on the beach near Windward Av.
The Jam will generally be from noon to 4:00pm, some skaters come early and stay later, so just show up when you can. The plaza skatepark is cool, a big round open concrete area with a few boxes, ledges and small transitions, so bring your street board also. Photos will be posted on www.noicing.com
To get to Venice Beach ( North of LAX ) from the 405 San Diego FWY. Exit Venice Blvd and go west. For some reason Venice Blvd. splits in two, stay to the right and it will become No. Venice Blvd. stay on that and watch for Venice Way then take that off to the right. You will end up at Pacific and Windward. Windward dead ends at the strand. The jam site is out past all the lawns and slightly off to the right, just left of the little plaza skatepark. Hope to see some new faces and out-of-town visitors there.
