A couple new video clips have been added to the Team Known website. Bryson and Mick skated a pool the other day and took a bit of video. Have a look if you get the chance. More videos will be coming soon; Adam and I are currently in Australia filming some surf and skate stuff. Bryson and Mick will be joining us shortly. The Aus videos will be up this coming summer. If anyone knows of any good pools in Australia, especially the Sydney area, please let me know. -Match Team Known

All DC-area skateboarders, especially DC residents, are requested to attend a meeting Wednesday eve,4/20/05,7pm at Langdon Rec Ctr(on 20th St NE, just south of Rhode Island Ave), home of GSL to thwart an attempt by not-in-my-backyard(NIMBY) protesters to get the Green Skate Laboratory, which is near completion(all work done by volunteers and WITHOUT any taxpayer moolah) torn down before it can even open. The DC Pks & Rec Dept does support GSL and won't let it happen but now that spring is in the air and skateboarders are reviving a neighborhood that has been down on its luck....NIMBYs attempt to destroy a great thing that helps to fill a recreation void that has existed for far too long in Washington,DC. So, come on out and help us educate those that don't know or don't understand......and, while I have your attention...the Green Skate Laboratory is collecting used(or new) skate gear- decks, trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware, griptape, pads, hel mets to be set up and loaned to kids who wish to learn how to skate in this concrete bowl...all contributions are welcome...for more info please contact Terri or Chris at Greenskatelab.org or get in touch w/me and I will forward any contributions. Contributions are tax deductible...see your tax advisor for info about that. Skate for fun!

The Quad 10 is not the eight wheeler. The Quad is a 10" with I think around a 16" wheelbase. I have one and like it but it all depends on what you are used to. I also have a Buddy Carr which is more of the popsicle shape but in a 9" width. The Alva decks are pretty nice and the Red Kross (I think they changed the name again) decks by Black Label.
The Quad would be a nice ride but you may have to look to find them. I think most are sold out.

isnt that an eight-wheeler?, you dont want one of those. just get an alva or something 8.5"+wide, if your just starting bowl/pools you might want a wheel softer than 94a and work up to a harder=more slippery but faster, and at least 60mm. and ride loose trucks!!!!

Great shot of the "Two Wheeled Carve Grind" - You rarely see that anymore...
I was showing someone how to do it frontside the other day in the Encinitas Y Kidney- But decided to throw in a two handed grab...
Anyone got a shot of a pure "Tail Tap"?

Hamm, just let us know.....and hey, can I take you up on that Smithsonian tour??? I've actually never been there, ha ha. Nah, we'll show you the real DC.
O'Shei, what can I say?? This town ain't the same w/out you. We're long overdue for a shot of JO. Get your ass out here. Some brothers's tipped me off to an empty pool next to the most notorious neighborhood in DC (Sursum Corda) It's a rectangle with sweet trannys. You're one of the few I'd feel comfortable taking there. It's your kind of place.
Are you still driving to Indian School?? I'm in. Thinking about Maryhill too. BLR #6 and Top Challenge round out my season. Until GSI releases their schedule, of course.
The Green Skate Lab is seriously a work of art. Chris & Terry Nostrand, the ECRW and all the others should be very proud. I hold them all in the highest regard. Can't wait to hit that sh!t!!

I was born in Fairfax Hospital and raised in Oakton & Reston. I don't need not stinking Mapquest to find Arlington from Reston!!!!! And I could give YOU a tour of the Smithsonian blindfolded!!!! (just kidding, things have changed ALOT in the 18years since I bailed, including a 200% increase in traffic)
I'll give you guys plenty of advance notice.
J.O., I'm down with Smallwood. He's bro, full on! Gave me a DCDC(District of Columbia Downhill Club) shirt that I wear whenever I hang out the other transplants from the DC area. They freaking love it.

To the one guy who keeps the bowl stoke alive in a part of the country that is notoriously wet and who keeps us all stoked to get concrete skate parks built like they build 'em where he lives........and who posts up rad pix of skate action...when others just look out their windows and say,"It's too wet to skate, I'm going to videogameska8 instead." My hat's off to the man known as Tarpman....aka....the pacific North-west's Dan Hughes! Besides the great designs by Grindline,Dreamland,Airspeed,Calif Sk8pks,TeamPain,etc, Dan is the man who has documented the huge impact these skate park builders are having on the skate community and helping to spread the love one community at a time, especially the rise and fall/or relocation of the Ballard Bowl. Keep it up, Dan. One day I'll make it out to God's country!

Yea, there have been several impromptu fundraisers for the GSL in the past couple months but the one that was by far THE BEST was the one Anthony Smallwood got going with the wallride party, at the Blagden Alley Warehouse complete w/ skater-brewed beer, great bands, garden burgers from the grill and veggies. Yea, there was even nouriture for you meateaters too. People I skated with 10 years ago who I've lost touch with showed up there to support the cause. The place was packed, the skate action was high, the stoke was everywhere...it was the best party I've been to thus far this year! You tell Hamm to bring it all, J.O.!

Thanks John. Luckily through some extended searching and banging my head against the keyboard, I actually found a website that contained a pdf file of the waiver. In case anyone else needs it, go here: www.restonskatepark.com/lansdowne.htm
And scroll down till you see the link for the wiaver.
I found the number you mentioned, and tried it numerous times but all I ever got is a busy signal. I swear its like they don't want people from out of state to skate there or something.
And me and the groms got pads. Just gotta get the waivers notarized, and were all good. I'm psyched! I've wanted to skate there since I was a kid!
Thanks for your help though man, I really appreciate it. Hey, I think I might have met you once actually. Were you ever in Jersey for a longboard jam a few years ago?

John Dillon is a good dude, and DC rocks out. Smallwood is my Homeboy along with Jay Play, Big Time Dave, and Sprocket! Hamm you should bring your longboard as there are some awsome street runs. One gnarly one that Anthony and I took for the first time on my last trip. Night flying DC DC style.
Brown Weed Army, Rock on!
PS How bout an update photo of the Green skatelab. Heard you dudes had a rocking party.
Caint wait to get back.

Yes, you are correct that there's not much to find online......we have been trying to tell Pks & Rec that they are doing more to prevent people from skating by not having waivers avail for download online....if you bring under 18s who are not yours, it is true that they must sign a waiver by their parents....they may, however, bring a waiver that is notarized too if their parent cannot be with them the first time the youthful skater visits the skate park....but you must first get the waiver..........you may wish to reconsider your visit to the Downer until these bugs are worked out for you...no exceptions. You could, however, climb the fence if you arrive before the gate is opened but then you would have to park your vehicle in the hood and run very fast to escape capture when they do open the park once school lets out....again, preventing folks from skating who are not a part of the Baltimore County school system and those who have the day off from work.......one idea is to have a waiver faxed to you....do you have a fax machine?Or can they fax it to you at Kinko's or Office Depot but you need to know that number in advance and call them from said location so you can p/u the fax. Then make a bunch of copies for everyone that needs one, have the parents fill it out, get it notarized, and you should be good to go....let's see...I don't have the tel # in front of me....I called my friend, Taz, for the tel #: dial 410-887-1439, and ask Pks & Rec to fax you the waiver form. Steve or Joan will probably answer...if they can fax it to you, you will be in business....and, yes, the skate park will be supervised from 3pm -dark(7pm nowadays). Good Luck and have fun! Oh yea, make sure everyone brings knee and elbow pads and a helmet, otherwise there are some very rank pads you can borrow from Pks & Rec.

Thanks Eric! That site's exactly what I needed. Only problem is now I know the kids need waivers signed, and there's no way that they'd get to me in the mail before I leave on friday nor do I know who to contact to even get them. I sent an email to the guy on the site but.... Crap! Maybe if I beg and plead at the gate......
