Well, someone called the cops on us. We all got our information taken and if we're caught on the wall under the interstate again they can have us arrested and in jail overnight..
We're running out of places to longboard!

My friends and I live in Gainesville, Florida. There's a main road (I think called Newberry) that goes under the interstate and so there's a bridge. Under the bridge is this big slanted wall that was painted over with some scenery to make it look good. We decided to use our longboards on it, and to our amazement, it's fun as hell. My friend and I have gone up and down it for around a week now, and what makes it better is there is traffic just a few feet away that stops every few seconds. Because of this we get a lot of cheering, honking of horns, and stares from hot chicks.
Does anyone know if what we're doing is illegal or something? So far we've seen three cops, two of which payed no attention, and the other one stopped and watched before leaving while giving us a thumbs up. Today though my friend fell of his board and the board rolled to a stop near the traffic. This guy got out of his car and stopped traffic to yell at us about it but we just shrugged and kept on going.
Today this trick biker came by and totally blew us away when he went up the slant and jumped, did a 360, and landed it. We all took turns for a bit going up the slant, but my friend and I kept stopping just to watch him. We have both agreed now to learn some tricks to do on the longboard while going up the wall in order to not look as boring compared to a biker.
The only thing I'm afraid of is that we might have attracted attention from other skaters, and then next time we go we won't have a chance to ride...

I noticed that you speak of Utah. Are you from the Park City area? Just wondering. I live around there and am always looking for fellow longboarders. I am somewhat new to the sport so its kinda cool to see other riders and have some visual aide!

Hey there, anyone know of any good forums for sidewalk surfers in Chicago? I'm down on the lakeshore path everyday, sometimes go from downtown all the way to uptown in about an hour and a half.
Anyway, hopefully there is more of us out there...

Flex varies for me. It depends on the distance and terrain, flatland-3/4" flex, downhill-short with almost no flex, slight downhill with turns-probably a larger board with lots of flex for carving. My quiver consists of 30" to 60" between 9 boards, but it depends on my mood and how fast i feel like going.

I like a stiff deck. The board I ride most of the time is made with 1/2" aircraft aluminium so it is very stiff. I would not bomb a big hill on a flexy deck. The big down side to a stiff deck is the weight but I am working on that....

yeah I guess you're right, when you're pushing a flexy deck it tends to wander around a little bit more but a good flexy deck you can just push like twice and keep up your speed with pumping

Yes to both. Quiver creates variety and keeps the experience fresh. Sometimes I like a shorter stiffer deck (Park, Off-road, super tight carves on sic steep hills) but most of the time I like the flex. It really seems to help ease into a drift or return energy as you bounce out of one hard carve and into the next. For cruising, give me a long flexy deck with soft wheels. I'm getting older, and just like my Town Car, it feels better with each passing day. Cruising at 10 to 20 mph on 58" deck is good old man riding. Easy on the knees. It ain't so bad getting old. Just don't fall.

nope i'm not talking about sag in this regard. flex is great if you're strictly talking about carving. i'm talking about pushing/kicking where flex is not ideal. each time you push, the board flexes, putting more stress on your planted leg. on a stiff board you get more out of each kick not to mention stability. for carving, yeah flex all the way.

you're talking about sag. flex, when it's used properly will only help your energy situation. I say the more flex the better... as long as it's a well made flex with high energy returns.

i like flex but not so much that it sucks up your energy when pushing. a tight, snappy flex about does it to ease the bumps and makes a comfy ride.

I got an Ashland Classic longboard complete for Christmas. At 49" it's the longest board in my quiver. I LOVE IT!!!!!! It's great for carving and cruising and it's a nice looking ride to boot. Oh yea, the price is right too. $135.00 for a complete. They also do custom work. If you are interested, check out their site at www.ashland-designs.com
I am also looking into getting a Dewey Weber longboard. Anyone own one of those?

I got myself a Sector9 Bomb Hills for Xmas. You're absolutely right they are awesome boards. I just rec'd a Chris Yandall signature deck yesterday. I'm taking it to my local shop for gripping and to choose trucks. I already have some avilas that I'm putting on it. Its a "short" longboard 34"x9.5", cambered and concave, 7-Ply maple. It looks to be an awesome ride. If the Avilas don't work out on it I'm going to swap them with the Kryptonics I have on my Sector 9 and see how that works out.

I got a Sector9 longboard for christmas and i'm hooked again. I started skating back in the late 70's and kept with it all the way into the early 90's. Now in 2005 I feel like I've gone back to the roots of skateboarding when I carve around in my neighbohood on the longboard. What a great feeling. Carving on the smaller hills is so cool and we have some good ones here.

For all u people out ther my moms hippie friend taght me this cool trick called a slappy. Well u go up to a curb and rite wen u r about to hit it u turn away sharply and u will do a 2 wheeled wallride. Takes alot of practice have Fun.

My name is Jack Merica. I saw your new design on the Tracker Trucks website and fell in love with it immediately. I plan to get one very soon. I want to get the most out of the board as possible so I'd like to ask you what truck/wheel combo do you recommend for this board?
