Lotsa?????!!!!
On 7/22/2003 MoonDoggie wrote in from (199.123.nnn.nnn)

Okay guys I got lots questions, I need some pointers, advice or Comments.
1)For tight slalom is there a minimum length for a board, I noticed alot of you guys had small boards, what is the smallest I should go, for my size, does the size of my feet matter I'm a 12US in shoes?

2) Front trucks Does anyone make trucks that are smaller than 101's? Can I have my RaceTrackX Trackers cut down to the size of my 101 TTC turner truck? I have some mint condition Halftracks without the bushings can I use these or are they too small. Can I use my small halftracks in the front and my Turner in the rear?

3) King pin angles is there a minimum standard for slalom for the rear and front Kingpins And what about riser wedges Attila gave me a half 1/8 riser for the front why should the Tracker RaceTrack X need wedges?I can see risers for wheel clearance due to my size but to increase to the pivot angle?

4)Bushings I was Running Tracker Stims(Hard)and a Indy Hard in the rear TTC Truck. For the Front Tracker truck Richie told me to switch out the front bushing so I put in a Tacker Hour glass Bushing in the front and Indy Hard? Any thoughts or comments?

Maybe the nextime I'll only Knock down 15 cones ;^ :) ;C ;)

Peace
MoonDoggie

"Okay, now I'd like to try something a little different for this sectoin. Each week, I want to throw out a topic like...wheels, hardness, trimming, wear, trucks, risers, decks, construction, camber, flex, bushings, grip tape....basically breaking down all the elements of slalom to small digestible parts that can be combined into a meaningful discussion that anyone who happens into this section will be able to contribute. My vision is to have an open discussion where everyone can pitch in with their ideas and input. I think this will help lively up this section of the site."

Now your talking Mike! Let get some constructive conversation going here. Rememeber a while back when we were talking Flex vs TS & GS. That was good stuff. Lets get back to that.

Hey, looking forward to skating w/you this weekend! Cya tomorrow

Me and PD
On 7/18/2003 mike maysey wrote in from (63.110.nnn.nnn)

Sorry TK, I just can't agree with you on this no matter how hard I try or how much I watch the DVD. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the comparison however...I simply don't think we skate as mirror images. Don't get me wrong...after all who wouldn't want to be compared to a slalom skater like PD? He is, without arguement, one of the best slalom skaters in the world. I simply don't see the similarities you bring up.

On that note, anyone else care to chime on on this? Got an opinion?

Look Closer TK
On 7/14/2003 mike maysey wrote in from (67.192.nnn.nnn)

I don't think PD and I look at all alike. Start with our feet and work your way up...maybe I'm wrong, I was once...only once though!!
Hey Moondoggie, the spacing will be no tighter than 6' and no larger that 60'...bring your GS board and bring your TS board and you'll be set. Also, bring soft wheels as the surface is quite rough.

Sherm, yeah foot placement can be duped. BTW, how did the pouch session photos come out? Any covers?

MM & PD
On 7/14/2003 Hamm wrote in from (63.175.nnn.nnn)

TK, thats pretty easy to believe. My most recent image of the 2 of them is from Elsinore, which definently was not the advertised TS. MM just seems like his knees are closer and more bent, like he's using more of his lower body than PD who seems like he gains his leverage from his upper body.

Back foot Drive!!!
On 7/14/2003 Steve Sherman-LaCosta Boys Racing wrote in from (68.111.nnn.nnn)

Maysey,
Great Post..I agree that style can't be duplicated, but techniqe can. After racing again over the last year I came to a point where I just couldn't get to the next level of speed. So I started to notice that all of the guys I couldn't beat had there back foot farther back than mine,(Ransome,Chicken, Mollica, and Yourself)and raised their heel when they went around toe cones. So I trained with my back foot 3 inches back and worked on lifting my foot around the cone.HUGE DIFFERANCE!!!
Breckenridge was my first race after the adjustment and I got a 3RD. And a 5th!!!It showed me never be close minded when it comes to techniqe. Now if I could just race like Slater surfs, I'd be unbeatable...Gotta Dream..Sherm Tank

Hamm, I have a vid of Masey Racing Dunn in TS and it looks like a mirror image in the next lane. In GS I agree Mike has a different style. As far as power goes speed IS power. Look at Luca that guy is hammering. T

On 7/13/2003 Hamm wrote in from (63.93.nnn.nnn)

Mike, you musta figured that out right quick cause I've never thought your stlye resembled PD's or Jack's.
PD is pure finesse, Jack's style is kinda hard to put in words except to say he is very stylish, and Mike Maysey has been all about power.
