ED can you phone me or mail me or darren at Shiner your address and details of the deck you want.
Consider it a belated Christmas pressey.
Sorry to those I missed before and during Christmas, but after leaving Mike a few days before Christmas I was struck down with flu. Now I'm well again and ready to skate.

I was 39 when I broke mine, 40 by the time of the second op, how embarasing do you think that was?. When I tell people I did it skateboarding they invariably assume I was showing off to my kids in the drive... The 'two years' sounds like a bit of a pisser, i'll be 42... I dislocated my ankle too but I only broke the fib (admitedly in several places over a few inches) so hopefully it shouldn't be as critical for support. I was planning a little cruising around on the flat on the slalom board. I'll leave the ramps and stuff for at least six months, during which time i'll hopefully lose a few more stone, though it was me getting cocky about having lost two stone that got me so cocky at Southsea in september...

I didnt get the Simpsons Scalextrics Skater set I wanted for Christmas....so I bought a van instead.
2 sliding doors (very unusual, I can arrive with both doors open adopting a Huey Helicopter in Vietnam pose) 11 seats....which are removable. Lifting tailgate. Low Miles. All requests to do beer runs to Calais, move fridges or sofas, or provide dry places to sit at Summer comps will be considered! It should mean I can carry a wider selection of schtuff to races in future, and give rides to chums...which means all of you. Happy New Year!

G7enn good to hear your leg is on the mend, but don't rush things once you are out of plaster. I broke my ankle back in '89, F/S boardslide on a curb that had been waxed! I ended up with a double spiral fracture of my tib and fib (the fracture ran in a spiral pattern around each bone) and my ankle popped out of the socket formed by the bones! I got away with no pinning even though they said I might never walk properley again. I took a lot of stick from the hospital staff though, they thought it highly amusing that a 27 year old should be on a skateboard. I spent 8 weeks in a cast and a lot of physio after it was removed. It took a good few years before I was brave enough to think about skating again, in fact I had to even think very carefully before stepping off of a curb for a couple of years as I didn't feel too good putting all my weight on it.
I now have a right foot with a strange shape ankle and a whole shoe size smaller than it used to be, it also stiffens up in the damp and cold weather but it's not all gloom and doom, I'm skating again now but still wary of that ankle I wouldn't fancy bailing on a vert ramp and landing with my weight on that foot. So take it easy once you get back on your feet/board and I hope to see you around.

Sunday Shivering Sessions

I might make it to some of these in a month or so, they (along with fridays at Hove) were a great laugh. I won't be skating myself for a while as there were complications with my leg but the kids love that carpark so i'll be there as soon as I can drive.
On the subject of the leg I broke in early september. I waited eight weeks, found I found I needed another operation if I didn't want to be arthritic in a few years. Waited another three weeks, had a second op in late november and will have a third op (to remove the screw holding my tib and fib together) in late january. I then supposedly need a further four weeks in an aircast. That will make a week or so short of six months not walking for one fall in Southsea snake run, assuming there are no further complications...
Anyway, happy new year to all you bastards who can walk and skate. I hope to see some of you while gingerly skating through cones next year (at least i'll have an excuse). I look forward to actually being able to ride the Pocket Pistol I ordered a week or two before I knackered my leg and has been taunting me ever since.

I for one would not have improved so much this past year if it were not for Micheals help, advice, friendship and distribution skills.
So I say three cheers my friend, and lets hope things go onwards and upwards you World champ you.

The Sunday evening Maidenhead car park sessions will start up in anger again from this coming Sunday. Luke, Jason and others meet up and bomb 7 floors of empty concrete. It can be chilly, but way less than being in the open. Best of all its dry, and if its dry outside too there is room for slalom on the roof. Best thing is, there's ample parking! Often ends up a Lukes for coffee, and its a great place to work out the winter cobwebs.

Announcing a fully informal gathering of:
Skateboarders, Longboarders, Slalomers, Middle age shred-ers, Frustrated surfers, Carvers, Nose riders, Old Skoolers, Kick flip loathers, Whatever, everyone welcome
Any dry Sunday evening, ‘til late (it’s floodlit), Slades farm 70’s concrete with a 2003 surface - ensbury park area of Bournemouth. Sunday nights tend to be pretty quiet, so you can put in proper carving lines without crossing a dozen fakie rockers. See you there.

This morning, before leaving for work, I happened to have the Sky on telly, I think it was on Bravo. I caught about thirty seconds of some bloke waffling on about not being in England at Christmas......Oh so sad! At the end of the piece the bloke turns to camera...............well strike me rigid but I swear it was BOD! Now, it might not have been BoD, but I'm sure it was. It might have been because I was watching it at 5.55 AM!!!
Anyways hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year.
Ta for now. Edwin

Lush Longboards Spring Session 2004

After the success of the 03 Summer Session, we've got a Spring Session planned for 07-09 May 2004. Places are limited to 24 riders, so you're gonna have to snap them up quick to guarantee your place. The sign-up page should go live on the 06 January, and entry this year is £22. This includes Friday and Saturday night accomodation in our own bunkhouse, and a meal on saturday night (chilli).
Riders will be ferried about the peak in the four vans (all with windows and seats this time!), so cars won't be needed once you are here. In order to limit the numbers and make the event safer for everybody, you need to be a competent longboarder. Sorry beginners. Confident foot braking at speed is a must, and a sliding ability (even if it is on your arse) is handy.
I know it's hard to imagine, but this event is going to blow the socks of last years Summer Session. More new hills, all the Lush vans, sweet accomodation, set right at the bottom of one of our best runs - who could ask for more.
Watch this space......
