A little bit after the event, but I was trying to locate the above out of personal intrigue and vanity, and still am so doing.
Whilst trawling through the Skate 2003 site, I happened upon the notice below:
We are compiling a CD of Pictures and Video. Please send in your pictures or Video and we'll send you our best ones back.
Email: tim@sk8school.co.uk http://www.skate2003.co.uk SMS Organiser: 07940 773295
As it was suggested that they might even provide start ramps for next year's event, if any shots or footage are available then it might be good PR to send them Tim's way.

Had a great day with the lugers and stand up downhillers at Gurston near Salisbury. Its a hill climb course for cars, so that means pefect surfce, sharp turns and steep hills. I reccommend it to anyone who wants a blast. Looks like Harrow and Rom are getting popular as well.
Anyone up for Friday at Hove again?

OLDSKATERS dot com is now 1 year old, thanks to everyone for posting so far! If you haven't why not?
I'm now not going to get to the unofficial Rom Day tomorrow after all, I forgot that it's my Mum's Birthday, so I wouldn't be popular if I didn't show.... have fun if you go, the K-Boys are going to be there in full effect!

After recent discussions here and a few emails bounced of Gareth in cornwall, I decided to put some effort into getting involved with any future plans for the local skatepark. Unfortunately this effort consisted of looking around the council website for half an hour and finding no useful email adresses or hints of who to contact.
Then this morning, the kids and I went to the park for a quiet, relatively cool session at 8.30. A woman was there taking photos of all the ramps. I got talking to her and discovered she was a 'Technical assistant' for the Guildford parks and countryside service. I spoke to her for about half an hour about the crap quality of the last extension to the park, kids not really knowing what they want, the false economy of wood or metal over concrete and how, if part of the purpose of a park is to keep skating off the streets, a bowl is a better idea than a training ground for grinding up bits of the town centre. She seemed very interested in what I had to say and talked about setting up some kind of discusion group.
Anyway, I now have a contact in the council and the phone number of the bloke directly responsible for the skatepark. A nice coincidence really.

There is a 400 yard section of this in the museum grounds. Just enough of a bend so stuff can be filmed there and the banking looks intact. Anyway, i've climbed up it, it's amazing, must be at least 40 feet deep and only gets to around 45 degrees at the top, which makes walking up it interesting, you slowly loose grip just before you reach the top and it's kind of hard to take a run up or even run down unless you can run bloody fast...
The problem is, it's the roughest concrete i've ever seen. An extremely soft 4" wheel might just roll on the best bits but there is no way that anyone trying to ride it like a bank could get up above the 10 degree mark...
Maybe the bit outside Tescos is smoother, i've not seen it close up.

Johnboy, I've been eyeing that bank at brooklands up as I drive past, they've only just cleared all the vegetation off of it in the last couple of weeks. It looks pretty rough to me, might be okay with some nice big soft wheels though. was that you in Tescos tonight with a long board?
