Hey, the dual celebration and slalom event sounds like lots of fun. Pierre and I made it to Boston last july 4th and had a blast! I know I'd be likely to attend.
Toronto, how bout them bluffs? I've heard very little about them but are they skateable? Are they steep enough? Could that be a downhill venue?

I was thinking about downhill and luge, maybe longboard. The downhill and luge are a pretty easy fit as long as the hill is there. Longboard has an easier requirement for the hill, but the judging tends to be harder to pull together. I know that there are a lot of lugers and longboarders that frequent this forum. What say ye?
Toronto Longboarders, what about an event down this way? Later in the summer? Maybe we can get a Canadian Circuit going...
Cheers,
Paul

Known as the MetroLongboarders we're a bunch of longboarders that ride an assortment of locations in the Greater Toronto Area [GTA]. We'll take the TTC , cars or ride our board to a number of locations around the city, and sometimes we go out of the city - to places like the Niagara Escarpment. We mostly ride hills but we have a growning interest in skateparks [as more get made in TO. Anyone that rides something that can be considered a skateboard is more than welcome to join us. Pop me an e-mail to get hooked up with dates, times and locations. Later, Tom

July 1 is strictly a Slalom event. There may be other stuff going on as well.
I am heavily involved in Skateboarding in the Ottawa area and between now and then you just never know what could be organized leading up to this.
I know I will extremely busy with Sk8 camps from May until the end of August along with the GRS stuff for 2004. The skatepark, the retail and wkolesale distribution will be operating at full bore and expanding in the fall.
Thank God I found a partner just as crazy about skateboarding as me.
What did you have in mind?

Time for some thoughts.
I"m going to look into booking a big race for July 1, 2004, in Ottawa.
This is totally seperate from the GRS races series some of us have talked about.
I would also be interested in making it part of a CAN-AM race. This would include an event here on July 1, then a race on the 4th of July in Boston.
Is anyone interested in something like this? I could look into renting a bus and selling ticket packages to help offset some of our accomodations cost while were in Boston.
You would only have to drive here for this race. We book the bus on the 2nd (Ottawa to Boston) and 5th (Boston to Ottawa). So we enjoy Canada Day and Independance Day. You'll Love the fireworks. It would be a great family vacation for some of you as well.
I'd like some feedback ASAP. We could find some sponsors for the Canadian contingent for sure. It will take some time to put it all together and I would have to make sure I don't book myself any sk8camps for that week. That would mean passing up on some much needed income. So if enough of you are interested I'll do the legwork.
This topic is also listed on the other Canadian Forum site.
I will have it listed on the Contest Calendar for mid January if it is a go from a racers perspective. It may take a few months to get all the Okays from the powers that be. I will make inquiries as soon as MBL and I get the Ottawa Sk8park open.

I think you have been unlucky with the cops that time...I skated every week since march and got nothing from the cops and I met them often...Once I was with Pierre and J-F and a female cop was patrolling at the top of Boulevard Mont-Royal and JF even convince her to let us bomb the street with her presence there!
Hope we can meet on the street soon!

Hey, I just moved to montreal and am looking for a crew that goes to the steeps. This city is doooooope. I came down from the the mountain last weekend and creamed my panties and s#@! my pants at the same time.
I also got a "warning" from the cops who stopped me coming down Pins in front of the McGill gym. They took my name and said I'd get a ticket next time. I was feeling a little randy and asked them some questions. Apparently, skateboarding and rollerblading on the street is a crime. But they have f#@!ing "rollerblade lane" signs on the bike lanes !!! Pissed me right off.
Any good ideas?

Thanks Adam.....i was turing into a zombie. Pierre, thise boards look great. Have you thought about a 40-44" pintail or other longboard shape with the same construction as the slalom decks? I think that would be cool, nice and snappy. And Claude, I can too make 80 cones.....and faster than you before too long...jk, need to throw some fuel on the fire. But dont go all slalom forum on me....haha.

Okay we need to waste some space here with some useless jargon to make it go away.
Let's try some of that crap they use on the other Forum, EH!
Civ. 80 cones, you can't make 80 cones, LOL :)
I want to make sure you folks know that MBL was a big help in pulling off the Gathering.
We will be in Montreal this weekend doing dome work fot our Skatepark in Ottawa we hope to have open by the end of November.
Maybe an early Saturday AM Slalom session before we head back to Ottawa, EH?
Oh and Rob did you figure out that Video thing yet? I'm going to work on my filming, Okay?
