squeaky bearings: DONT CLEAN SEALED BEARINGS,all you are doing is stripping out the grease and introducing contaminents. buy new ones. leave em alone and do'nt ride em in the wet or on the dirt. or just clean that one again. trucks: loosen the kingpins,and/or change the bushings for softer ones

Hey this is Theobald from Landyachtz. You may have noticed our website has been down for a few days. We gapped out a little, our 5-year subscription ran out, and notice of this information failed to reach us until Monday morning. It should be up and running in 24 hours or so.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Denni's sliding wheels

All wheels will flatspot when the board slides at right angle to the moving direction. Soft wheels will flatspot sooner than hard ones and harder wheels will slide better. Good slide wheels are Bullets, Lush Cannonballs, Gravity Sliders, Abec11 Strikers, the Flashbacks in harder duros and there are many more. If you just want to slide, go with a hard wheel above 90A. If you want to cruise as well, I can tell you that my 97A wheels are to loud and to slow for that. For cruising/sliding I would recomend 85A-90A.

For the beginning try both trucks medium until you have a feeling for the board. Than play around. Most riders prefer front truck loose and rear truck medium. The tail gives stability. Bus for some surf-sliding-styles you can ride the tail loose as well. And remenber: Never start on top of a hill.

Loose or tight rear

That depends on your riding style. For carving, downhill and pumping I ride the front trucks verry loose and the rear trucks medium. (like: Randal Trucks: Front: Kingpin nut flush with kingpin, soft Indy bushings - Back: Kingpin nut flush with kingpin, hard Randal bushings) If its going faster I tighten the trucks a little more, beginning with the rear truck, because the tail is giving stability. Even faster will make me change bushings. For downhill sliding, I ride both trucks medium tight. (indy trucks, orange bushings, nut flush). For Crusing and surfskating I ride both trucks loose.
For Surfskating some guys ride their rear truck loose and front truck medium, so that the tail breaks out easily. http://www.surfacemotion.com/

hey ali - I was in a situation similar to yours last year. my school had no hills (on campus) and i needed to get from class to class. i used my workhorse board - sector 9's 38" cosmic2. the thing about campus cruisers is that you can't take a good "gliding" board, like the 50-whatever inch luke nosewalker, INTO the classes. it's just not practical. you can get around on anything, but I think even my 38" board was kinda big. Hope this helps.

different wheel setups

Yes. A harder wheel aft let your board break out easier. A softer one gives you more traction. Slalom racers use hard/front soft/rear to have good control and speed with traction. Surfer style skaters, like some guys in the gravity team often ride soft/front hard/rear to slide the tail around on top of a transition.

INcredible longboard action.....

in yesterday's Charles County Skate Park bowl contest. Young Pennsylvanian Frank Schaffroth and southern Maryland's Alex Hall surfed the concrete waves bigtime....even Corey Rubin borrowed a LB and busted some moves....but it was Nino's sweet lines and Ben Hatchell's sick tricks(on his Wally Inouye's Pool Service LB) that stole the show, w/the exception of 9 yo Neil Hailey landing the bowl to bowl transfer and speeding through the bowls like a wild boar chasing a tree frog. Seriously, the skating was incredible and the concrete was sweeeeeeeet! Did I say that this was part of a Surfrider Foundation, Capitol Chapter, fundraising event? Next week all the action will be moved to the St Mary's Skate Park in Lexington Park, Maryland. I hope some of you can make it out and support this event and skate too if you wish....the more the merrier!

Hi I like Holey trucks over Randalls.Once u try Holeys, u won't go back to Randalls!Wheels are difficult as lots of choice, I vote 3DM Avilas as number one, then Gumballs, then Flashbacks.Soft duro of 78 or less for smooth carving, but difficult to slide,

Flashbacks around 78A and Randal trucks are a good setup for a beginner. At least it's the most common setup here in Germany.
