you said that you are a "5-time, 5-state wide, 9 year undefeated champion" can you name some skateboard races you've been in that would qualify you as a undefeated champion?

Hi, I just got a LB and I was wondering the best way to stop on one other then just jamming my foot out (I ride goofy). Can I use the tail or is that bad for the board. Could someone give me some pointers? Thanks! Marli

You can't take these guys seriously, they have been invited to go down on our favorite Mistress with the Ratz and failed to respond. Bend is only about 1.5 hours away. They should be there every weekend.
"Gravitional" skateboards in the Olympics? I know the IOC has looked into slalom and more closely street luge (Hood River 2004), but they are no where near becoming an Olympic sport.

I thought the 'layback' probably became a name coz your layed back during the slide, if thats the case it could be argued that any move heelside would be a layback =) Just thought I'd throw my spanner in!
That said, both hands down either side an heelside is definitly a layback, without doubt. (he says not really knowing but sure anyway)

OK, I can live with that...
A sergio slide is a layback slide. I'm gonna call it sergio slide as i am used. No discussion about coleman and mecca slides, we mean the same. Both hand down (either heelside left and right of the hip or toeside left and right of the shoulder) i'm gonna call two-hander.
Not only for talkin about sliding (the second best after practice sliding) but also for me personal it's important to have a name to remember different slides: When skating a longer line with slide after slide after slide, i dont like to waste time between the slides with thinking abut the next slide. A concise name helps me to visualize my next move much faster!
thanx for answer - greetings cobaasta

I dont reckon thats right mate. A layback slide is what sergio calls his Sergio slides. Everyone in Brazil and most of the people I have skated with describe a heelside slide with the back hand down and the front hand up in the air as a Layback slide. There are no two ways about it im afraid. A heelside with a hand on either side of your body doesnt have a name as far as i know but me and my crew would call it a two handed coleman if we had to!
I know that its a bit weird having all these names for slightly different variations and although it may appear that they are only there so that people can brag about what slides they have done on all the forums but if we all use the same terminology then we can discuss techniques and dish out tips and advice. It works both ways! Im not having a dig!

Every heelside slide with one or two hands down could be described as lay back...
I use it that way (no matter if you go straight or 180 to 180 back or inbetween): coleman: heelside fronthand down with duck knees sergio: heelside backhand down with hips up mekka: heelside both hand down on leading side of the hip ?layback?: heelside both hand down left and right of the hip
Any name sugestions for toeside slides? what name for toeside back hand down, what name for toeside both hand down, what name for toeside front hand down (try that one with the back hand grabbing heelside...)?

The sergio slide and the layback slide are the same thing- sergio calls them layback slides but because he does them better than anyone else and pretty much gave it its cool style people also call them sergio slides. Basically is a huge powerslide with the board locked at 90degrees to the direction of the slope and your back hand is the one taking the weight. A two handed slide is more like a coleman slide than a layback because your shoulders rotate to face down the hill. It can change from place to place but this is generally what ive found to be the case! Layback slides eat wheels for breakfast!

Cobaasta Heh, not sure if I'm gonna be right here and as I've been told many times it varies from place to place but I think its a lay-back your describing, yeah the mecca is both hands left side heelside.
