Tape for protecting gloves

I don't know if this has been suggested in these forums already, but instead of using duct tape, a good tape to use on gloves is clear plastic hockey tape. It has a smooth surface and it doesn't get soft and sticky when it rubs on something (namely the concrete). I use it to cover the areas of my Bear Paws slide gloves that don't have any UHMW protection, and it works great. If you put a few layers on the areas you want to cover, it becomes pretty durable. Hope this helps anyone with gloves that become chewed up too quickly.

G-Stop or Cheeze-Spot?

I've been through this G-Stop thing over a year ago, and I confirmed that indeed the G-Spot is just above the P-Spot... combine the two and you will indeed STOP whatever it was that you were doing before coming into contact with the above mentioned spots. Rumors of Gravitational races are highly exaggerated... I say this firsthand because I'm the only racer to be in the top 5 world ranked G-Racers the last 10 years in a row. So enough with your hasty claims to the thrown!

The "gravitational stop" guy might be somewhat amusing, if you happen to enjoy reading [what seems like] a paranoid schizophrenic ranting about his delusions of grandeur. Maybe he's not nuts, but just some kid enjoying the attention from a little hoax. Either way - - - waste of time.
Cliff, when are you coming to the southland?

Dave,
You do have internet access and there is a ton of information on how to stop. There is information on foot drag, sliding and carving techniques to either slow or stop you completely. Use your search engines and see what material is available to read. a link to my web-site has an article titled, "Street Slidin". When you get to the article, go to view and enlarge the text so you can print it out. "cliffslider.com".
Good Luck, Cliff Coleman
P.S. The back and forth with this other guy has been fun. Probably for both him and the rest of us. Nothing serious.

sergios/layback slides

yo dude, The "layback" you describe is a what most people call a coleman slide, or just a heelside 180. The layback and Sergio are one and the same and involve using your back hand as a point of contact with the ground. They chew through wheels like nobody's business though, especially if you do them on only two wheels (the only time I've ever flatspotted a wheel was doing two wheeled sergio slides in my driveway cuz I didn't have much space to carve the slide and had to really push on it to get the slide to break away due to relatively low speeds) faltownskateboards.com has a pretty good guide to the basic slides w/ tutorials and vids too

Hey, I'm sure dissing Mr. brainiac is the most riveting thing in the world BUT this is a forum man, can we can the slag match for a minute? I just got a long board and I'm trying to learn to stop. I'm making it up as I go coz I got no-one to learn from but could someone tell me if I'm headed in the right direction? I'm kinda attempting to put all my weight on the front truck with my front foot while leaning downhill and into which ever way I wana turn to stop, and then kicking the back foot out. I almost got it to work acouple of times but I duno what this technique is called. Any tips would be great. thanks, Dave

Hey i could be wrong but i dont believe sergio slides are lay back, correct me if im wrong but yuppie uses his weak hand, i mean i ride regular and i always thought a lay back was with your strong hand aka left hand for a regular person, were as segio uses his hand that is back farther on the board

Those moves in Gleaming the Cube?? Man I gotta see that again!

Rich Dunlop! What do I win?
If you watch the chase scene in slow-mo, you can see some great footage of a toeside 360, not to mention the Coleman-to-two-handed-fakie-slide around the corner that starts the sliding scene off.
For the next "Gleaming the Cube" challenge: Identify the scenes that Gator and Natas appear in, respectively (different scenes).

Stevan,
A true Champion would seek out and race those who want to compete. Many are willing to race you. What's the problem? Step up. There are races to prove one's self.
Got to go, I'm off to race at the World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding.

check out these two badly made 80s skateboarding movies- Gleaming the Cube and Thrashin. Both have some wicked sliding in them, one is a chase scene other is part of a mass downhill race called the "LA massacre"
good luck finding them, i bet your local video rental shop won't have them-try ebay or amazon.

yeah, sounds like you did a heelside pendulum but turned the second 180 into a 360. I guess it would be called a heelside 180 to switch heelside 360, right? or maybe just a heelside pendulum followed by a toeside 180 hmm

Stevan,
We have a duty to talk to you like this if you continue (in our eyes) to bulls$#* us. Here are a few of your prior comments;
"In America i have been holding a tittle: 5-time 5-state wide, 9 years undefeated Champion."
Which title, which states? THis question has been asked and never answered.
"I have never been in any other races but Gravitational races."
Ok I can buy that one..
"Gravitational skateing hasent evan hit america yet so none of you have any f#@!ing right to talk to me like this."
WTF?!?! If it has not hit America how can you be the "5 time 5 state and 9 time undefeated champ? In what state (of mind)are you living?
If you are for real, you can redeem yourself by supplying any information you have on this new "sport". Like a website for this Red Bull event coming up (I could not find a Red Bull site dedicated to the event you mentioned) or any website regarding your new "sport". How about a contact person and other details about this event in "Carbo" san locas mexico in case some if us want to compete. Some of us have traveled the world to race this season and if there is an event close to home we would love to attend.

nah man he ment 180 to switch, 180 back to reg stance and then 180 to swich and off. s'a heelside pendulum.
off topic, when am I gonna see a skate movie with sliders innit?? That would be rude, there could be some mad chase sceane with sliding under barriers an round hair pins an all, then a one handed pig in a blanket role while shooting a pistol at the persuers. THat would be wicked =)
