So after reading some of these posts, this g-stopping is just really silly. They say this "retrograde motion" that induces anti-gravity, it's actually when a wheel spins with a frequency nearing 24 rotations per second or 30. Depends on what kind of video specification is used. Retrograde motion is only observable on video tape because the wheel doesn't actually move backwards, it just seems so because between frames on a video, the wheel moves almost a full rotation, so it looks like the wheel is moving backwards. I will admit spinning things can produce gravitation waves, but usually it's black holes and other massive massive objects. Cut the crap, retrograde motion my physics butt

hey matt, I think it's called a zero wheel slide, I could be wrong. Thats awsome progression how did you start doing them?...My best slide is a one footed toe side manuel(some times i can pendulum back to reg. with one foot on the board but usually end up switch) Me and my skate homies are all about learning new slides and its cool to hear about normal people rocking fancy slides!!!

thanks for the info. im trying to work on being more flexible. it hurts my knees allot. but im trying to get used to using the style where i lay my knee on the board. i dont like having to grab rail, but ive gotten good at it.

Desre' i think wheels and board stiffness are more important than trucks when it comes to breaking slides, with hard wheels and a not-so-floppy deck you should be able to do pendelum slides and be able to stop quite well. i slide a 46 inch lib-tec and its smooth. hovever, i wouldn't expect to do to many tricks especially if your slides arn't totally dialed in on a smaller board. GET GNARLEY ON THAT BEAST,........GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

Less pressure on anything that touch the grind is the key to a succes slide. Stretch far from the board, get your body straight linear to the groung instead of a doggystyle submission type of position. Gloves will slow you down as much as wheels if you dont equalize the pressure to the ground equaliy. Did i sound logical? I have a hard time in english....if you understand french, i can explain better.
Stocked to see that people are learning to slide BIG boards. Keep on sliding those mamas mates!!!

hey ed, i recently learned how to slide this summer and let me tell you getting or making proper gloves will change every thing. I used to rock the leather gloves with wrist guards and it totally hinders your sliding. Bottom line is the more weight you have on your hand the less weight you apply to the wheels which equals longer more controled slides, instead of your hand being an anchor and pulling you off your bord its like an outrigger on a catamaran...... I used to grab rail when i would do heelside slides but then i realized that it was forcing more weight on my board than i wanted, try getting to a solid crouch knee(with the lower part of you legs almost parallel to the ground) when sliding heelside, ive been sliding for a few months and this technique feels so money! To really get comfy in this stance try standing with you feet slightly wider than shoulder with(if you have a short board its like having your feet right over the trucks and against the kick tail/nose) Try doing this without rolling, it will help I'm regular so i put my left hand on the ground behind me my right hand in the air to "steer" the slide, but leg position is so key! Point your front knee twards the nose with your front foot on its side(the outside), lay the inside of your back knee on top of the inside of your front foot and lean back and relax. I know it sound weird to not have your foot on totaly solid but it really is more stable. If you check out faltown.com in the media section the is footage of cliff at the "boat house corner" he comes flying at the camera fakie using this style check it out......... you know your in the right postion when it feels way too comfortable... its almost like your sitting on your butt and chillin'

ive been comming along on my slides but i havnt been using acual slide gloves. ive just been using leather work gloves. i finally pulled off a pendelum slide going about 20-25mph i guess , and ive been doing 180s, riding backwards, and then pulling it 180 back around all in one motion (all heelside). thats about it.
here is the question, when you are sliding, is allot of your weight on your glove or on the board? because my gloves are leather with no pucks on them, i cant lean on them too hard or else it draggs me down or burns up my hand. i feel like im balancing on the board allot more than people with side gloves. so ive been having to pull of the slide by holding the board between my legs with one hand, while semi lightly putting the other hand on the ground. im finally making some gloves this weekend. also, what kind of trucks and wheels are you guys riding for downhill sliding? im currently on some 73mm 90a's with ranall 180's. i think they are too big and too soft (allthough now that they are worn down, they are not bad). thinking about switching to some like 99a 65mm.

I've had good luck with motion longboards slide gloves they've lasted me a few months and are holding up well. at about $30 you cant go wrong, they have replaceable pucks and leather gloves........holes start to form in the finger tips if you drag your fingers when you slide but i did a tape job to keep my fingers from wearing through......the velcrow on the palms seems to be holing up and the pucks almost never get knocked off ,mabey twice in 5-6 months, and that was on a scetchy cracked up road.........there not bear paws but they are simple and do the trick for me and my boy and we're everyday sliders.........

Something that I love to do on my street is set up my slalom cones in a bowling triangle shape at the bottom of my hill, and slide into them and see how many you can get. It is great practice if your new to sliding and still fun if you are a pro. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 If anyone does it try to take some pictures they look cool on high speed slides!

hey bro i got the lush sliding gloves leather they are great except for the finger pucks you cant grab anything at all but i took those off and just use the palm puck the only thing is they are $50 in leather and $35 in cloth but i think well worth it for sure! and about making gloves for my first pair i just took leather work gloves and i got a cutting board cut out a 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch piece and torched a side and clamped it on to the glove. i already had the gloves but total it will cost like $8 to $10 and they work great and are very durable

definition of g-stop retrograde motion: The motion your head makes when you get cold cocked when you fail to find her g-spot. The motion can be either from the initial impact of her hand or from your head bouncing off the ground when you fall.

get the gravity gloves. they are awsome. they also have replaceable pucks. the srikers look realy cool i got 75a but returned them for 81a. santa is bringing them. biltin bearings are unbelievably smooth. when sliding on a big board, you need to go a bit faster than normal. put your hand down and get your weight down low.

Hi Jim,
take it easy. Ride only at speeds that are comfortable for you. You will find out, that jumping off the board is no option above a certain speed. I learned footbreak first. The first time you do it, you board may start to wobble when you lift one food from the board. Learn it a slow speeds first. Mabe with tight trucks. After a while, you can do it at higher speeds and with loose trucks. At higher speeds stand up footbreaking will not work for emergency stops. You have to slide then. (I haven't tried Kludy technique) Problem with the emergency slide is, that your board is 90 Degrees to the moving direction. That slide will ruin your wheels, they will be out of round after a serious emergency stop. To control my speed I use a different combination of just standing up straight, hard carves, sliding standing up and sliding with one hand down. Just try it, you'll get it fast.

I think it is very important that all of you know that hills are there to bomb and not to stop on and there is a point of no return for most.The time to stop is when to ride is over, not in the middle and if thats the case just jump off! At races we always have a run out and maybe its only 100 yards. Try to carve , big carves 1st and straighten out your board, at that point you should be slow eought that you can do different types of stopping. Try them all until you find one that works best for you.Foot, slide or just jump off. There is no great thing that anyone can tell you to help you other than make sure you are done with the hill and ready to stop.I have been doing it for years so for me grabing my rail at 60mph and throwing a foot down is something I worked on for the last 4 years. I have crashed and burned alot and thats apart of it, no easy way to stop something that just does not want to stop. I hope that helped alittle.Repect any hill and take it easy, grow from there. I dont mind sharing now because for most of you it is snowing and you cant get hurt to bad in the snow,Off season
